Liberal Brains (or Lack Thereof)

I disagree with the notion that it is genetic, Dallas Stephens. There are a LOT of liberals who turn into conservatives as they get older - and a small minority of conservatives who change to liberal over time.

What it is, in my opinion, is neuroplasticity; there ARE brain differences between liberals and conservatives (although nobody has actually found them conclusively) but that is because the brain changes based on how you think and what you learn. We know people have lost half their brains and the remaining half has turned into another whole brain albeit a bit smaller (explains most Democrats). We know that people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder can rewire their brains using mindful meditation and cure themselves. I believe the brain differences between right and left stem from this same phenomenon.

Liberals are exposed to a way of thinking that is essentially exterior command driven and requires less effort to think. They come to accept the word of "experts" who tell them what to think,and this changes their brain architecture and chemistry. It can be changed back through education and effort, but it's the line of least resistance so it is a comfortable place.

And it becomes a religion, something accepted on faith alone, so as to avoid that painful, difficult process of actually thinking and thus rewiring the brain. Often as people get older their brains develop and they learn to think and become conservative.

A prime example of that was David Horowitz, who was a red-diaper baby and came from a family that really believed in Marxism. But he was an intellectual and eventually realized the bankruptcy of his beliefs - and underwent the painful process of rewiring his brain. We often see that. It rarely goes from right to left because that is not thinking more but thinking less.

Oh, liberals think; don't get me wrong, but it's tactical and not strategic. They think about how to get what they want, not why they should want it. It's a gutless, lazy choice.
