British Rape Gangs and the Silence of the Me Too Movement

Timothy Birdnow

Britain descends into Dhimmi status:

Cops: Muslim Sex Grooming Gangs "Didn’t Understand That It Was Wrong"

From the article by Daniel Greenfield:

The report chronicles how Operation Augusta was launched and then scuttled after her death in 2003, despite identifying 97 suspects and 57 victims. The victims were, "mostly white girls aged between 12 and 16”, and the perpetrators were, "mostly men of ‘Asian heritage’”. By ‘Asian’, the report means "predominantly Pakistani men” though at least one of the perpetrators was apparently Tunisian.

Constable B, the anonymous cop responsible for some of the most revealing quotes in the report, said, "What had a massive input was the offending target group were predominantly Asian males and we were told to try and get other ethnicities.”

Mohammed Yaqoob, the pedophile who had forcibly injectedVictoria with heroin and was cleared of manslaughter charges, was not the sort of pedophile the Manchester cops were supposed to find.

A meeting at Greater Manchester Police headquarters "acknowledged that the enquiry was sensitive due to the involvement of Asian men” and worried over "the incitement of racial hatred.” There were concerns about "the damaged relations following Operation Zoological.” Those were the police raids targeting Iraqi refugees involved in an alleged Al Qaeda plot to bomb a soccer stadium in Manchester.

Some in the GMP didn’t see the point to stopping the rape of young girls because of cultural differences.

"There was an educational issue. Asian males didn’t understand that it was wrong, and the girls were not quite there. They were difficult groups to deal with. We can’t enforce our way out of the problem,” Constable B said.

And so they didn’t.

Sexual slavery for infidels is acceptable under Sharia law and these bastards damned well knew it was illegal, but just didn't care about laws made by "infidels". It's how they advance Sharia. You guys in Britain are going to lose your country if you don't wake up. If Muslims keep coming they will eventually make you a part of the hoped for Caliphate.

In the Me Too era, our brave defenders of feminine virtue are strangely silent.

Arguing with Idiots, Greta Edition II

Timothy Birdnow

More arguing with someone with climate on the brain:

From the wet brained Henry:

i've never heard her even raise her voice, but "EVERYONE PANIC" is an excellent choice of words give our present dire straits.. but she sated "don't worry, no one hardly listened to me"

From me:

Strange; these people tell me to shut up because I am not a climate scientist but are eager to hear from an ignorant girl with a mental disorder. Makes perfect sense to me!

This from another respondent, Doug:

Of course

What is interesting is there are really very few "climate scientists "
In order to qualify I would think a number of disciplines are needed .
Physics, Astronomy, Geology, engineering , meteorology, Biologist and more.
Having trained in a number of these fields , either formal or autodidactic ,would seem to me necessary.
We very likely have more to learn about drivers of climate than we know to this point . But that’s why Science is so interesting .

Just goes to show it’s always something

Henry the Alarmist jumps in:

Greta truly does no care about criticism, she and countless brilliant people knows she's right, and history will prove it. So, if she does not care, I don't care about your personal assaults on me. Bring it on, she will still be one of my heroes...

My reply:

Excellent points, Doug. There is so little crossover between disciplines these days, and so we wind up with climatologists assuming co2 as the primary driver of planetary temperatures because that is all they know. It's why Heirich Svensmark was poo-pooed, by so many "climate scientists" because they had no experience with the type of research he was doing. (He's been largely proven correct about cosmic rays and cloud cover.)

We have unidimensional thinking in so much of this.

Oh, and I always love when they say "scientists agree" here. They ignore the Oregon Petition, for example, which - even if we subtract 90% of the signatures, still has a larger statistical sampling than does the Oreskes or Cook surveys.

Oh, and Henry H. Kellam III, the really big money is om the side of the Alarmists, who have the very wealthy NGO's, such as the Audubon Society, Greenpeace, etc. as well as large donations from all major corporations as well as outfits like the MacArthur Fund and, most importantly, vast sums of money from the U.S. government as well as other governments around the world AND the United Nations. What do the "deniers" have? Even the most hated company of all - Exxon Mobile - flipped sides when Rex Tillerson was CEO and now helps fund and support Global Warming Alarmism. The money is all on your side, my friend. All the "deniers" (a malicious term designed to slander people who disagree) is the Truth.

