Long Count

Timotthy Birdnow

Now the average number of mail-in ballots is 1,500, according to this article. Put three people on it and it will take, what, six minutes at most to count. Remember, they aren't verifying the ballots, just COUNTING them.

So why are we told to expect long delays?

Why Arizona’s Election Day results will be delayed

In their famous boxing match Jack Dempsey knocked Gene Tunney down but failed to go to a neutral corner, leading the match to be called the "Long Count". But this is ridiculous!

FTA:

The expected slowdown stems from a new state law enacted in February that requires poll workers to tally the number of mail ballot envelopes dropped off at the location before they deliver results to the central counting facility. This is just an initial count of the number of ballot envelopes. The votes on these ballots get counted later, after voter signatures on the ballot envelopes are verified.

Still, the task will take time. In past elections, more than 1,500 mail ballots have been dropped off at busy sites on the day of the election.

End

I mean, how difficult is it to COUNT, for crying out loud? I suppose it is for Democrats, educated in public schools, perhaps, but are they really THAT bad at it?

It continues:

The expected slowdown stems from a new state law enacted in February that requires poll workers to tally the number of mail ballot envelopes dropped off at the location before they deliver results to the central counting facility. This is just an initial count of the number of ballot envelopes. The votes on these ballots get counted later, after voter signatures on the ballot envelopes are verified.

End

Well duh! They want to make sure there aren't votes inserted into the total after the fact - illegal votes. This is not an onerous or overly demanding requirement.

Here is another interesting little tidbit:

But the county is also expecting more last-minute dropoffs of mail ballots — 350,000 compared with 290,000 in November 2022.

In past years, poll workers haven’t had to tally up these dropped off ballots at the polling place, so it’s unclear how many might arrive at the busiest locations this year.

[...]

In the primary election, 86,756 voters dropped off mail ballots at polling sites. Seven out of 222 vote centers had more than 1,000 ballots dropped off, according to a Votebeat review of the county’s posted numbers, and most of the rest had hundreds. The busiest site had 1,855 ballots dropped off.

End

Now why is that? Last time people were doing mail-in ballots because of Covid. Why are they expecting MORE mail-in balloots and not fewer? That is not logical - unless one assumes there is going to be more fraud.

Again.this is about COUNTING them and not actually tallying them.

So let me get this straight; if you are counting at a leisurely pace of one per second we are talking about a thousand seconds, or 16.67 minutes. That is ONE person taking his good sweet time. In fact poll workers should be able to count more than one per second - probably at least five per second. So a little over five minutes should suffice to count them all. And that is if you put just one person on it.

But what does Maricoupa County say?

"The county is estimating it will take 10 to 12 days to finish counting all ballots for the November election, which is about average compared with previous elections."

end

Ten to twelve DAYS?! They could count that on their fingers and toes more quickly. I mean, are they inventing addition from scratch?

What gets me is the author of this piece saw no problem with his own math here. Or chose to invent a problem where none exists. I have little doubt it was the latter to make an excuse that will wash with the illegal alens who reside in the great state of Arizona. Any way you slice it this is a breathtakingly stupid article designed to fool breathtakingly maleducated people. Sadly it will resonate with many.

With such stupidity America is doomed.

1 The problem in Arizona is that their bollexed-up system is designed to allow a voter to cast his ballot anywhere in the state. So a ballot has to contain all possible candidates for offices in the state. It's a nightmare. I read an in-depth article about it last year, or maybe the year before. You'd have to work really hard to design such a lousy system.

But it's because they don't want to take the time to design a decent system that properly addresses the needs of the state.

(And Tim, please properly spell MARICOPA County -- there's no "u" in it. Thank you.)

2 All candidates on all the ballots? I'd not heard that Dana.

Dana, that county puts the coup in Maricopal just being literal.
