I got good news yesterday; my wife's surgeon FINALLY lifted positioning restrictions on her. She has been bed-ridden at 30* or less for nine full weeks now! As of yesterday that is over.
That means physical therapy can start doing real work with her. She will be getting out of bed and they can start teaching her to walk again.
Poor Cathy has suffered terribly through this and it isn't over; she still has a wicked infection in her nether region, for instance, but it's getting better. She is still on a feeding tube and will remain so for months more at a minimum. But at least she is able to sit up - she'll be able to eat by mouth again to a greater degree.
So yesterday was a banner day!
On the flip side my 94 year old father was taking out his trash (he lives alone) and fell flat on his face on the concrete porch. Broke his nose and busted his face up. My brother tells me he looks like a club fighter who lost and badly. Brian took him to an urgent care facility and they x-rayed him and said his bones were fine. They didn't recommend an MrI so he's just got to recover as best as he can.
He's obstinate and won't wear the life alert I got him. So when he fell he was unable to get back in the house. He had to crawl on his belly until he got inside. I'm hoping this will teach him to keep the thing on him.
At any rate he's fine, if a bit worse for wear. So all is as right with the world as is possible these days.
Thank you all for your prayers and concern!

Unfortunate news about your Dad, but perhaps it will convince him that the Life Alert is A Good Thing to wear. I've heard that old people can be stubborn, but what do I know, I'm only 82 years old, and don't know a darn thing about old OR stubborn -- just ask my wife (snicker).
Prayers for all three of you!

He was raised half of the time on a farm with no electricity or running water so it's no suprise he hasn't taken to these "modren marvels". That it was during the Depression only makes it worse. He will never, ever leave a light on when he leaves a room, even if he is going out and won't be back until after dark. "Costs money!" he grouses when I admonish him over it.
