It shines a light on one of the most important domestic political issues that American voters ought to be giving weight to when deciding which party to vote for. And that is that one of the cornerstones of today's Democratic Party is the use of inflammatory false allegations of racism in order to whip up hostility toward the Republican Party.

With the public likely to be much more alert to this phenomenon after this incident, it will be harder for the Democrats to benefit from race-baiting.
