Of Earthquakes and Equinoxes

Richard Cronin

Getting back once again to the Earth's Obliquity (angle of inclination) and how it relates to Tidal Pumping (tectonics).

A very rare earthquake, Richter 4.8, struck Tewksbury Township NJ on April 5. Tewksbury lies on Latitude 40.7 degrees North. The Vernal Equinox fell on March 22.

Wellington New Zealand suffered a Richter 5.7 earthquake today,

Oct. 5. Wellington lies on Latitude 41.3 degrees South. The Autumnal Equinox was Sept. 22.

Exactly 6 months separated these events and for all intents, right along the corresponding North/South Latitudes.

The image of the Solar System and planetary positions is for today's date. Here is the link for the Fourmi Lab solar system viewer. You can adjust it for the date you desire. I like using the Images rather than the Icons to represent the planets. Venus is White. Earth is Blue/Green. Mars is Red. Jupiter is a banded Orange/White. Mercury is Dark Grey.
