Current favorability ratings of leading political figures: favorable %, unfavorable %, net rating %) from realclearpolitics.com.
Joe Biden 42.6 52.6 -10.0
Donald Trump 41.4 53.0 -11.6
Ron DeSantis 44.0 41.8 +2.2
Kamala Harris 39.8 54.3 -14.5
Kevin McCarthy 35.3 37.3 -2.0
Hakeem Jeffries 28.8 28.3 +0.5
Chuck Schumer 29.8 39.3 -9.5
Mitch McConnell 22.3 52.8 -30.5
Some observations: Trump has improved his rating of late, he's now just barely behind Biden and has a better rating than Kamala Harris. This is perhaps due to him staying "on message" more lately.
Kevin McCarthy has improved his rating a lot and now just barely has a negative rating, with the only higher ratings being those of DeSantis and Jeffries. This is presumably due to an improved reputation with populist Republicans as he has made genuine concessions to the populists and has made good on those so far.
Hakeem Jeffries' rating has declined a bit and he now just barely beats out DeSantis for the best rating. I'm not sure what caused this. I've always considered him just another member of the Democrat machine, but one whose optics aren't as ugly as those of people like Pelosi and Hillary Clinton.
Mitch ("Elmer Fudd") McConnell remains far and away the most unpopular leader in Washington, being despised by both Democrats as well as the populist base of Republicans. It will be interesting to see whether he can run on fumes and eke out yet another term of office. His Wall Street/Neocon base of support is pretty thin soup. But, people say he may be able to hang on due to Kentucky politics being weird. I kind of get by now how Utah politics is weird but I still don't really understand what's with Kentucky.
Tim adds:
Anyone who believes Joe Biden has a 42% favorable rating is smoking crack. There is no way that is the case. This is another case of padded polling.
Of course, the RCP is an average of a variety of polls, including slanted polls from the media, so it isn't surprising it is biased in Biden's favor. I suspect he's under 40%. The AP/NORC poll has him at 38% and he's probably lower than that. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/biden-approval-near-lowest-point-of-presidency-ap-norc-poll-says
