Cosmic rays, high-energy particles raining down from exploded stars, knock electrons out of air molecules. This produces ions, that is, positive and negative molecules in the atmosphere.
The ions help aerosols – clusters of mainly sulphuric acid and water molecules – to form and become stable against evaporation. This process is called nucleation. The small aerosols need to grow nearly a million times in mass in order to have an effect on clouds.
The second role of ions is that they accelerate the growth of the small aerosols into cloud condensation nuclei – seeds on which liquid water droplets form to make clouds. The more ions the more aerosols become cloud condensation nuclei. It is this second property of ions which is the new result published in Nature Communications.

Variations in the Sun’s magnetic activity alter the influx of cosmic rays to the Earth.
When the Sun is lazy, magnetically speaking, there are more cosmic rays and more low clouds, and the world is cooler.
When the Sun is active fewer cosmic rays reach the Earth and, with fewer low clouds, the world warms up.
The implications of the study suggests that the mechanism can have affected:
The climate changes observed during the 20th century
The coolings and warmings of around 2°C that have occurred repeatedly over the past 10,000 years, as the Sun’s activity and the cosmic ray influx have varied.

Spirits of '76

I was working on a poem in honor of Independence Day but ran out of time to work on it. Here is the first draft. Don't know if it was going to be any good or not but it's what it is

Zion, far on the horizon, that glittering jewel, a dream across the sea
called out to prophets and paupers and laborers
all dreaming to be free

They sailed for months in rickety ships
that were cold and had drips
tossed on stormy seas
their food hardtack with weevils, their bodies diseased
Their drink crawling and green, and their bodies so lean
but always their eyes on the promised land
Zion, as they would flee across the sea

They came and built their farms and towns
dug canals and built their lives for themselves and their wives
carved from a wilderness both savage and remote
they prayed to their great good God with thanksgiving and hope

And always their eyes on Zion, the jewel, the Promised Land

But then their tranquility was torn away, as the French and the English acted their play
And the king and his Commons came over to stay, and thus tjeu decreed a great tax they should pay

And another and another.

The Colonists finally decided enough
the British wanted to play rough
and they went before George to ask for his mercy
But merciless and cruel was the insane fool
and he sneered at the rough hewn colonials
with their homespun ragged clothes and their pious simplicity posed
an insult to so majestic a being!

Like the serpent in Eden King George looked to despoil Zion
And he ordered his troops to crush Boston and Concord
but those who did flee from the Mother over the sea
refused to be back in her bosom
Patriots poured forth from the land
to his brother a strong helping hand
while the bloodbacks retreated, defiled and defeated
Colonists spilling their blood on the sand

In any man's life there comes a point where one must choose one's destiny, or it will be chosen for him though he may not agree.
The wise men of the 13 came together to chart this course for their lands. Not to the sound of bands, or the clapping of hands, but quietly it seems, almost the stuff of dreams

The young man Jefferson, his elder friend Franklin, Adams, Sherman and Livingston put quill to paper and told the imperial raper to leave
They announced we were free and the British should flee
and that henceforth Americans we would be

It was a bold, bold act for a rope awaited them back in the British citadels The sobering fact was their bodies would stack
If King George got a crack at them

But John Hancock just smiled and he laughed like a child and signed the treasonous paper with a flourish

On that day American was born, our allegiance to Britain was torn
on that day in defiance we said "no more!" tp the the tyrant
on that day these brave men risked their whole lives, their fortunes and wives, their businesses and health and homes, to stand for a course where we aren't ruled just by force
without a bloated sovereign bossing us around and driving our people into the ground.

While a war was still waged and the British raged and the graves grew quite full of dead
both American and Red
In the end it was unstoppable, a tidal wave, an outpouring of the spirit that had led these people to settle in Zion in the first place
They came on God's grace
and nobody could drive them from that exulted a place
the British lost before the fight was engaged
the fight they waged
was doomed to defeat
for ours was a trumpet that would not sound retreat

Grateful and humble Americans should be
we won our great war on both land and in the sea

Freedom was ours as long as we wanted it
sadly the hour draws nigh when it no longer fits
Where is the spirit of '76?
It has vanished in vanity, soft living and tricks
Where are the Patriots who spoke such brave words?
they're broke in their basements and playing Angry Birds
Or leading the charge against statues of Founders
While America teeters and freedom just flounders
Our ancestor settled to avoid being slaves
But now we allow them to be taken from their graves
If we don't remember our heroes and God
we will surely feel the strike of His rod
Our Patriot heroes died or were maimed
I fear that they now must just feel ashamed

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Anniversary of Vicksburg and Gettysburg

One hundred sixty years ago today, on July 3, 1863, Robert E. Lee was defeated by General Meade's Union forces at Gettysburg. And even more significantly, on July 4, General Ulysses Grant achieved victory at Vicksburg essentially cleaving the Confederacy in two and dooming it to defeat, though the war would drag on for two more bloody years.

