This 7-Year-Old Girl Is Pitching at the World Series With a 3D Printed Hand
Hailey Dawson’s doctors told her a prosthetic hand didn’t make sense given she was a growing girl. But a 3D printed hand is making the impossible possible.
Dana Mathewson says:
All I can say is, "You go, girl!"
Remember a few years ago when John Kerry tried to throw out the first pitch in some MLB game or other, and bounced it in? Betcha this little tyke does better! Especially since she comes from a baseball-crazy family ("Not that there's anything wrong with that," as they'd have said on Seinfeld).
3D printing is especially good for situations like this, where a kid WOULD outgrow a prosthesis quickly, but a printed one costs so comparatively little, it's feasible to create one for a kid. That should be a slap in the face for people who denigrate the technology.
