In the latest Rasmussen polling report, they mention that based on their interviews they do not trust the government's employment statistics so they decided to keep track of them directly from talking to people beginning some time ago. In this cumulative report from talking to over 9000 people, they show what they consider a more accurate stat of 8.3% unemployment rate among all adults and 15% in the critical 18-39 voting age group. Tim adds:
They base it entirely on the industry surveys and ignore the household surveys. The industry surveys say there are X amount of jobs and Y of them are filled, showing good employment numbers. What that survey fails to take into account is that many if not most of these jobs are part time and are taken by the same people, who have to work three jobs to make a living. Many more are taken by illegal aliens.
The household jobs paints a very different picture. Many folks aren't working, or are underemployed. So the Administration simply pretends it's not happening.
