Senate Screwing up OBcubed

Timothy Birdnow

Daniel Horowitz looks at the mess the Senate is making of the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBcubed). In particular, they have sunset provisions in place until just before the next general election, setting up a budge battle that could cost them the elections.

And they are cutting out many of the tax cuts for the citizens Trump promised in order to give businesses cuts.

They truly are the stupid party.

Lying Liars

Timothy Birdnow

Trump said he called Gavin Newsom about the riots in L.A. and Newsom claimed he did not.

Guess what? Call logs prove that Newsom is lying.

Did anyone ever doubt that? I never did.

Of course, outside of Fox the media will either ignore this or bury it.

Oh, the yahoos and Yahoo tried to twist it to say Trump lied because the date was off by two days.So actually Trump had called him earlier, as this thing was really heating up. Newsom refused help. So why didn't Newsom call back and accept?

Is Trump supposed to hold his hand through the whole crisis? That isn't leadership.

Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi was equally triggered:

"It’s overwhelming because [the insurrectionists] want to put a bullet in my F**king head and they were going to hang the vice president of the United States — and this guy is not sending in the National Guard, and then lying about it to the public,”

fin

Yet nobody was hurt by violence except one protester, and that is a fact. She clearly is overstating the gravity of that day.

And who was at fault for that? Then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and then-DC Mayor Muriel Bowser were in charge of security. And it was THEY who made no requests for beefed up security, despite being warned. And it was they who refused National Guard troops when Mr. Trump offered them.

Pelosi is the mother of all liars and apparently she doesn't fear the coming of her judgment day. Hope her political power gives her some solace when she burns in Hell.

Insurrection is in the Eye of the Beholder

Timothy Birdnow

Well, well, well...Trump's use of the word "insurrection" sure is a sore spot for the looney left at CNN:

CNN Melts Down after Trump Calls L.A. Rioters Insurrectionists

Panelist Stephen Collinson bemoaned:

"This is a very serious word that is being thrown around now, ‘insurrection’. That’s a rebellion of States or people in the states against federal government.

"That is not something to be trifled with. If for example, to your point, the President were to invoke the Insurrection Act, I think we would have yet another legal morass.”

So where was he when Democrats were calling J6 - a very minor riot smaller and less violent than most that had happened over the prior four years, an insurrectiion? Did he think then this was "Not something to be trifled with?"

"It will be another instance of the way that the White House is trying to declare emergencies or insurrections in order to unlock vast powers which most presidents don’t have access to.” Did he really believe the J6 people were trying to overthow the govenrment of the U.S.?

Strange how it was an insurrection when it was people with whom he disagreed but is just a "protest" when it's something he wants.

Who, pray tell, declared something an insurrection to try to remove the legally elected government of the United States? I seem to remember that as a goal of Nancy Pelosi (who acted on that day very much like Newsom is acting now, refusing to call for help so she could have an incident to use as a political bludgeon).

Seems insurrection is in the eye of the beholder, at least where the media is concerned.

Newsom for Alcatraz

Timothy Birdnow

Mike "not so tiny after all" Johnson says California Governor Gavin Insurrection Newsom should be tarred and feathered for attempting to block the President's efforts to stamp out violence by illegal aliens, Hamas lovers, and other asundry leftist rioters.

Johnson told reporters, when asked if Newsom should be arrested:

"Look, that's not my lane. I'm not going to give you legal analysis on whether Gavin Newsom should be arrested, but he ought to be tarred and feathered,"

If Trump invokes the Insurrection Act Newsom could indeed be arrested for crimes, I suspect. He's aiding and abetting.

In 1865 confederate President Jefferson Davis was arrested and imprisoned at Fort Monroe and held there two years. Davis was elected President of the Confederacy against his will, and never wanted the post. Why was he imprisoned? For doing pretty much what Newsom is doing now, defending the people in rebellion (actually this is quite different as that was in an era where the balance of power was tipped in favor of the states and everyone thought secession was o.k. while Newsom, a champion of Federal power, is simply defying the Federal government over acore duty at a time when the Supremacy Clause is considered the apex of legal power.)

