Raising Stock Market Means Little

Timothy Birdnow

All they care about is having something solid to point to to claim Bidenomics worked. That it is smoke-and-mirrors is imamterial to them.

BTW inflation hurts bonds and savings so stocks naturally rise during an inflationary period. Duh.

John F. DiLeo

The left is excited and happy. The Dow just went over 40,000, so they think that means we're not in a recession.

Don't tell them that the Dow is denominated in US Dollars, which means inflation applies to it too. A climb in the Dow is only good to the extent that the climb is superior to the rate of inflation.

So for example if the Dow goes up by 10% but the real inflation rate is 2%, then that means the business sector is probably doing well.

But if the Dow goes up by 10% and the real inflation rate is over 10%, then that means the business sector is just treading water, like everybody else.;

Nothing happens in a vacuum. You have to look at economic numbers in context.

Let's say an individual stock (that has not split or otherwise changed what it represents) was trading at $100 three years ago, but it's trading at $120 today. That sounds like it's worth 20% more after three years. But since inflation was running over ten percent per year all three of those years, the stock has not kept up with inflation, so the stock is actually worth less.

The $100 stock price in 2021 represented a hundred 2021 dollars, while the $120 stock price today represents a hundred and twenty 2024 dollars. And 2024 dollars are worth much less than 2021 dollars were.

All economics must be viewed in context.

Tim adds:

If anything this is proof we have a top-down economy where the wealthiest are profiting handsomely and the working class suffers. A good stock market disproportionately benefits the rich and Biden  knows it. High inflation disproportionately hurts the working class and Biden knows that too.

Waht this is is a huge transfer of wealth from the middle class to the already obscenely wealthy elites.

The Radical Moderates

Timothy Birdnow

This brings up some interesting points. He's right; give them what they want and you'll have them demanding more. Anyone who has ever fed birds knows that if you give some stale bread to one or two you will soon have a whole flock.

I HATE the term moderate for the people who straddle the political fence. They are nothing of the sort. They are complicit and knowingly so in my view, with the revolutionaries. But they are so terrified of being disliked by those who control the narrative, meaning the media and the ruling class in Washington, that they will fawn in obsequious fashion over the radicals ostensibly in the interests of "comity" and of "balance". But in the end they simply help advance a very radical agenda.

And many just like thumbing those with principles in the eye. Then they can tell themselves they too have principles when in fact they are craven cowards.

We need a new word. RINO isn't really accurate either.

Morgan K. Freeberg

There are moderates out there who concede the point that the Woke Left is a raging pain in the ass, and agree we don't want more of that, but at the same time -- if the nose-ring purple-hair crowd are complaining that something is "problematic," why not just get rid of it for the sake of harmony. Just give 'em what they want. "So we don't have to listen to it."

In all walks of life: Give the faction we don't want more of, whatever they want, so they'll stop complaining and we don't have to listen to it -- is a plan with a 100% failure rate. They don't go away. You feed the monster you always get more monsters.

There is this myth that we have a finite supply of "problematic" things, that if we keep removing these rough edges we'll eventually sand down the furniture to a lovely smoothness and we can all start getting along with each other. Moderates need to become acquainted with the word "problematize." It gets a red squiggly underline when you type it because it's not in the dictionary. But it's a real word, and an important concept. The Left of today is dedicated to problematizing things. It therefore follows that the supply of problematic things is being constantly replenished, and is in fact inexhaustible. It's not only inexhaustible, it is strategic. It is how The Left does things. It's their power play.

So no. You don't give them what they want. They don't really "want" anything, except to erase everything. What they really want is complete power with no accountability for making the wrong call.

Inflation

Diane Kimura

CPI Inflation

While CPI inflation is at 3.4%, inflation is much higher in many basic necessities:

1. Car and homeowners Insurance Inflation: 22.6%
2. Transportation Inflation: 11.2%
3. Hospital Services Inflation: 7.7%
4. Car Repair Inflation: 7.6%
5. Homeowner Inflation: 5.8%
6. Rent Inflation: 5.4%
7. Electricity Inflation: 5.1%
8. Food Away From Home Inflation: 4.1%

Keep in mind, inflation has been above 3% for over THREE years now.

This means that these inflation numbers are building on multiple years of already inflated prices.

