I would say he will be missed, but then I'd be lying. Kennedy was an unsteady, unstable and duplicitous jurist, and he clearly enjoyed being the power broker on the court. I've heard people calling him "conservative" yet what did he do but legislate from the bench on key issues? He pretty clearly invented a right to gay marriage out of whole cloth, because that was what he himself wanted. There was zero legal precedent for it.

Just think of what a bullet we just dodged; had Hillary won it would be Bill Clinton, or John Podesta, or perhaps even Loretta Lynch going to SCOTUS now. And if it was one of the RINO wing of the GOP - say, Jeb! or John Kasich - we would now have a candidate going up who would be agreeable to the Democrats in the Senate meaning they would be David Souter types.

I do hope Trump doesn't nominate Ted Cruz. Cruz would be a good Justice but he would have every bit as much trouble going through the confirmation process, and in the end we would lose a solid conservative from a nip-and-tuck Senate, something we cannot afford. If the President wants to keep Cruz in reserve so be it, but I would shoot for someone else. In fact, were I Trump I would find the most conservative of all candidates and put that guy up, knowing the Dems will go bonkers. It is always helpful to force liberal heads to explode, especially before an election. And if they shoot the guy down you can put the one you want up and dare them to shoot him or her down too. If they do it will rebound poorly for the Dems.