I not only think Newsom can be charged with some crime but probably should, although I don't think it would be politically expedient to do so now. There are other ways to punish him. He could, for instance,be sued by multiple Californians into bankruptcy for this. (Get in on the ground floor Bill and Mike!) There could be a recall althogh that's been tried before and also his term will soon expire. But he should be drained of funds, guaranteeing he cannot fund a campaign for higher office. There could be a tax revolt in California as Californians deduct what he cost them from their taxes. There are ways.

I'd like to see him tarred and feathered and maybe jailed on the shores of the lovely Salton Sea, there to enjoy the wonderful aroma of that resort region's summer air! (For those who don't know the Salton Sea STINKS like dead fish in summer.)

Or when Trump reopens Alcatraz he could be prisoner zero! Fitting.

But lawsuits are probably the best we can do for this jackass now. But there will come a time he'll have to answer for what he has done, in this life or worse in the next.

Karen Curfew

Timothy Birdnow

That fishy Karen Bass has finally issued a curfew in downtown L.A. to curb violence by illegal aliens and Hamas and SEIU thugs.

isn't this rather closing the barn door after the cow has gotten out?

She only did this because she can't let Trump get the credit for stopping the violence; she will claim it was her timely action that made all the difference, not the four thousand National Guardsmen nor the Marines sent to quell the insurrection.Oh no; couldn't be THAT!

These people are utterly pathetic.

Now,she lectured everyone about keeping the situation calm and said it was under control, yet here she is restricing the entire population of a city to quell rioting by people who shouldn't be there in the first place. Typically liberal; hurt the good folks so you can coddle the bad.

Frankly, the best thing she could do for her city would be to put a curfew on local government and allow the Feds to stop this.

Of  course they are part of the rioiting in some cases, or at least their family members.

Hawley Wants to Raise theMinimum Wage

Timothy Birdnow

I usually love Josh Hawley but this is simply stupid.

Josh Hawley introduces bill to raise federal minimum wage to $15.

If there is a minumum wage at all (and there shouldn't be; it's none of government's business and appears nowhere in the enumerated powers) it should be at the state level, not the federal.

Minimum wage hikes cost jobs, especially for the young or the poor. Hawley should know that.

Not sure what he's thinking but he needs to get his head realigned.

The market is the best way to determine wages, not some one-size-fits-all law. Give a guy ten bucks an hour no matter how poorly he performs and you simply drag everything down. You also encourage employers to seek new ways to do things to eliminate the dead weight. That's why fast food places now require customers to use kiosks to self-order. Before they are through we'll have to cook the food ourselves and package it and say "thank you, come again" to grab a burger.

That was because of minimum wage hikes. Time was a young kid took your order, but McDonalds isn't hiring someone who needs to be trained and who may not show up. Easier to just dump his job on the customers.

This is how service goes down all around. Employees who now loaf off wouldn't have had they been in an adjustable pay scale and could make more if they performed better. This is exactly why the Soviet economy went belly-up; nobody working, everybody finding ways to slack off because they were guaranteed a job and guaranteed the same pay no matter how they performed.

As Archie Bunker once stated (quite brilliantly, though they tried to make him sound ridiculous) "what's the point of a man working hard all his life if he's going to end up equal". Archie was right.

So now even our political champions are going down this road.

I've always worried a bit about Hawley, ever since he let Prosecutor Kim Gardner wager her campaign against Missouri Governor Eric Greitens. Gardner broke multiple laws and Hawley was the Attorney General then; he could have shut her down. He didn't do it because of political considerations and nothing more. Greitens had been a Democrat and the Missouri GOP hated him for taking the party away, just as the national GOP hated Trump for the same thing.