Arguing with Idiots, Greta Edition

Timothy Birdnow

In a recent Facebook discussion on Greta Thurnberg and Global Warming one of the interlocutors had this to say:

i've never heard her even raise her voice, but "EVERYONE PANIC" is an excellent choice of words give our present dire straits.. but she sated "don't worry, no one hardly listened to me"

(BTW I reproduced this as is; the sentence structure and other mistakes are all his.)

I replied:

Previous generations had the Depression, the Second World War, the Cold War. Young people in particular want to think they are at least as put upon as their elders so they jump on board with this stupidity.

Global Warming is as bad as the Soviet threat of nuclear war to them, because they don't have such threats to worry about. And they complain about how terrible life in America is these days when they are living in an economic paradise with material wealth undreamed of by their grandparents. They really are the ultimate in ungrateful snots.

So Scoldilocks suggests we all panic over hot air because she has nothing to really worry about.

I've a few suggestions; try worrying about Iranian nuclear weapons, or some terrorists using CRISPR technology to create a terrible plague. That ought to keep you busy for a while.

He replied:

Timothy, I would TOTALLY agree with what you said, if global warming was "stupidity", and not the threat to end ALL for humankind as we know it!!! Criticizing her is what big money wants for the climate denier movement that let's them continue down a path of destruction of mother earth.

My response:

Global warming isn't threatening to end all life. The hysteria there is astonishing.

First, the evidence is woefully lacking. There is no hot spot in the tropical troposphere, as the models predict. There has been no major increase in the rate of sea level rise, another fundamental pillar in the alarmist model. Planetary temperatures have risen, but we were told by now they would be much higher and, frankly, the "hottest year on record" claims are always statistically tied with other hot years, many of them in the thirties, well before the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Antarctica has been gaining land ice mass, btw.

And there has been no disappearance of low lying atolls in the oceans. On the contrary, a number of Pacific atolls have actually gotten bigger. https://dailycaller.com/2018/02/09/study-pacific-islands-getting-bigger-despite-rising-seas/

People are not rushing to sell sea front property. They are buying. That includes major corporations that hire top scientists to privately give them the information.

And what evidence do we have that co2 will raise temperatures markedly? It certainly has not done so on Mars, which has an atmosphere that is 95% carbon dioxide but much of the Martian atmosphere is frozen out as dry ice. Why? Because it's COLD on Mars! Scientists agree Mars receives enough energy to be much warmer, but it isn't. IF carbon dioxide were such a powerful greenhouse gas wouldn't Mars at least be warm enough to keep the atmosphere from freezing in winter?

In fact, Roger Revelle himself argued for no more than a 2 degrees C. rise in atmospheric temperatures before the logarithmic nature of the process choked it off. The real argument is over feedbacks. Alarmists claim positive feedbacks caused by increased atmospheric humidity will eventually release methane and warm the Earth a lot. Others argue it will do no such thing, that an increase in atmospheric water vapor will increase planetary albedo (clouds will form) and reflect energy back into space. As of now we do not see an increase in precipitation worldwide, nor do we see an increase in planetary albedo. In fact, between 2000 and 2004 NASA's Earth Observatory reported a DECREASE in planetary albedo. https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/5484/earths-albedo-in-decline Given that we came off of the peak of global warming, that should not have happened. But it did.
Note too that planetary temperatures are still largely stagnant, after peaking in the late nineties. This too is in violation of the models. And they haven't found the "missing heat" which they assured us was in the oceans.

This is grounds for panic? We don't have anything but flawed computer models. If a model fails to predict things then it is of little value. And these models failed to predict current conditions when input with past data. In short, they are largely worthless.

But we are supposed to freak out over this, and impose draconian regulations and world government, and redistribute wealth, all on this basis?

Anyone remember the eugenics scares of the early twentieth century? Turns out Mankind did not devolve into animal barbarism (except in Congress). But some people just have to have a bogyman to hide from.

And it should be pointed out that the Earth has both had much higher temperatures in the past than now AND much higher carbon dioxide levels (during colder temperatures, I might add.) Not sure how a degree of warming constitutes an extinction event.

This is Millenialism. It's a prophecy of doomsday designed to scare people into rash action, action that can be controlled and guided to drive social change. And a lot of people are making a lot of money off of this. There is a huge vested interest in the success of Climate Change Alarmism.

