I had been wondering about this. There is reason to suspect the Corona Virus may be the work of Chinese biowarfare experiments.

The deadly animal virus epidemic spreading globally may have originated in a Wuhan laboratory linked to China’s covert biological weapons program, according to an Israeli biological warfare expert.
Well, well, well; that certainly is suggestive.
Look, the Chinese cannot beat us militarily using conventional or atomic weapons. Our weaponry is still far superior to theirs and they know it. But we gave up our biological weapons program in the seventies, and with CRISPR technology it is far easier to make a horrible war plague. We know China has been monkeying around with genetic manipulation. They have openly bragged about some of the things they have done. There is no reason to think they have NOT been manipulating genetic material to weaponize a virus or bacteria.

Dany Shoham, a former Israeli military intelligence officer who has studied Chinese bio warfare, said the institute is linked to Beijing’s covert biological weapons program.
"Certain laboratories in the institutehave probably been engaged, in terms of research and development, in Chinese [biological weapons], at least collaterally, yet not as a principal facility of the Chinese BW alignment,†Mr. Shoham told The Washington Times.
Work on biological weapons is conducted as part of a dual civilian-military research and is "definitely covert,†he said in an email.
Maybe. And maybe it is just a normal thing to suspect them of this. China has a LOT of people and they are rather casual about hygiene and food handling. The country is a petri dish for bacteria and viruses, and with China now having the financial wherewithal to build in new areas and to purchase materials and send people into the Third World it becomes more likely new diseases will break out into the general public after mutating. China is one enormous bio reactor.So it is not necessary to think this is a result of biological warfare experiments, but it could be. I wouldn't put it past the Chicoms.

One ominous sign, said a U.S. official, is the that false rumors since the outbreak began several weeks ago have begun circulating on the Chinese Internet claiming the virus is part of a U.S. conspiracy to spread germ weapons.
That could indicate Chinais preparing propaganda outlets to counter future charges the new virus escaped from one of Wuhan’s civilian or defense research laboratories.
And no doubt they will try to blame it on Donald J. Trump.I wonder if that will be the next article of impeachment filed against the President by the Democrats.
The Chicoms know their enemy. As Sun Tzu said "if you know your enemy and yourself you need not fear in a thousand battles". Divide and conquer. And so many hyper-partisan American politicians will fall right into line with this.
This is a worrisome situation. We've had pandemics in the past (the Spanish flu during WWI is a prime example) but never one actually created to kill people. Biological weapons have the potetntial to be terrible things indeed; it's why Richard Nixon ended our program. It is possible to create a pathogen that mutates and cannot be cured - and can make mankind extinct. It could happen.
There is, for example, what is called a cassette virus, which is a virus that mutates repeatedly so as to avoid the body's natural defenses. Antibodies cannot react fast enough, and the mutations take their toll. Evenutally one of them kills the host. And then kills another host, and another, and another.
Now, I may be indulging in fear-mongering here. Chances are this virus will peak and then peter out as most epidemics do. I wouldn't read too much into this. But I do think it is something we should be considering.
As I said, China cannot defeat us militarily as of now. They know it. A bioweapon could be a game changer.

Remember how certain, er, elements of our society blamed our "Right" for having created the HIV virus? Now, I don't believe for a minute that we did that. But somebody else -- somebody who takes a very dim view of homosexuality -- could have.
* Anyhow, speaking of hygiene etc.: A few years ago, the highly-respected Smithfield pork products company was sold to China, https://www.upi.com/Top_News/Opinion/Outside-View/2013/10/25/Outside-View-Chinas-ownership-of-an-iconic-American-food-company/75821382673840/?ur3=1 and ever since, many people including this writer have refused to buy anything with the name Smithfield on it. My wife sometimes gets into fights with me about it, but so far I have always won. It has meant that I have had to occasionally go outside our usual "supply chain" to get the pork products we want. But "a man's a man for a' that."

BTW, you can put a lime in any beer and improve it. I've done it on a number of occasions with other horrible beers. Drink it cold enough and add a lime and you can drink what comes out the hind of an elephant...