So I've always kept one eye on Mr. Hawley. He pleasantly surprised me, but this appears to be a case of neotany, of backward evolution. He really should know better.

I suppose Hawley thinks that if we raise the minimum wage we will collect more in tax income. But that will only slow down economic growth. The businesses employing the minimum wagers won't have money to gorw. In the end this will probably COST  revenue.

What fools we mortal be!

The Stupid Party

Timothy Birdnow

It's hard to appreciate how stupid the Republicans truly are.

REPUBLICAN SENATORS PLAN TO SCALE BACK TRUMP TAX CUTS.

The GOP, the party of tax cuts, wants to eliminate Trump's proposed elimination of taxes on tips, on overtime, and on the elderly.

If we learned nothing else from Ronald Reagan - or Bill Clinton, or Geoerge W. Bush, or Donald Trump - we should at least have learned that tax cuts spur economic growth and lead to a greater return to the treasury than high tax RATES. If high tax rates worked than a 100% tax would lead to an unparalleled boom. It doesn't; it leads to economic stagnation.

If these Republicans are so worried about the deficit why aren't they talking about a bigger recission bill?

That would cut the deficit, not squeezing social security recipients and below minimum wage workers.

This will bite the GOP in the posterior. If they ruin this they will lose those seniors and bartenders and waitresses many in the coalition that put Trump in power. This could cost them Congress, or a big chunk of it anyway.

By it's very definition taxes are immoral. They are a form of theft, stealing money from one individual and giving it to another. Of course politicians all love to tax and then "return" it; it grants them power. Anybody who doesn't play ball will be taxed and will wither.

Lyndon Johnson understood this. He actually did a tax cut to get churches of of politics; you either stayed out or were taxed into oblivion. It was a scheme that worked beautifully; most churches stopped any and all political activity lest they lose the tax exemption. It were these churches who had stopped his Great Society socialism scheme until he made them an offer they couldn't refuse.

So the best policy is to limit taxes. I would add if you refuse to pay taxes you will be punished with fines, and if you refuse to pay fines you will be arrested, and if you refuse to be arrested well....

The state holds the power of the sword. And will use it if you tell them to just leave you alone.

So any tax cut is a good tax cut by and large. Taxes are theft by another name. That's why mafiosa call their shakedowns "taxes".

Republicans used to understand that.

I wonder if these Republicans aren't trying to kill this for this very reason. They have always hated Trump and MAGA, at least the country club/RINO wing. If Trump succeeds then they are going to play second fiddle to the benighted yahoos whom they disdain. They have always thought us rubes and hillbillies in need of their superior guidance.

So wrecking the Trump agenda would serve THEIR interests, but not ours, and not the President's.

If not they are the stupidest people alive. I don't believe that.

Now Mike Johnson got HIS caucus in line, much to his credit (we all know how little I respect Johnson). But here we have Senators like Rand Paul who are ready to blow everything up for a tax INCREASE! It's truly astonishing.

In yet more proof the GOP is mentally incompetent and should be sharing a psyc ward with Joe Biden, Republican Mark Amodie plans to block any cuts to PBS/NPR. After decades of lying and bashing the GOP we have this idiot standing in the way of finally ending their tax funding. Pathetic.

The New Comancheria

Timothy Birdnow

The Destroy Connecticut Towns Act.

Liberals are waging war on normalcy, decency, and peaceful living in their hatred of orthodoxy and Christian values.

Democrats across the country are implementing laws Biden tried to put in place that forces communities to "desegregate" their neighborhoods with low income housing and special services for such people, including transportation and food and medical services, all in the name of "diversity".

Now here we won at the national level yet the Left just proceeds as if they are still in power. Sadly they are in many states.

As I've pointed out before, this is a political weapon. It is a way to gerrymander republican districts; if you can't do it with ridiculous congressional boundaries you can simply colonize areas you want to take over. When enough Republicans move away you control the district. The idea is to either move Republicans into districts they own completely or to scatter then into pockets in Democrat districts.