I'll post it if he responds, but I rather doubt it will be more than a "nyuh, uh! But what are YOU!" type of reply.

Lots of new unrest in Puerto Rico

Dana Mathewson

The headline in Twitchy reads

Everything seems rather calm in Puerto Rico, just a guillotine being set up at the governor’s mansion while the…WAIT, WHUT?!?!

Those with decent memories remember Hurricane Maria that devastated Puerto Rico a few years ago. President Trump sent a bunch of aid, but the Mayor of San wasn't grateful and pulled the usual Democrat shenanigans. Now it appears that all the aid earmarked for San Juan went into warehouses and stagnated there. What a surprise. Well...

Things have been rather dicey down in the US territory of Puerto Rico since…well for generations now. While the island has been dealing with the aftermath of significant earthquakes weeks back, compounding ongoing stresses brought on by the massive hurricane last year, things are starting to possibly reach a breaking point for citizens.

They were marching on the governor’s mansion, setting up a guillotine in the capitol square.

This week came news reports earthquake victims in need of emergency provisions raiding a warehouse that had stored relief supplies following Hurricane Maria’s devastation. These supplies had been sitting dormant, never getting distributed. This echoes similar stories that came out after the hurricane when aid remained stagnant at the ports. It now seems the residents are not as eager to believe leaders pointing the blame at the White House.

Well, whattya know! The article from this point is mostly a series of Tweets, but they get the point across quite nicely. The citizens are annoyed now that they are aware of the, er, governmental malfeasance, and are making that annoyance known. I'd say it's about time.

More naked tyranny in Virginia

Dana Mathewson

Not since the Alien and Sedition Acts promulgated during John Adams' administration have we seen anything like this!

FREE SPEECH

Virginia Democrats Push Legislation to Make Criticism of Government Officials a Criminal Offense

In the wake of the Virginia gun rights rally on Monday, Democrats in the Capitol are not slowing down their push for tyranny. They are moving a bill through the legislature that would effectively criminalize dissent against Governor "Blackface" Northam and other state government officials.

House Bill 1627 was introduced by Delegate Jeffrey M. Bourne last week. The legislation "provides that certain crimes relating to threats and harassment may be prosecuted in the City of Richmond if the victim is the Governor, Governor-elect, Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant Governor-elect, Attorney General, or Attorney General-elect, a member or employee of the General Assembly, a justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, or a judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.”

Language in the bill explicitly criminalizes free speech, in what would constitute a blatant attack on the 1st Amendment of the Constitution.

"If any person, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, or harass any person, shall use a computer or computer network to communicate obscene, vulgar, profane, lewd, lascivious, or indecent language, or make any suggestion or proposal of an obscene nature, or threaten any illegal or immoral act, he is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor,” the legislation reads.

The legislation makes it clear that the above provision applies directly to "the Governor, Governor-elect, Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant Governor-elect, Attorney General, or Attorney General-elect, a member or employee of the General Assembly, a justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, or a judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia,” which means this legislation effectively criminalizes dissent against public officials.

Tina Freitas, wife of Republican Delegate Nick Freitas, called attention to this intolerable act in a Facebook post on Tuesday night.

"Wow on cue, now they are after the 1A! Dems are trying to set up special rules exclusive to the Elite ruling class, to protect themselves from criticism!” Freitas wrote.

"What is considered harassment? Is Governor Infanticide/KKK Hood trying to avoid being held accountable? Are we no longer allowed to demand justice for the alleged rape victims of LG Fairfax? This is some straight up communist censorship!” she added.

Virginia Democrats were not detracted by the gun rights rally on Monday in the slightest. They moved red flag laws through the legislature just a day later, and subsequently killed pro-gun bills that were introduced by Republicans.

"The governor and the leadership of the democrats have declared war on law-abiding citizens and gun owners and their votes today just confirmed that that’s where we’re going,” said Philip Van Cleave, President of Virginia Citizens Defense League.

Yikes! Whoever is behind this (my guess is Bloomberg and Soros), they are pushing too fast, and that may save us. At any rate, if you have friends in The Old Dominion, urge them to oppose this! And RESIST!

