1 Something that seems to be forgotten here is the fact that Poor Little Marie Y, like every other member of the diplomatic services, and everybody else who works for the Administration, serves at the pleasure of the President and can be fired -- or sacked, if you prefer that word -- at such time as his or her work no longer pleases the President. That goes for President Trump as well as every other President.

Indeed, although it would take a large amount of time, it would eventually save some trouble if every member of the Diplomatic Service, and I include the State Department, would consider himself or herself to be terminated as soon as a new President has been sworn in. The new President could, of course, issue a statement asking everyone to stay on on a temporary basis if they wish, until they have been interviewed and the new President has decided whether or not to retain them. If he decides not to, they will be considered "terminated without prejudice." The same with anyone who does not wish to stay to serve the new President.

Same thing with the DOJ (which includes the FBI) and other "career" services such as the CIA.

And it goes without saying, or should, that these peoples' security clearances are all revoked when they are canned. If the people end up being retained, it's easy enough to obtain new clearances. That ought to take care of miscreants like Brennan, Crapper and the like. And speaking of them, any of these people who even smells like he's going to go to work for a TV network forfeits a possibility to come back to work for the gummint forever. Even under a different administration.

2 Amen Dana!  About that last, in private business people have to sign non-compete clauses all the time.  We had a long time news anchor here in St. Louis named Larry Connors, for example, who got sacked for something he said on Twitter (and it was mild).  He was very angry, because a.they made him do Twitter, something he didn't want to do and b.he believed they wanted him out for young blood. He'd been here for probably forty years. (You may have heard of him; he was the news guy who investigated the brothel in the true story that was made into the play and motion picture "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas".)

At any rate, he never got another job in journalism in town because he had signed a non-compete clause. If it works in private  industry, why not in government?  Surely we can keep these creeps out of the media.
