Anything is Possible

I have felt that support for gender-altering medical procedures (to put it very politely) is an achilles heel for the Democrat.
They might get off the hook, however. Medical institutions that have engaged in these procedures are getting hit with a lot of lawsuits from people who have gotten these procedures who have come to the conclusion it was a terrible mistake. And of course the argument is that as children they were not at a level of development to make an informed decision and therefore the medical practitioners are responsible. (apparently to get a tattoo you have to be 18, but to have your genitals removed, or to take puberty blockers, there's no such restriction)
It could be that these practices die out simply because the legal costs will become untenable for the medical establishment.
The Democrats may then be able to weasel out of it. Lord knows they have gotten away with an awful lot scot free. Russiagate, draconian Covid policies, defund the police, etc. Any one of these issues would have been a legitimate reason for the Democratic Party to die.
However, the issue doesn't completely go away. Radical transgender policy is part of the wokeist religion and the true believers who give the Democrats their marching orders are not liable to just let it go. So it's not clear where this ultimately winds up.

The Soviets used to promote insane ideas and force the public to acquiesce to them solely as a tool to bind the public sentiment. People complicit with an obvious lie are part of the system then. I suspect this is what has been happening with Transgenderism; they have used this to get people to say what they know is insane so as to make them part of the Big Lie and thus willing to accept whatever they are told.
They'll drop it in time, probably. Maybe not completely but they'll move on to a more sinister thing, like decriminalizing pedophilia. This was just a transition issue for them.
Once they got people to say there are multiple sexes and you are what you feel then anything is possible.

Transgenderism is just the latest move down the "victim chain." You are probably right that pedophiles will be next. Governing elite need "victim" for whom to advocate, but each victim wears out after a while. Because of the attention, the victim becomes a privileged class rather than a victim. So they have to move down the line to the next victim. Each victim class is smaller that the one before it, but size does not matter. When they get down to "red headed left handed one armed stutterers," of which there are eight in the US, they will advocate just as earnestly as they did for the first victim class.

Right Bill. In the end the most bizarre victim class will emerge. It's necessary for their political fortunes.
