A Line is a Terrible thing to Waist

Timothy Birdnow

I know for a fact that the Universe is expanding, and that it is much more rapid than thought. I keep having to buy larger belts for my pants. And, yes, it is causing a crisis...

1 FTA: "A difference in the Hubble constant between early and late-time Universe means that there is something missing in our current standard model," astrophysicist Sherry Suyu said in a press release about the recent study.

Gee, guys, might it be possible that your "current standard model" has been flawed from the beginning? Have you ever considered that? Remember, the standard technique of science is forming a hypothesis, then testing it against all available data until it either proves to be consistent or doesn't. I think you've merely proven here that your hypothesis (your "model") doesn't hold up against all the available data, and that you need a new model. Of course, I just might be guilty of over-simplification; my hypothesis might be too simple, in other words.

2 Agreed Dana; the modern world is becoming quite Medieval, with instead of asking how many angels can dance on the head of a pin we ask where all the dark matter has gone. But in the end so many of the big questions - the ones that border on matters of faith - have become hopelessly entangled and confused.

Those whom the gods would destroy they first drive mad. I don't know about gods (only one God as far as I'm concerned) but there certainly is enough madness to go around these days.

3 If one will fully accept the God that is, then sit back and relax at having done that, it's wonderful how many things will fall into place. His plans are the only ones that matter. If yours are in alignment with His, yours will work also.

4 I agree. I've learned from bitter experience the truth of that last.
