No Right to Feed from the Trough

A Democrat judge does it again.

Obama judge permanently blocks Trump order against Perkins Coie law firm in scathing ruling that quotes Shakespeare

From the Blaze:

U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell said Friday that the order violated three separate amendments to the Constitution and ordered that it be permanently blocked.

'Eliminating lawyers as the guardians of the rule of law removes a major impediment to the path to more power.'

Perkins Coie is known for its involvement in the Trump dossier debacle, where dubious documents were collected in an attempt to substantiate accusations against President Donald Trump that he was colluding with the Russian government.

Howell said in the 102-page ruling that Trump's order against the firm violated the First, Fifth, and Sixth amendments.

"Using the powers of the federal government to target lawyers for their representation of clients and avowed progressive employment policies in an overt attempt to suppress and punish certain viewpoints, however, is contrary to the Constitution, which requires that the government respond to dissenting or unpopular speech or ideas with 'tolerance, not coercion,'" she wrote.

She compared Trump to a character from Shakespeare's play Henry VI, who famously says, "The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers," and explained that the order was in the same direction as totalitarianism.

"Eliminating lawyers as the guardians of the rule of law removes a major impediment to the path to more power," she explained.

This woman is extaordinarily dishonest; lawyers as the "guardians" as she calls them (and that's not what they are and never were) is not what Trump is doing in the slightest. What Trump is doing is removing taxpayer funding from partisan lawyers who are using our tax dollars to promote their own Progressive genda against the will of the People. The Consitution does not require federal funding of squat; there is no mandate that gvovernment pay money to groups of people who use it to promote societal evolution or a partisan viewpoint. Trump cannot stop Perkins Cole from political activism - that WOULD be unconstitutional. But he sure as hell doesn't have a duty to fund them by giving them sweetheart contracts.

In liberal land if you are not for thm, not actively helping them, you are defacto waging war on them and they will twist the constitution into a pretzel, making it a document that does not restrict governmental power but imposes responsibilities on both government and the individual. That was never the intent of the framers; they wanted a society where you could just be left alone and mind your own affairs without molestation. The Left has turned that into a government intimately involved in daily affairs, a government that meddles incessantly. This was Benito Mussolini's definition of totalitarian as he saw Fascsm; society being involved in every aspect of life. The American Left has made it so here, and this is proof of that thinking. By not actively funding our internal enemies the American People are somehow violating the conwtitional rights of law firms.

Which is odd; the Left never met a corporation it didn't hate, and it fights against th concept of corporations being "people" with any sort of enforceable rights. Yet here we are with them arguing for the rights of a corporation. This didn't target specific lawyers in the firm but the firm itself.

If this is unconstitutional, then it is unconstitutional for the U.S. govenrment to not do business with ANY corporation. So all boycottts or sanctions against any corporation from an enemy country is illegal. This means that the boycott of South African companies during the embargo back during the days of Apartheid were grossly illegal. This means the whole Civil Rights act is illegal as it unfairly targets companies that do not follow the rules set down.

By the way, Shakespeare was largely right. Lawyers are in fact a parasitic force that sucks the life out of nations because they twist and squirm to make laws say what they do not, or to make what happened appear differently. We have to have them, just as we have to have police officers (and many cops are good but many are abusive). But we are under no obligation to enrich some lawyers with taxper money. If they want to work for the Progressives that is their right, but not on our dime. Shakespeare would have had a field day with this.

There is no right to feed from the federal trough.

I would say she'll get spanked by a higher court, but with the way things are you never know. SCOTUS may well side with this judge when Roberts and Barrett join the Liberals on the Court. You never can tell.