And at the same time it's about social engineering. I remember long ago, when the schools were first integrated and white people were moving into the suburbs to get away from the crime that came with this, the Left said "don't think we'll allow you to run away to your suburban communities" and subsequently came after the suburbs. Busing followed. So did the construction of low income housing in affluent or middle class neighborhoods.

When I was growing up there was a community called Glasgow Village that was clean and nice, a middle class neighborhood. This sat on top of the bluffs of the Mississippi river. The bluff edge itself features some very nice homes (they had spectacular views) and a wonderful amusement park (featuring a rollercoaster that did a hairpin turn hanging off the bluff, making your heart nearly stop as you dangled over a lethal drop).

Anyway, they built some apartments along the bluff edge and those quicly became the residency of a collection of poor people on government assistance. Then someone burned the amusement park down. The government cleared it away and - built low income housing. This has been a nice, clean suburban bedroom community but crime started seeping in. It got worse and worse. Now this is one of the very worst neighborhoods in the whole St. Louis metropolitan area, and there are shootings there almost daily. Many of the little frame homes are boarded up or burned out. The police pretty much stay out of it. Leftist intergrationism utterly destroyed a beautiful area, one of the best spots in the whole city. Those bluff-edge lots could have been sold to build high end housing for big bucks.

I don't know what's happened to the high end homes that used to be there. They were some dandies! Private drives and beautiful structures. But who wants to live in a nice home inside the Comancheria?

That's what they are trying to do to all of America. It's a hatred of our culture, or our peaceful and pleasant way of life. These people are monsters who hate every one of us.

Indiana Teachers Forced toResign Over 8647

Timothy Birdnow

This is a heartwarming story. A radical hippie chick school teacher was forced to resign after wearing a tee shirt that said "8647" to a school field trip to the nation's capitol. The teacher, Tonja Luken, was employed until she quit by Indiana's Middlebury Community Schools. She made the foolish mistake of posting herself in the shirt on social media (which she has since deleted.)

BTW Tonja is a Russian name. I wonder if she wasn't a child of Soviet agents? She was an English teacher who studied at Western Michigan and was originally from Mishawaka.

At any rate the radical Tonja tried to argue that the field trip wasn't a school activity, even though it clearly was sponsored by the school. School officials stated that the code is quite clear; any time a teacher is representing the school they must be politically neutral.

Luken clearly knew the jig was up. She resigned.

This is right and proper. A qualification for working as a teacher in many schools is a voluntary surrender of one's free speech rights while on the employer's dime. Everyone knows the ropes - or should anyway. And '86 is colloquial slang for kill or destroy.

But even if it's not it was clearly openly political in violation of the contract she signed. Oh, and was wearing it to the Capitol, which is just trying to stir up trouble.

The Left has to be taught that they no longer can do as they please. Rules that apply to us apply to them as well.

I would have favored firing a teacher wearing a MAGA hat too.

At any rate the times they are a-changin'. Get used to being one of the crowd liberals!

Illegal Alien in Minnesota Congress

Timothy Birdnow

"It's no fun, being an illegal alien!"

Genesis, 1983

A Minnesota state representative admits to being an illegal alien in violation of both state and federal law.

She needs to be put on ICE.

THIS is where the Democrats have gone; proudly proclaiming their are openly flipping the bird to the law.

She's trying to walk this back now that she realizes it could actually get her deported, but the genie is out of the bottle. I suppose she figured it would help her "street creds" and nobody would go after her. She thought wrong.

Of course if the authorities do go after her she'll become the poster child for the pro-illegals, and will be "proof" the Trump Administration is simply punishing it's political enemies. The law doesn't much matter to them.

Butif that's the way they want to play it so be it. Time to stop pussy footing around, time to make the law applicable to everyone, not just to the working and middle classes.

From the Halls of Montezuma

Timothy Birdnow

From the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of East L.A.!