Tim adds:

Gettysburg was Lees biggest blunder in the war. He allowed the Union to get up in the hills around Gettysburg, take the high ground, and then in a fit of hubris tried to take those hills by a direct assault.

It was a monumentally stupid move. His right hand man, Gen. James Longstreet, argued that they could just bypass the Union forces. With the Union entrenched up on those mountains the road was clear all the way to Washington and they could just hustle towards Mr. Lincoln. The whole idea was to sack Washington and terrify the Union into suing for peace. It may well have worked; the average citizen wasn't very enthusiastic about this war anyway, and this would suggest there was no point in continuing.

But Lee kept winning, and so went in overconfident, believing his troops could not lose.

After attempting to take the flanks (most notably at Little Roundtop, where a desperate gambit by Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain of Maine - a bayonet charge since the Maine boys were out of ammunition) Lee decided the middle must be vulnerable.

He set three divisions to attack the center. Ultimately led by Longstreet, the main charge was led by George Pickett, a man who finished dead last in his class at West Point and had no idea what he was doing (he hadn't seen any real combat). Pickett's charge was a total disaster. The guns ran out of ammunition before clearing the center and so Pickett had to begin his charge earlier than planned. It was a bloodbath, with cannons bombarding them from all over the field of battle. The Confederates had to walk over a mile of open ground, and were stopped at a fence which they had to climb under heavy enemy fire. Then they had to assault a stone wall, just as the Union did at Fredericksburg.

By the end of the charge there were few people left. Pickett, when told by Gen. Lee to look to his division, famously said "General, I have no division". They were all dead.

Lee high tailed it and ran. At that point they were vulnerable but the Union Commander, Gen. George Meade, did not give chase (ultimately leading to his being sacked by Lincoln).

(BTW, you couldn't tell the Georges without a scorecard, could you?)

So the Army of Northern Virginia lived to fight another day, but they were so decimated by this fight they couldn't ever mount an offensive against the Union again. It became a matter of running and running...

Had Lee listened to Longstreet and moved off from Gettysburg he could have found a place with high ground HE could occupy, and then make the Union assault their fortified position. It would have been a disaster. Worse, Lee could have taken D.C., forced Lincoln to flee, and then offered generous terms for a conditional surrender.

But Lee got cocky and it cost the Confederacy their freedom. They couldn't afford to make any mistakes.

With the great victory at Gettysburg Lincoln saw new life breathed into his campaign for the Presidency. Suddenly the war was winnable and the public was willing to give him more time. Prior to that his primary challenge from his old Gen. George McClellan would probably have succeeded - and McClellan promised to make peace with the Confederacy.

So everything hinged on this victory.

This was a momentous day.

As for Vicksburg, Gen. Grant had been rolling like a juggernaut through Tennessee and down to Vicksburg, Mississippi,which was the last bastion of the Confederacy along the Mississippi River.  Once Vicksburg fell the entire western Confederacy was cut off from the rest of the country. That was Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas. It meant the Union could move men and supplies along the Mississippi river, as well as the Ohio, and Missouri.

Actually, Vicksburg was a definite change for the fortunes of Grant, who had been taking his enemies quickly and decisively up to that point. But Vicksburg was a long, bitter siege that bogged Grant down for a while.
The siege lasted almost two months.

The only offensive launched by the Confederates in the West after this was the invasion by Gen. Stirling Price into Missouri. Price, who was a former Mo. governor, led a large force into southeast Missouri with the intention of seizing St. Louis. But he made the exact same mistake Lee had made a Gettysburg a year before, attacking a well defended fort (Fort Davisson) and taking so many casualties he couldn't prosecute his assault on St. Louis. After piddling around attacking Jefferson City he gave up and returned to Arkansas, the last major offensive of the western war.

After Vicksburg Grant and his able if a bit vicious sidekick William Tecumseh Sherman began moving through the Mississippi delta towards Virginia. Grant would be put in charge of the Army of the Potomac and would invade Virginia, and with the help of Sherman's infamous March to the Sea would decimate the heart of the Confederacy.

But that is a story for another day.

At any rate, this was a very critical point in U.S. history and one well worth remembering.

It's almost comical that with atmospheric CO2 levels at just over 400 parts per million, we have people protesting in the streets in fear of climate catastrophe. The Earth's atmospheric CO2 content has been many times greater during most of the past including an estimated 7,000 ppm 540 million years ago when most of the ancestors to our animal life emerged.

In fact when atmospheric CO2 dramatically slumped to below 500ppm between 400 - 300 million years ago, a great deal of the Earth's plant and animal life died, laying down the material which would eventually become our fossil fuels.