The Problems with the Trump impeachment

This from Willis Eschenbach:

So let's review the bidding. The Democrats say that President Trump insisted on a quid pro quo with Ukraine. The quid pro quo was supposedly that President Trump wouldn't release the foreign aid until Ukraine investigated the corruption at Burisima and the firing of the prosecutor investigating it. Generally, this is called "blackmail". So lets look at the facts:

• The transcript of the phone call shows Trump saying:

===
"The other thing, There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it ... It sounds horrible to me."
===

Next, here's what Quid Pro Joe Biden publically said that the President is referring to:

===
""I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden told the 2018 audience in recounting what he told Poroshenko

"Well, son of a bitch, he got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time,” Biden told the Council on Foreign Relations event.
===

Sounds horrible to me as well ...

So let's be clear. Joe Biden claimed he blackmailed the Ukrainians into stopping an investigation into his son, Quid Pro Blow Biden ... and President Trump is now facing impeachment for asking the Ukrainians to find out if what Joe said was true.

Say what?

• Was this a political mistake? Yes, obviously. But is it an illegal abuse of power for a President to ask a foreign country to investigate corruption? Absolutely not.

• Next, President Trump said there was no quid pro quo.

• The transcript of the phone call shows no quid pro quo.

• The Ukrainian President said there was no quid pro quo.

• The Ukrainian Vice-President said there was no quid pro quo.

• There was a delay in the foreign aid, because by law we can't provide aid to corrupt countries and they had to investigate.

• However, the Ukranians never even knew the aid was delayed.

• The Ukranians did NOT start an investigation into corruption, of Quid Pro Blow or anyone else.

• Despite them NOT starting an investigation, the Ukranians got the foreign aid, more than Obama ever gave them.

If that was an attempt to blackmail Ukraine, it was not just unsuccessful—it was non-existent.

So let's be clear. Joe Biden successfully blackmailed the Ukrainian government by threatening to withhold a billion taxpayer dollars unless they agreed to fire the prosecutor investigating his son Hunter's blatant corruption ...

This is perhaps the ultimate irony. The President is accused of an impeachable offense for NOT doing what Joe Biden boasted about successfully doing.

We live in strange times, friends. My solution?

Require a 2/3 vote in the House before they can start an Impeachment. If they can't get that, their case is far too weak.

Here's a bit more interesting information ... turns out Trump delayed the aid to Ukraine in 2017 as well, and for the same reason—concerns about corruption.

https://twitter.com/joelpollak/status/1220067053240901632

More inconvenient facts ... Ukraine aid wasn't the only aid held up.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/11/20/david-hale-aid-was-held-up-to-lebanon-central-america-alongside-ukraine/?fbclid=IwAR3rcPqM9EwMrpVf7D9Qgh4mZ5ibeD3wg5DZ8s10LBm-jzqEzNd0IfeIoT0

A NOTE FROM TIM:

Willis, you point out "Here's a bit more interesting information ... turns out Trump delayed the aid to Ukraine in 2017 as well, and for the same reason—concerns about corruption" I find that interesting because in 2017 Al Green and Steve Cohen and a bunch of Democratic co-sponsors put forward a bill of impeachment against President Trump https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-resolution/621/text and there was no mention of THIS in their attempt. Funny; we are supposed to believe Trump is guilty of this particular non-crime when in fact they had already tried to impeach him over "Russian collusion" and failed.

They've been trying to impeach this guy since he won the office. But it is all down the memory hole because it makes the Democrats look bad.

Marie Yovanovitch; Corruptocrat and Liar

Timothy Birdnow

At the heart of the impeachment of President Trump is former Ambassador Marie Yavonovitch. Yavonovitch is an interesting character at the heart of this, because she has so many interesting connections.

First off, she was an Obama appointee. When Congress became interested in Hunter Biden she testified before them - and admitted she was coached on how to answer them so as not to spill any beans aka how to lie to Congress.

According to Conservative Treehouse:

Representative Elise Stefanik brought to light interesting information today surrounding how the Obama administration was concerned about issues surrounding Vice-President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his connection to a corrupt Ukraine company Burisma. This revelation directly contradicted the Yovanovitch opening statement.

During questioning Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch admitted the Obama White House spent time briefing her on how to respond to congress if questions about Hunter Biden and Burisma were raised. This testimony highlights the concerns by the Obama administration about a clear issue with the Biden family and corrupt Ukraine interests.