Trump Deploys 500-700 Marines to Help Squash Anti-ICE Los Angeles Riots

I am mindful of the invasion of Grenada by the Marines during the Reagan years. The media painted it as American imperialism but when the students at the med school there got home they literally kissed the ground. The Marines saved their lives.

Granted these Marines will mostly be in support roles, but if they have to go into the fray this is exactly the kind of fighting Marines are trained to do. If nothing else it puts the Left in the unenviable position of hating on American troops (which is why they were so adamant that nothing be sent, and failing that just some poorly trained National Guardsman.)

No doubt Judge Bozoberg, er, Boasberg, is preparing an injunction as we speak, but should still come out ahead politically for this action. I have little doubt some Democrat judge will issue an injunction against this as a violation of Posse Comitatus.

That's why these Marines will see no action. They are there purely as a show of force.

And this will force the Democrats to attack the U.S. Marine Corps (that's pronounced CORE Mr. Obama.) Americans aren't going to like that.

Haters Gotta Hate, Hate, Hate

Timothy Birdnow

In any dying military campaign there comes a moment when those who are losing throw everything they have into the fight in a desperate attempt to get the boot off their throats. In WWII we saw the Germans attack at the Bulge, for instance. In Vietnam there was the(unfortunately successful) Tet Offensive. (Declassified Vietnamese documents show the Communists were desperate and defeated and they were AMAZED when American news sources started saying the war was lost.) We had Lee's campaign at Gettysburg. I could go on.

That's why I wonder if these riots (and the people fomentting them plan to take them nationwide, promising to riot all over the country during the planned military parade celebrating America's 250th birthday) aren't throwing everything into this now. The Ruling Class knows they need a game changer. This is high risk; normal Americans hate this kind of lawlessness and anarchy, but they need to do it to create a mood of chaos and then hope to say "see!" and turn people against Trump, just as they did before with riots.

Also, they are looking for an incident. They need a shooting by the authorities, a kind of Boston Massacre to ignite their side and cow ours.

What I want to know is, who is funding this? Organizing this? This is in no way organic.Look at the "protesters"; they are clearly a rent-a-mob, with professional agitators in the mix. We see LGBTQ radicals along with Pro-Hamas people and public service unions. Illegal aliens of course. Criminal drug and human trafficking thugs too. The usual coalition that shows up to every riot.

Now Trump was wise not letting this get out of control, and we need arrests and very public trials. But he also needs to systematically go after the organizers and funders to the fullest extent of the law. I for one would like to see the whole Soros family indicted.

Chris Cillizza on News Nation warned Democrats "they will not win" and that it was "collosolly stupid" for them to stand with illegal alien rioters. But I think Cillizza is wrong, or at least he misses the point. The rioting protesters are not supposed to win; they are cannon fodder. They are supposed to raise hell, depress and sour the rising optimism of this Golden Age (as Trump calls it) and to make Americans yearn for the simpler times when the Ruling Class had absolulte power and governed us as fathers govern their children. The Democrats can profit from this by standing firm, they believe. Remember,in politics it's not about the will of the People but of the fear or confidence of the corporate and governmental classes. THEY are the real rulers of America.

Cillizza is just looking at this through the prism of politics. This transcends politics.

BTW I would argue the strategies being employed against Trump are tried and true. I would suggest that the turmoil and chaos of the '60's never seeped into most Americans either, but it made most people give in just to return to "normalcy". This is how all revolutions work; wreck everything and then offer a way out - a way out which is in handing the people who wtecked it all power.

As Glenn Beck observed yesterday, this is in fact a color revolution. While he didn't point his finger directly at the CIA or other such agencies I think it's pretty clear; the CIA was the genesis of almost all color revolutions. They are using the exact same tactics on our government now.

I wonder how many covert agents are in that crowd?

At any rate all leftist revolutions use these same tactics and they generally work. Often the only way to stop it is by cracking down; it's where military dictatorships are born.

The Democratic Party are now nothing but traitors and revolutionaries and haters of America.

