Every so often we're admonished "If we just sat down with the other side and tried to get them to understand us, everything would be all right." It doesn't matter if "the other side" is Al Qaeda, ISIS, Obama Democrats, or the drug gangs who are befouling the neighborhood. Hugs are seen as the universal panacea.
