The magnetic North Pole has been in motion, and has just crossed the Prime Meridian! and is now in the east.
Will this screw up Santa Claus? Will the old fat guy crash his sleigh, or misdeliver gifts?
Don't know about him, but I won't lose money betting on the U.S. Postal Service mucking it up!

Every article I have read starts babbling about the effect of the North Pole's movement on GPS systems, and makes reference to a recent update which was issued for GPS units worldwide. This proves that the media never knows what the hell it is talking about.
The GPS unit works by getting signals from two or more satellites, and doesn't even know that the Magnetic North Pole even exists. It doesn't even know that magnetism exists. It knows only that satellites and satellite signals exist. Updates are issued to correct for minor variations in the orbits of the GPS satellites.

I wonder how long before the Democrats in the House of Representatives open impeachment inquiries of Trump over this; they'll say he sold the pole to Putin...

Actually, I'm not sure what Google Maps uses, because that app locks onto an address faster than my three-year-old Tom-Tom GPS (which I never use anymore). Bill is correct about how the GPS system works, and two or three satellites have to be locked into, and each of them sends out a short signal every few minutes, so it takes awhile to lock in.
