Deuteronomy 28:43-44 New International Version (NIV)
The
foreigners who reside among you will rise above you higher and higher,
but you will sink lower and lower. They will lend to you, but you will
not lend to them. They will be the head, but you will be the tail.

God promises us lots of curses if we do not follow His commandments. These days we have cast Him aside, and are reaping the rewards of having done so. And all within my lifetime, sadly.

I only posted a small snippet of the total prophecy here Dana. The whole thing is dramatic and scary and sounds very much like what is happening to America.
We have indeed cast God aside, and He is fulfilling what he warned against.
If we don't turn away from this wickedness soon we will meet the same fate as the Israelites and the land will "vomit us out".

I've been all the way through Deuteronomy, and the curses are scary indeed. One wonders just how the Israelites could have broken God's commandments in light of the curses having been presented to them so recently, but they did -- time and again.

I guess it was just like America or Europe today; they thought themselves cosmopolitan and educated and that this was the foolishness and superstition of their forefathers. And no doubt they didn't believe these curses were anything but polymic. Just like many Christianis think today.