Affordability is still getting worse.

April: After Some Zigs, a Zag. But 6-Month Core CPI Hits 4.0%, 6-Month Core Services CPI Hits 6.0%, Both Highest since mid-2023.

The housing components of services CPI: Rent of Primary Residence CPI rose by 4.3% annualized in April from March (blue).

The three-month reading rose by 5.0%, the fourth month in a row of 5% increases, after having cooled sharply from the 2022 to early-2023 pace in the 9% range. The three-month pace in April (5.0%) was slightly hotter than in December (4.9%).

The Rent CPI accounts for 7.6% of overall CPI. It is based on rents that tenants actually paid, not on asking rents of advertised units for rent. The survey follows the same large group of rental houses and apartments over time and tracks the rents that the current tenants actually paid in these units.

Stealing America's Elections

Diane M. Kimura

STUDY: 10% to 27% of Non-Citizens Are ILLEGALLY Registered to Vote in the United States

A new study shows that between 10% and 27% of non-citizens are ILLEGALLY registered to vote.

This means that due to there being around 30 million non-citizens in the U.S. — more than enough to sway elections decided by thousands of votes — American elections are being illegally and illegitimately decided.

In 2014, the academic journal Electoral Studies published a groundbreaking study by three scholars who estimated how frequently non-citizens were illegally voting. Based on data for the 2008 presidential and congressional elections, the study found that:

• "roughly one quarter of non-citizens” in the U.S. "were likely registered to vote.”
• "6.4% of non-citizens actually voted.”
• 81.8% of them "reported voting for Barack Obama.”
• illegal votes cast by non-citizens "likely” changed "important election outcomes” in favor of Democrats, "including Electoral College votes” and a "pivotal” U.S. Senate race that enabled Democrats to pass Obamacare.

The academic study, accepted for peer-review publication at the journal Electoral Studies, estimated non-citizen voter registration data from two key sources:

• A national survey in which 14.8% of non-citizens admitted that they were registered to vote.
• A database of registered voters that reveals what portion of the surveyed non-citizens "were in fact registered” even though "they claimed not to be registered.”

Just Facts used an "enhanced version" of the 2014 Electoral Studies methodology to find that roughly 10% to 27% of non-citizen adults in the U.S. are now registered to vote, as of 2022.

In order to stop illegal voting by non-citizens, House Republicans recently introduced a bill to "require proof of United States citizenship” to register to vote in federal elections.

Every single Democrat opposed.

Tim adds:

And while there are far more registered to vote than actually voted according to the numbers I strongly suspect those registrations did not go to waste. It's how Joe Biden won so many votes last time. The Democrats will keep them ready and use them as the need arises.

When Worlds Collide

Richard Cronin

In Greek mythology, Theia was the wife of Titan and their daughter was Selene. In Roman mythology, Titan is Atlas and Selene is Luna.

It has long been thought that the moon was formed by the "Big Impact” or "Big Splash”, wherein a nearly Mars-sized planetoid named Theia collided with the Earth, broke up, and a major remnant became our moon. Moreover, the collision took place very shortly after the beginning of our Solar System, 4.56 billion years ago. The Earth had not formed a rigid crust. It was a semi-molten mass. Two fragments penetrated deep inside the early Earth. The impact also imparted Earth’s tilt and Precession which gives us our seasons.

Quoting from article "They were already aware that there are two massive, distinct blobs that are embedded deep within the Earth. The masses — called large low-velocity provinces, or LLVPs — were first detected in the 1980s. One lies beneath Africa and another below the Pacific Ocean.”

It is pretty certain that one impact initiated the Pacific Ocean. I’d hypothesize that the blob beneath Africa struck in such a way as to form the Indian Ocean and push up the regions of South Africa.

The trenches forming the Pacific Ocean’s Ring of Fire plus trenches in the eastern Indian Ocean (i.e. Sunda or Java, as well as the Diamantina trench) were formed by the combination of the Sun’s gravity with the Earth’s rotation. The trenches are rips in the Earth.

The Great East African Rift is one of the notable geological features with Africa but there are no trenches associated with the coasts of Africa.

The moon has been essential in providing the tidal basins where early life flourished. The coupling of the Earth and moon also gives us our eccentric orbit which imparts Tidal Pumping, driving the El Niño Southern Oscillation.