This admission by former Ambassador Yovanovitch directly contradicted her testimony that was made only minutes before the admission. From her opening statement:

The Glass Brain

When Mt. Vesuvius erupted and destroyed Pompeii in 79 A.D. it also destroyed the seaside resort of Herculaneum. Well, some guy got his brains turned to glass, or at least a similar material, inside his skull.

He was identified as the custodian of the College of the Augustales, so he was an egghead before Vesuvius made him a glass head.

I bet he'd be a Democrat today.

I've heard of a glass eye, but a glass brain?

Another Day, Another Bernie Sanders Genocidal Maniac

Timothy Birdnow

Another "Bern-er" calls for re-education camps, "guillotine the rich" campaign.

From the article by James O'Keefe:

(Charleston, SC) In last week’s videos, Project Veritas Action Fund exposed the shocking comments of an Iowa Field Organizer for the Bernie Sanders Presidential Campaign, Kyle Jurek. In today’s new video, a South Carolina Field Organizer for the Sanders Campaign, Martin Weissgerber, is secretly recorded praising the Soviet Union, admitting his fantasies about forcing a violent overthrow of the United States federal government, and speaking favorably about forcing Americans into "Re-Education Camps.” He even speaks of decapitating people once his socialist revolution succeeds. Weissgerber, who also describes himself as a Communist, reveals that he has been radicalized from a very young age by both of his parents. The recordings of Weissgerber combined with the recordings released last week of Kyle Jurek, give insight into the mindset of many Sanders staffers and what they truly believe

Indian Chief Justice Calls Excessive Taxation Social Injustice

Timothy Birdnow

The Chief Justice of India's Supreme Court has called excessive taxation a "social injustice".

From The Millenium Post:

In his address at at an event held to mark the 79th Foundation ceremony of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Chief Justice Bobde said imposition of excessive tax is also a kind of social injustice on the people.

"While tax evasion is a social injustice to fellow citizens, arbitrary or excessive tax also results in social injustice by a government."

He clearly isn't running for President of the United States as a Democrat.

AOC, Sanders, and the Injun could learn from our brother of color from the subcontinent.

Mike Huckabee: Trump and religious liberty -- Militant atheists have met their match with our president

Dana Mathewson

Here's one reason I like Mike Huckabee -- articles like this one, and the thinking behind it. A few years ago he ran for the presidency. I'm rather glad he didn't get it, because he wouldn't be available to write articles like these.

Few politicians in Washington, even Republicans, have ever defended our Christian heritage on the national stage as fiercely as President Trump. His executive order affirming the religious liberty of public school students is just the latest example.

For the first time in nearly two decades, the order updates federal guidance to better protect students’ rights to engage in prayer and other forms of religious expression. Under the new rules, schools must certify every year that they do not have policies that restrict constitutionally-protected religious rights, such as the freedom to pray or read religious texts on school grounds. Schools that maintain non-compliant policies would lose their federal funding.

This is a big win for religious freedom advocates, who have found their rights and beliefs under increasingly withering assault from the left for decades. In the 1990s, when the campaign against public religiosity began to spiral out of control, both the federal government and more than 20 states passed Religious Freedom Restoration Acts to restore strict constitutional scrutiny for policies that restrict citizens’ exercise of religion. With those laws continually weakened and challenged in the courts, Trump’s executive order provides a new and effective remedy to the excesses of the secular left.

But it’s also a big win for everyone who cherishes the freedoms laid out in the U.S. Constitution because imposing any restrictions on those freedoms, whether in a broad or targeted fashion, endangers every right enjoyed by every American citizen. And the efforts to restrict religious liberty in public schools have clearly gotten out of hand, as Education Secretary Betsy DeVos recently pointed out.

Just last year, for instance, a Utah teacher made a 9-year-old Catholic student remove the ashes from his forehead on Ash Wednesday. In Kentucky, a school made a student take down a "prayer locker” she had set up so that classmates could submit anonymous prayer requests. In Washington, a high school football coach was suspended for praying — silently and by himself — after games.

None of these behaviors even came close to infringing on the rights of others, yet overzealous teachers and administrators punished them anyway. It’s the predictable result of a sustained campaign to drive religion from the public square, led by militant atheists who have spent decades convincing parents and teachers that any form of religious expression in any public place is a violation of the First Amendment’s guarantee of religious liberty.

