California fighting Feds Over Increased Water Storage

Here is a crazy story about a plan to raise the Shasta dam in California to increase the amount of water available in the state that is being vigorously opposed by - drumroll please - the state of California.
e Federal government wants to increase water storage for the semi-arid state - the radical environmentalists in the California government want to keep California thirsty.

"The Trump administration is embracing a proposal to raise the height of the Shasta Dam in Northern California, the Los Angeles Times notes, to provide additional water storage to the thirsty Golden State.
But California’s government is trying to stop the project, thanks largely to the influence of environmental groups that have staunchly opposed the construction or expansion of dams in recent decades. A local Native American tribe, the Winnemem Wintu, also opposes raising the dam.:

"In an interview in 2014, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) complained to Breitbart News that the federal and state governments were both opposed to increasing water storage in California. "We are being governed by people who are out of their minds,†he said.
As Breitbart News noted, "McClintock suggested raising the height of the Shasta Dam from the current 600 feet to 800 feet, as originally designed. That, he said, would add nine million acre-feet to its existing storage capacity–double its present volume.â€
The dam is located on federal land. But state law prohibits raising it. The federal government is pushing ahead with the project, regardless."

Now, California has suffered from severe water shortages in recent years, and in fact the storage capacity in California was determined largely during the Second World War, when the population was a fraction of what it is today. Yet California resists increasing storage capacity, even while inviting aliens - both legal and invasive - to pour into the state.
There are a few reasons why the Left seeks to do this. They want to turn the Golden State back into scruffy brushland, and they want to be able to blame Global Warming. That they are willing to injure their own citizens to do this is proof postive that liberals do not care a wit about people but only about their Progressive ideals and beliefs.