Finally, the addition of mass from the Big Impact made the Earth larger than Venus and Mars, affecting our shared Tidal Pumping effects.

Yeah, and it all happened by chance (** eyes roll **), then Atlas Shrugged.

Collision that formed the moon also created alien blobs inside Earth, study says | CNN

Smith and Kafka

Michael Smith

Alvin Bragg's prosecution of President Trump is an example of what we have to look forward to in a postmodernist progressive society. This is so much like the trial Franz Kafka wrote about it is almost as if they took it straight from Kafka's pen.

The progressive postmodernist left following that script (it is an interesting to note that Kafka's "The Trial" is titled "Der Process" - the process - in the original German).

In Kafka's story, Josef K., the defendant, never knew what specific crime he committed - funny that we still don't know what Trump is really charged with or what the prosecution is trying to prove because I have heard at least a dozen different theories out of the mouths of the prosecution and their witnesses.

Josef K., was a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, and he struggled to defend himself despite an impenetrable bureaucracy and corrupt, incompetent officials.

In the end, Josef K. was killed and the nature of his crime was never revealed to him.

As many, including myself, have said, any fair and impartial judge would have already thrown Bragg's case out - for that matter, any reasonable, fair system of justice would never have allowed it to start.

In point of fact, there is a real chance both of Jack Smith's cases get harpooned. Based on my reading of the law, and I am no lawyer but I can read and comprehend words, Smith was appointed illegally - Merrick Garland does not have the power to appoint a private citizen an "officer" of the government.

For Smith to be legal, he would need Congressional approval. It is going to be interesting because if the ruling of Judge Cannon's court is that he is not duly appointed, then Judge Chutkan will have to hold another hearing and if she says he is, this will go directly to the Supreme Court - and SCOTUS has already ruled on a very similar situation (in 2018) and decided it can't be done the way Garland did it.

This is all wrong. Every bit of it. They wanted to get Trump before the election so bad, they started skipping steps and I think people are beginning to notice. There was a poll released yesterday that noted if Trump was convicted in the "hush money' trial, his approval numbers would skyrocket.

At least they kept Trump off the campaign trail for a month - but even that seems to have backfired.

They are trying to keep it going - CNN is back to doing dramatic readings of the trial transcripts and breathlessly trying to rehabilitate and prop up Michael Cohen, a man who admits to lying to the DOJ, to Congress, and to various judges.

We'll have to see, but this is certainly shaping up to be one of the biggest "Never mind" moments in the history of the American media.

All the evidence and hearings, and no one is facing indictments.

We now know why the Trump campaign was denied to forensically examine the Dominion voting machines in the Nov 3, 2020 election,

"Two Clark County technical employees came forward completely independent of each other and explained that they discovered that the number of votes recorded by Dominion voting machines stored on USB drives would change between the time the polls were closed at night and when they were reopened the next morning.”

"We have video tape of Jackie Amos inserting thumb drives into machines”

"I personally observed USB cards uploaded to machines 24 times, as of today 47 USB cards are missing and no where to be found”

Conspiracy Theory?

Timothy Birdnow

This is interesting. It's from Dr. Robert Malone and is about HAARP, the ongoing weather control experiments and, well, see for yourself:

Robert W Malone

When do conspiracy theories become reality?
The following text is from the subscription AI program (Perplexity) that I use for general searches.
"On May 10th, 2024, HAARP conducted experiments to artificially create aurora-like glows or "airglow" in the ionosphere by exciting electrons with high-frequency radio waves. The "Making the Invisible Visible" experiment tested if hot electrons produced by HAARP's radio transmissions could generate an aurora-like phenomenon called STEVE (Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement)."

SS Won't Protect GOP Convention Properly

Timothy Birdnow

The SS - that stands for Secret Service - won't move the security perimeter for the Republican convention to a reasonable distance so protesters can abuse people going there.

Pajamas Media tells us that the "free speech zone is a scant quarter of a mile from the event, while the Democrats enjoy a full three mile zone. And the GOP convention goers will have to walk right through the protest zone in Pere Lafayette Park.

The SS refused to move it.

More election tampering, in my opinion. They want an incident with Trump.

