Berkeley Bans Gas Stoves

Timothy Birdnow

If you need any more proof that "climate change" is not about protecting the environment read this.

The Gang Green is starting to show their hand...

In July, in an effort to combat global warming, Berkeley, California, became the first city in the United States to prohibit natural gas in new buildings, including residential homes.

"We need to tackle climate change every way that we can," said Berkeley City Councilwoman Kate Harrison, who led the effort.

Of all fossil fuels natural gas is the cleanest and generates the smallest amount of carbon dioxide of any major fuel. But the Kooks at Berkeley are going to ban it anyway.

So instead the residents will use electric stoves powered by natural gas-generated electricity produced miles away at a big transmission loss. Brilliant.

No doubt people who use gas for cooking now will simply convert to propane and lug in tanks.

And what happens when another blackout occurs? They shut the power down during the California wildfires a few months back. So, not only will you not have lights but you won't be able to cook if you don't have propane, either. What then? Everyone will be out barbecuing and you'll have MORE wildfires! And of course you cook with charcoal, which will release a LOT of carbon dioxide, far more than natural gas.

The sole purpose of this is to drive people to use wind and solar, particularly solar. They want everyone to have to invest in solar panels for their rooftops.

And have blackouts when they have a couple of days of rain.

This accomplishes nothing, and I suspect the city council of Berkeley knows it. It is a symbolic gesture designed to make people a part of the crime. That's how you secure obedience in an unsavory project, by getting people to take a symbolic act, thus wedding them to the cause.

So many things in the modern age are intended to serve that purpose; separating your trash, for instance. That could be done just as easily by the trash company at the end and would be if it had any financial benefit. But they don't want that; they want YOU to do it, as a sacrament. It's why they want co-ed bathrooms. It's why they want us to publicly affirm that there are multiple sexes. It's why they push for as many abortions as they can get.

They need to make us complicit.  Once we have done these things and agreed to them we can't turn away.

It's clear that is the idea here. They want everyone to feel like they are part of the crusade.

1 Actually, separating the trash can't be done by the trash company. That's why China quit buying our recyclables. They were being separated by our trash companies and were not being separated correctly. Too much plastic and metal in the bundled paper. Too much glass in the plastic. Etcetera.

Take a look at one of those recycling plants. The machine does some separating, but the final stage is a conveyor belt with people standing on both sides sorting out stuff that doesn't belong. The belt moves about 100mph, far too fast for the eye to follow. They miss most of it.

2 Good point Bill. I have little doubt though that if there was a financial benefit the trash companies would develop a better way to do it.

3 I'm tempted to say if you live in Berkeley you deserve this sort of thing, but there are probably some decent folks who live there too, maybe can't afford to move out or buy property elsewhere, so I will only say the people in Berkeley who voted for this deserve it.

6 Speaking of barbecuing, I have relatives in the "Peoples' Republic of Kalifornica," and therefore have reliable information that if you don't barbecue once or twice a week, they revoke your state citizenship.