As the president's executive order explains, that’s exactly the opposite of what the Founders intended. The First Amendment is very explicit about the government’s responsibility to respect individual rights, which is why it prohibits Congress from making laws that would restrict free expression, such as establishing a state religion. What the "freedom from religion” crowd wants, however, amounts to the establishment of atheism as America’s official religion, with all the restrictions on free expression that entails.

[...]

This country was founded by pilgrims who sought to escape religious persecution and that heritage is an essential aspect of our character as a nation. Thanks to President Trump’s efforts, we will be able to pass that heritage on to another generation.

Or so we can hope, if we work hard enough to keep Trump and his successors in the White House! Here's the entire article: https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/trump-religious-liberty-atheists-mike-huckabee

The Total Myth of Ocean Acidification

Dana Mathewson

I generally let our site proprietor, Timothy Birdnow, have the fun of writing about Global Warming Climate Change, and engaging with the zealots who support it on Fakebunk and other platforms. But I encountered the following article today and couldn't resist sharing.

Guest myth-busting by David Middleton

From the American Association of Science of America [1]…

Ocean acidification could boost shell growth in snails and sea urchins

By Katie Camero Jul. 23, 2019 , 2:00 PM

The world’s oceans are acidifying rapidly as they soak up massive amounts of the carbon dioxide (CO2) released from burning fossil fuels. That’s bad news for tiny marine critters like coral and sea urchins that make up the base of the ocean food chain: Acidic water not only destroys their shells, but it also makes it harder for them to build new ones. Now, scientists studying sea snails have discovered an unexpected side effect of this acid brew—it can help some of them build thicker, stronger shells by making their food more nutritious.

Often called climate change’s "evil twin,” acidification happens when the ocean absorbs atmospheric CO2. As CO2 dissolves, the process releases hydrogen ions, lowering the water’s pH and increasing its acidity. That acidic water…

[…]

To find out what is happening in the wild, Sean Connell, an ecologist at the University of Adelaide in Australia, and colleagues traveled to underwater CO2 vents off the coast of New Zealand’s White Island (Whakaari). Water near the vents is about as acidic as most of the ocean is predicted to be by the end of the century. The researchers collected five sea snails (Eatoniella mortoni), along with five samples of turf algae, a staple of the sea snails’ diet.

Well, yes, but no. Middleton points out that
The phrase "ocean acidification” was literally invented out of thin air in 2003 by Ken Caldiera to enable liberal arts majors to sound sciencey when scaring the bejesus out of the scientifically illiterate masses. The geochemical process has been well-understood for about 100 years… But didn’t get a crisis-monger nickname until 2003.

[...]

Why do you think the Science! journalist is a Liberal Arts major?

Well… There’s this…

Katie Camero
Katie Camero is a Diverse Voices in Science Journalism intern for the News section ofScience in Washington, D.C.

Science! As in, "she blinded me with…”[2]
A journalist? Things are becoming clearer now.

Then there are the things she wrote in this article…

Note: Most of my rebuttals are from these two WUWT posts:

  1. The Total Myth of Ocean Acidification
  2. The Total Myth of Ocean Acidification, Part Deux: The Scientific Basis

The world’s oceans are acidifying rapidly…

Katie Camero, Liberal Arts major

Horst schist!

[...]

Good fracking grief! Seawater can’t become acidic, at least not under real world conditions. A study of seawater pH near active volcanic CO2vents in the Mediterranean (Kerrison et al., 2011) found that the pH immediately adjacent to the vent was still alkaline, despite being subjected to the equivalent of nearly 5,600 ppm CO2.

There's a lot more, with charts and other real honest-to-goodness science in it, found here https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/07/25/the-total-myth-of-ocean-acidification-science-edition/ and I hope you'll take time to check it out! It will introduce you to the Watts Up With That site, which is NOT fake stuff. It helps to have a background in chemistry (I do not) but don't let that scare you away. I guarantee that the True Believers do not either.

What, you thought that St. Greta of Thunberg does? Ha!

Scoldilocks: "Time to Panic"

This from Willis Eschenbach:

Why do I think Greta is a clueless idiot? At Davos she said "We are still telling you to panic!"