Why the Reagan Israeli Aid hold is not like Biden's

Timothy Birdnow

The lastest talking point to defend Joe "Ever Sound Retreat" Biden is that Reagan withheld military aid in 1982 to Israel too. That sound good but if you analyze it more closely these are two very different situations.

For one thing Israel was going after terrorists in a fully sovereigh state - Lebanon. This is quite different than invading a country they already control and to whom they supply water and gas and electricity. Had Israel been attacking Gaza as they are today Reagan would have never done that.

Second, President Ronald Reagan imposed a six-year ban on cluster weapons sales to Israel, not other weapons. That was done because cluster bombs are notoriously injurious to civilians.

And it should be pointed out that the weapons in question were for SALE, not freebies being handed out. Biden has broken the law by stopping the delivery of bombs already purchased by the U.S. Congress. Reagan merely stopped the sale of some weapons.

Also, Reagan did not attach the strings Mr. Biden has, demanding a full pullout and a detailed "peace plan" aka a surrender.

The reality is Joe Biden is doing to Israel what Democrats impeached Trump for threatening to do to Ukraine. The Impoundment Control Act of 1974 Made it illegal for a President to use the money earmarked by Congress for it's intended purpose. Biden had no right to hold these funds, as they were duly passed in a budget-busting aid bill.

You may remember Donald Trump threatened to hold funds if the Ukrainian government did not resume it's investigation of Hunter Biden's associates. The Democrats impeached him for it.

Here are a few headlines from the Trump era:

Trump administration violated the law by withholding Ukraine aid ... www.nbcnews.com › politics › trump-impeachment-inquiry › ukraine-aid-...

Trump Committed Crimes in His Ukraine Shakedown www.americanprogress.org › article › trump-committed-crimes-ukraine-sh...

Trump Administration Broke the Law By Withholding Ukraine Aid ... www.newsweek.com › Politics › Ukraine › Donald Trump › Impeachment

I could go on but you get the point. It's o.k. for Biden to do it but bot Trump.

And if Reagan could do it? They now defend Biden using Reagan but ignore Trump.

"Faithful execution of the law does not permit the President to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law,” the Government Accountability Office (GAO) concluded, referring to the fact that Congress had already voted to appropriate the funds.

So where is the GAO now? Why the silence on Biden?

Where is Nancy Peloi? She said of Trump:

"The OMB, the White House, the administration broke – I’m saying this – broke the law.”

Joe Biden called for Trump's impeachment for this.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/biden-calls-trump-s-impeachment-trump-immediately-responds-n1064326

It is simply astonishing the double standard employed.

Also, Barack Obama threatened to withhold a billion dollars in aid to Ukraine for the same reason Trump did.

At any rate, the two situations are not really analogous.

Why Not Everyone Else?

Diane Kimura

Why Muslims in Gaza and not the Uyghurs in China? Or what about the victims of any of the ongoing genocides around the world?

The long march through the institutions has reached a familiar target: the Jews.

Why is anti-Semitism ok? Imagine if the protesters targeted the Chinese for committing decades of atrocities against the Uyghurs? There are several ongoing genocides and mass killings around the world:

1. Genocide of Rohingya in Myanmar (since 2017): Over 24,000 Rohingya were killed and more than 18,000 Rohingya women and girls were raped by Myanmar's security forces in the first month of the 2017 crackdown alone.

2. Genocide in Darfur, Sudan (2003-present)* *: At least 300,000 deaths since 2003 when the government-spon sored militias, the Janjaweed have conducted a calculated campaign of slaughter, rape, starvation and displacement in Darfur. It is estimated that 400,000 people have died due to violence, starvation and disease.

3. Persecution of ethnic and religious minorities by the Taliban in Afghanistan (since 2021): Growing restrictions on targeted groups within the country put civilians at great risk.

The Taliban are persecuting and committing other egregious human rights violations against ethnic and religious minorities, women and girls, and perceived opposition groups since the disastrous US withdrawal and abdicating control of Afghanistan in August 2021.

4. Persecution of Hazara and other minorities by ISIS-K in Afghanistan (ongoing): ISIS-K, an Islamic State affiliate, have systematically targeted ethnic and religious minorities, particularly the Hazara community.

At the core of the protesters is hate. There is no support for the hostages of Hamas or outrage at the brutality of the attacks upon a civilian population. They selectively ignore victims of brutal regimes and the virtue signaling feminists choose to ignore the plight and mass rape of women and children around the world.