Scientists know higher rates of atmospheric CO2 is beneficial. One major study published in 2016 revealed that from a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands had shown significant greening over the previous 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2016/carbon-dioxide-fertilization-greening-earth

Like I said, it would be funny, that with just over 400ppm CO2 in the atmosphere there's a massive push to reduce CO2 emissions, that is, if it wasn't destroying our standard of living.

One thing is certain China and Russia and other despotic regimes are cheering on the self destruction in the West, while increasing their CO2 emissions.

Biden's economic adviser Brian Deese tells Americans to suck it up over high gas prices as it's the price we have to pay for the New World Order.

The Daily Mail dishes:

US families should suffer high gas prices to protect 'the liberal world order', Biden's economic advisor Brian Deese says when asked what he would say to Americans who can't afford $4.85 a gallon

• 'What do you say to those families that say, 'listen, we can't afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years?' the advisor was asked
• 'This is about the future of the Liberal World Order and we have to stand firm,' he replied
• 'You have a president and an administration that is going to do everything in its power to blunt those price increases and bring those prices down,' he added
• Republicans said Deese's comments prove the administration is out of touch

Unvaccinated People With Natural Immunity Are Safer. Depriving Covid-19 Patients Of Ivermectin Treatment Cost Suffering And Lives

Research has shown unvaccinated people who gained natural immunity were far better protected against getting Covid-19, and against serious Covid-19.

Australia has largely abandoned its vaccine mandates.

There has been no apology to those who lost their jobs for refusing to be jabbed, or who lost their lives, or their good health, following vaccination.

Not only has Australia wasted billions of dollars on lockdowns, it has damaged the health of the vast majority of Australians [due to vaccine mandates] by making them more vulnerable to infection with Covid.

An Israeli study of 5.7 million people, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in June, shows that unvaccinated people who gained immunity through infection, were far better protected from Covid than people who were double vaccinated. And ......it showed that unvaccinated people with natural immunity were also better protected from severe Covid.

It might also explain why excess mortality continues to run at a record high. Excess deaths in March were still almost 10 per cent above the historical baseline and deaths for the first three months of the year were 17.5 per cent higher than the historical average.

This spectacular public health failure was undoubtedly exacerbated by the failure to heed the lessons of early treatment of Covid-19. This time last year, on 26 June, NSW entered its long Delta lockdown. At that time, India was just emerging from its Delta spike. On 26 June 2021, Covid deaths in India were 284 per million, while in Australia they were only 35 per million. A year later on 26 June, deaths per million in Australia and India are identical – 376 per million. What happened?

A year ago, health officials in Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India, with 240 million inhabitants, advised that they were using a multi-drug cocktail of repurposed medications including ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine to treat Covid with astonishing success. From a peak of 34,455 on 29 April, cases plunged to 178 on 26 June. A year later there is an average of one death per day.

The contrast with Australia could not be more stark. Australia’s public health officers weren’t content simply to disregard the evidence of Uttar Pradesh’s success with a multi-drug therapy that included ivermectin, the TGA went further than any other country in the world and on 10 September 2021 banned the use of ivermectin for the treatment of Covid.

How many people suffered unduly or died, simply because our TGA banned the safe, effective use of multi-drug treatment of Covid-19 cases including with Ivermectin?

Fuel me once shame on you, fuel me twice shame on me! Sadly, too many people have always believed in peak oil because they have heard it over and over. But wells often refill over time, something we would nto expect if oil was a limited commodity.

In 1892, at the Geneva Convention, the smartest man in the oil industry J.D. Rockefeller paid scientists to call oil a 'fossil fuel' to induce the idea of scarcity, in order to set a 'world price for oil'. The truth is that oil is actually the second-most prevalent liquid on earth next to water, and regenerates within the earth faster than it can ever be deleted.
Fuel was free once. Rothschild and BlackRock blamed miners strike on fuel shortages to scam people into paying for it.

What is the purpose of words? They are sounds used to describe reality and transmit information. There is no other real purpose. Even the most subjective, emotional word usage is still about accurately describing reality - how you feel. So this is entirely correct; personal pronouns choose you, because they are describing a reality you may or may not like. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it inaccurate. I don't like a lot of things; racism, communism, pedophilia, etc. but I can hardly change them by changing the words I use to describe them. We all know what I mean by each and every one of those words, because they have a set meaning. Making words relative is an act of the insane. Humpty Dumpty did that, if you recall. And societies do that to cover up reality. Confucious said to restore a nation you must first true the language; apparently ancient China had problems with twisting the meaning of words all the way back then. But Nature is true, and God is the author of Nature and He most certainly is true and honest. Anything less is in the service of evil and Satan, quite frankly.