Yes, panicking is such a brilliant response, especially to an "emergency" that you can't even see unless you have a PhD.

Seriously, what problem was EVER made better by panicking? I know of none.

Greta, you can panic if you wish. But unlike your parents, we DO love our children. That's the reason we don't want them to panic.

w.

PS—Don't bother trying to rag on me for commenting on her idiocy because she's only 17. Either Greta is entitled to a full adult voice and a seat at Davos as she's insisted on and gotten, along with all the opportunity for abuse that adult status entails, or she's an innocent child who should go back to school and we shouldn't diss her in any way.

She doesn't get to be both. If you want to run with the big dogs, you gotta get off the porch.

Well, they went and did it.

Yes, the Virginia Senate has passed a bill to take guns away from people they think shouldn't have them.

This will definitely go to court.  It may cost the Democrats at the ballot box come November.

Yes, Virginia is about to pass a "red flag" gun grab law.

Trump to Attend Pro-Life Rally

Trump is going to attend the pro-life rally in Washington, D.C. He will be the first President to do so.

I think the end is nigh for unrestricted abortions, at least if we keep on this track.

State AGs urge Senate to reject impeachment in stinging letter: 'A dangerous historical precedent'

Dana Mathewson

This is some of the most important writing you'll see on the Impeachment Boogie. These State AGs have some very important things to say!

EXCLUSIVE: The attorneys general of 21 states have come forward with a blistering rebuke of the impeachment of President Trump, asserting that it "establishes a dangerous historical precedent."

The Republican attorneys general, in a letter submitted to the Senate Wednesday morning and obtained by Fox News, urged the chamber conducting Trump's trial to "reject" the impeachment articles.

"If not expressly repudiated by the Senate, the theories animating both Articles will set a precedent that is entirely contrary to the Framers' design and ruinous to the most important governmental structure protections contained in our Constitution: the separation of powers," they wrote.

The letter accuses House Democrats of impeaching Trump as a politically motivated response to the 2016 election and warned that it poses a threat to the 2020 election as well.

"Even an unsuccessful effort to impeach the President undermines the integrity of the 2020 presidential election because it weaponizes a process that should only be initiated in exceedingly rare circumstances and should never be used for partisan purposes," the letter continued.

Then the entire letter is available on Scribd. This grinds underfoot the nauseating political posturing of the Democrat House members who, it seems, want only their 15 minutes -- nay, hours -- of fame. The article is here https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ags-urge-senate-to-reject-impeachment-in-stinging-letter-a-dangerous-historical-precedent and you owe it to yourself to read it! Any Democrat who read this should really have his sense of shame triggered up to HIGH.

But if he had any sense of shame, he wouldn't be a Democrat, would he?

UN calls for investigation into alleged Saudi crown prince involvement in Bezos phone hack

Dana Mathewson

Dear Readers, I am well aware, as are you, that international cybercrime is on the rise these days, and that nobody is safe from it. But somehow, the mental picture of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman sitting around on a pile of cushions hacking into other peoples' cell phones just slams me on my funny bone. If the Crown Prince were some spoiled teen-ager who had no goal in life other than causing mischief, well, OK. And yes, the Saudis may not be model citizens, though they are certainly a few cuts about, say, the Iranians.

And if you forced me at gunpoint to say it, I'd have to admit that Jeff Bezos isn't on my list of guys I send gift baskets to at Christmastime either.

I can't copy-and-paste from this CNBC article, so I hope you'll go here https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/22/bezos-phone-hacking-un-calls-for-immediate-investigation.html to read the whole thing. I believe the subject matter is really important even though I began with levity.

Virginia Becoming a Fascist State

Timothy Birdnow

Virginia Democrats are running hog wild, showing just what they will do to the rights of citizens.

VA  Bill to Ban Faith Based Counseling Vote Coming Very Soon

From the article:

SB 245, a bill that would prevent parents from seeking counselling for their children who may struggle with their sexual identity or experience unwanted same-sex attractions, passed a senate committee Thursday morning and will go to the senate floor for a vote any day now.Hereis a bulletin with additional details from the Virginia Family Foundation. (Note that it was written prior to the committee vote Thursday.)

So the State knows best and can override parents in raising children. And they can stop parents from working to normalize their children, thus ultimately making more Democratic voters.

Guess that's why they have to take the citizens' guns away.