War and Rememberance (We Remember Those Places!)

Timothy Birdnow

Germany is considering reinstating universal conscription for all 18 year olds in what is clearly a major provocation to the Russians.

FTA:

Germany is considering introducing conscription for all 18-year-olds, as it looks to boost its troop numbers in the face of Russian military aggression.

Military planners in Berlin are in the final stages of discussing three options, two of which involve a form of conscription, according to leaked plans reported in the German media.

Defence Minister Boris Pistorius is set to go public with the official plans by June.

In one of the options being discussed, Germany would bring back a compulsory military year for young men once they turn 18, which was suspended in 2011, and apply it to women as well. This would require a change to the German constitution, but is seen inside the ministry as most likely to receive societal approval.

Another option would only apply to 18-year-old men, but would not see everyone selected. They would be required to fill in an online form and could then be chosen for service, according to details leaked to Die Welt newspaper. This is seen by the defence ministry as "a strong signal” to both allies and rivals.

The third option would avoid compulsory service, focusing instead on "optimising” the current system by engaging in more proactive recruitment campaigns.

However, Mr Pistorious is believed to be against that route. During a trip to Washington this week, he said: "I’m convinced that Germany needs a form of military conscription.”

[...]

Meanwhile, Berlin has also set a target of raising the size of its armed forces from some 180,000 today to more than 200,000.

The defence ministry is believed to be sceptical that this target can be met without some form of conscription.

Call it what you will but Germany is clearly (and perhaps wisely) preparing for this Ukraine thing to spiral out of control.

But it is also a major provocation as the Russians have been invaded several times by Germany over the centuries and this will undoubtedly lead them to take steps to counter a new German threat. That means more nukes aimed at Germany and Poland.

Biden to Sue Iowa for Upholding Federal Law

Timothy Birdnow

So, Joe Biden says he can't enforce the border because he doesn't have enough money, and he's demonizing Republicans for voting against the so-called "bipartisan bill" that would give him tons of money for processing illegal aliens. One of the big problems, he says, is that he doesn't have "the tools" to do his job.

So why is he suing in court to block Iowa from doing the job for him?

If it were a matter of resources as he claims he would welcome help from the states. But instead he's wasting money and time to stop a state from doing the work Joe Biden Just Won't Do.

From the Epoch Times article:

The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed the lawsuit at a court in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 9, seeking to challenge Senate File 2340 under provisions of the U.S. Constitution that assign the federal government the authority to regulate immigration and manage border-related matters.

"Iowa cannot disregard the U.S. Constitution and settled Supreme Court precedent,” Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Division, said in a statement. "We have brought this action to ensure that Iowa adheres to the framework adopted by Congress and the Constitution for regulation of immigration.”
Iowa’s law, which was signed by Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds on April 10, would make it a crime for someone to be in Iowa if they have outstanding deportation orders, or if they had been denied admission to Iowa, or if they had previously been deported from the United States.

When Ms. Reynolds signed the bill, she said the law—slated to take effect on July 1—was prompted by the Biden administration’s alleged failure to enforce immigration laws.

"The Biden Administration has failed to enforce our nation’s immigration laws, putting the protection and safety of Iowans at risk,” Ms. Reynolds said at the time. "Those who come into our country illegally have broken the law, yet Biden refuses to deport them.”

So Biden won't enforce the law and he'll fight tooth-and-nail to stop someone else from enforcing it too.

Why, it's almost as if he WANTS hordes of illegal aliens coming in!

Congress controls immigration, not the President. Laws passed by CONGRESS are supposed to be obeyed. Mr. Biden has taken it upon himself to waive those laws. He has written a new immigration law.

Yet here he is imposing his new law on the individual states, which have an absolute right to enforce laws duly passed by Congress. Also, the Constitution makes it quite plain that the states may defend themselves as they sit fit in times of invasion, which is clearly what is happening here. And don't get me started on the Tenth Amendment which says all powers not EXPRESSLY granted to the United States are reserved to the states or the People. Control of illegal aliens into the heartland is not a power expressly and solely granted to the United States.

That Joe Biden would push this despite the fact immigration is killing him at the polls shows someone else is making American policy, someone not accountable to the electorate.