Iranian Espionage and Israeli Nukes

Timothy Birdnow

Iran claims it has stolen documents on Israel's nuclear weapons program and plans to share it.

FTA:

(Zero Hedge)—Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib is claiming Tehran has acquired a "treasure trove” of sensitive Israeli documents, including information on Israel’s secret (but long not-so-secret) nuclear weapons program, as well as apparent evidence of US and European knowledge and support.

"The transfer of this treasure trove was time-consuming and required security measures. Naturally, the transfer methods will remain confidential, but the documents should be unveiled soon,” Khatib said. He vowed to make them public, at which point this could force either an Israeli or US official statement.

Iranian state TV unveiled the alleged clandestine operation on Saturday, though no evidence was provided. Additionally, Israel has yet to acknowledge anything regarding theft of its files, which may have occurred through a cyber-breach.

fin

I wouldn't think they would lie about this as they are now forced to put up or shut up. Israel's silence, on the other hand, makes perfect sense.

Of course we've all long suspected Israel had nukes. That is no surprise.

The point is Israel has never used nukes, not even under the worst provocation. Iran no doubt wants to claim Israeli nukes justifies their own program, but we all know Iran is and remains an aggressor, funding the worst sorts of terrorism in the region. They would use them if they saw a tactical advantage to doing so.

And now Israel will have to respond in kind with some sort of cyber attack.

The temperature keeps rising and sooner or later....

The Associated Press reporting on Khatib’s words strongly points to cyber espionage, given the US-sanctioned intelligence chief’s background:

UFL Semifinals

Timothy Birdnow

Sunday the St.Louis Battlehawks football team were utterly humiliated by the District of Columbia Defenders in the UFL finals. The Battlehawks, which ledthe league in most things, mow has to face the humiliation of having the Defenders play for the chapionship in their own house.

The championship is played in the stadium which has the most fans, and it's been in St. Louis since the league was formed.Game attendance is higher here than anywhere else.

I really don't know what happened to the BH; they just collapsed early on and could get nothing right. Their defense was impotent and their offense was just plain lame.

It probably would have been a shutout had it not been for an unforced turnover in the first half. Yes,they scored a few niggling points after that but even those probably wouldn't have happened without that first score.

The final tally was 36 to 18, but that was not indicative of the game, which was a wipeout that made Jimmy Carter's defeat by Ronald Reagan look neck-in-neck.

Quarterback Max Duggan was replaced by Brandon Silvers in a desperate attempt to ignite the offense. Silvers is known as a passing QB. Buthe was injured and Duggan, who clearly didn't have it Sunday night, went back in to face the slaughter.

The Defenders won the XFL League and now go for the UFL championship against the (Detroit) Michigan Panthers, so there really is nobody to cheer for as both represent places we as Conservatives do not like.

Pity.

Drought Caused by Warming?

This from Tony Heller at Realclimate:

The New York Times says drought in the Great Plains is caused by the burning of fossil fuels.

"It’s Not Just Poor Rains Causing Drought. The Atmosphere Is ‘Thirstier.’
Higher temperatures caused by climate change are driving complex processes that make droughts bigger and more severe, new research shows.”

It’s Not Just Poor Rains Causing Drought. The Atmosphere Is ‘Thirstier.’ – The New York Times

There isn’t any indication that droughts have become more severe or more common in the Great Plains.

https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/pub/data/cirs/climdiv/climdiv-pdsidv-v1.0.0-20240606

https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/monitoring-content/sotc/drought/psi/psi-193408.gif

Tim adds:

At the core of climate change theory is the proposition that a warming atmosphere caused by increasesin co2 will lead to greater evaporation of groundwater/seawater which in turn adds a strong greenhouse effect. All climate models called for a "warmer, wetter world" yet here we are being told it's cooler and dryer because of "climate change". That is, of course, why they dropped the term Global Warming in the firstplace; it did not comport with observation.
