I've been putting down J.D. Vance's debate performance since Tuesday but maybe I should re-evaluate? Tom VAn Dyke at The Reform Club argues Vance handled it correctly.
Here is what Tom has to say:
I remember a trial lawyer roundtable on Court TV in the early days of cable, F. Lee Bailey, Johnnie Cochran, and the flamboyant Gerry Spence. Spence told of his first trial, where he ripped the other side's witnesses up one side and down the other. Total annihilation.
The jury came back against him. Incredulous, Spence got a chance to chat up one of the jurors--I won 17 ways to next Sunday, how on earth could I lose??
The juror replied, Why did you make us hate you? Spence said it was the greatest lesson he ever learned, one they didn't teach in law school.
Vance came in with huge poll negatives, well underwater, the result of months of trashing by the Democrat media slime machine. Job One was not to destroy the avuncular Tim Walz, but to sell himself. Indeed, instead of leaping for Walz's throat, he passed up a gimme and used his first statement to "introduce himself" to the American people.
Although he won conclusively on the issues, his real victory was having Walz eating out of his hand by the end instead of coming off like the monster the Dems had made him out to be. And managed to put the biased "moderators" in their place too, without leaving himself open to the charge of bullying women.
Regardless of who they said "won," the quickie polls had his favorable/unfavorable numbers in the black. The Trump/Vance ticket hardly needed more points for aggressiveness. Had he destroyed Uncle Tim Walz, any debate victory would have been Pyrrhic.

No, Antarctic ice is not at record lows despite what the media and alarmists are trying to gaslight us by saying.
According to Tony Heller
Antarctic sea ice cover is close to average since 1981, and is more than 1.5 million km² higher than winter 1966. The press describes this as "record winter low” and "permanent shift.”
S_20240930_extn_v3.0.png (420×500)
"in August 1966 the maximum sea ice extent fell to 15.9×10 km ± 0.3×10 km .”
untitled
Extent has been higher than last year almost every day this year, by an average of 548,658 km².

Can you say lying to steal votes? I knew you could!
Behind Today's Stunning Jobs Report: A Record Surge In Government Workers
From Tyler Durden at Zero Hedge:
... which coupled with the drop in unemployment rate, and upward historical revisions suggested that much of the recent labor market weakness may have been transitory. The one fly in the ointment was the jump in wage growth which strongly hinted that inflation is also back, just as we have been warning for months (especially now that oil is once again surging) and we will cross that bridge eventually, but not yet.
Instead for now let's focus on the parts of the jobs report which the BLS has traditionally used to mask headline weakness, such as part-time workers used to mask weakness in full-time jobs, or foreign-born workers surging at the expense of native-born. Well, this month there was little of that as well, and in fact, part-time workers dropped modestly as full-time workers rose...
Tim adds:
Government workers do not produce anything hence are not a sign of economic growth. Rather they illustrate how the Biden administration is desperately trying to get a good jobs report to trick voters into thinking "Bidenomics" is working (after four solid years of failure.) But it's all a shell game, a con.
But then these people want us ALL working for the government so we cannot turn them out of power - ever.
The Russians and Chinese already tried that and found it didn't work. But now we are moving in that direction.

Trump up by 7% according to the latest Rasmussen poll.
In the words of Han Solo after Luke Skywalker shot down an imperial fighter "don't get cocky kid". The Democrats can steal what they need to win the Electoral College if we don't stop them.

A sure sign panic is setting in among the Democrats. Joe Biden warns of violence in the upcoming election.
What does that mean? It means he is going to use the full force of the United states government to suppress Republicans and use the power at his disposal to steal the election, that's what it means.

So why is DHS footdragging on disaster relief in the areas hurt by hurricane Helena?
Well, for starters, the part of North Carolina most badly hit is primarily Republican.
With the election just weeks away the Democrats hope the damage suppresses GOP turnout in this important state.
FTA:
In Avery, Buncombe, and Watauga counties, elections staff are working or taking calls. The status of Mitchell and Yancey counties is not clear as the elections website lists them as "closed” with no other details.
The website also includes a breakdown by party among registered voters in the 25 counties designated as disaster zones. Some 480,000 voters are registered as Republican and 292,000 as Democratic.
Another 490,000 are unaffiliated with either major party, the elections website shows. Around 10,000 people are registered with third parties in the affected areas.

I've been suggesting this since the hurricane hit. FEMA is punishing red states and trying to disenfranchise voters by not bringing in any relief.
Elon Musk Says FEMA’s Inability to Help Helene Victims Part of an Agenda to Disenfranchise Voters
Anyone remember when Bush was roundly abused for Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath? It hurt the GOP in the elections. Now we have the Biden/Harris Administration completely fumbling the ball (or more likely purposely spiking it) but the media says little. Why the doubtle standard? Well, we all know.
BTW DHS Secretary Myorkas - who was impeached unsuccessfully by the GOP - said FEMA is running out of money (which they spent on illegals). Nine Republican Senators refused to sign a letter calling for Myorkas' removal from office. And here is how they voted.
So there is blood on the hands of the Democrats and the RINO Republicans who saved this despicable partisan who is both incompetent and refuses to do his job.
Here are Musk's comments on X:
Here is a detailed explanation of how the Democratic Party is turning all swing states, and thereby the whole country, into a permanent one-party state.
It is happening before your very eyes. https://t.co/jvzNLPY6iz
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 4, 2024
The Dems are doing deliberate voter importation to swing states & fast-tracking them to citizenship.
The only question is when (not if) enough migrants can vote to flip all swing states, shifting the whole country to permanent one-party rule, just like what happened to… https://t.co/2eNPtYOxOZ
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 3, 2024
It’s only a matter of time before the illegals in the swing states are legally able to vote. If it were up to leading Dems, they would be allowed to vote right now!
Here is Schumer saying exactly that: https://t.co/eSd8bma8Aq https://t.co/HYkXUon0EG
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 4, 2024
"[Democrats] are literally using YOUR tax dollars to import voters and disenfranchise you!”
"It is happening right in front of your eyes,” he added.
Yes, they are literally using YOUR tax dollars to import voters and disenfranchise you!
It is happening right in front of your eyes.
And FEMA used up its budget ferrying illegals into the country instead of saving American lives. Treason. https://t.co/dIavFKbwmb
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 4, 2024
"And FEMA used up its budget ferrying illegals into the country instead of saving American lives. Treason.”
End
DHS denials they diverted funds to illegals has been soundly debunked and it is now clear DHS has squandered large amounts of money to facilitate the invasion of America and is now refusing to do it's job.
Oh, adn the failure is far worse than anyone realizes.
Time for Congress to launch a second impeachment of Myorkas.

Food prices—especially meat and poultry—have skyrocketed in the past four years and could be exacerbated further next year when new EPA rules for meat processors go into effect.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Price Outlook for September reported that beef and veal prices had increased for six months and predicted they would rise 5.2 percent in 2024. Poultry prices also rose by a smaller percentage and are expected to rise more before year’s end.
The report traced the rise to pandemic-related supply chain disruptions and the worst inflation since the 1980s.
Analysts say that next year, meat and poultry prices at the grocery store could still be higher. An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposal is expected to put some meat processors out of business, resulting in potential job losses and supply chain disruptions.
The EPA announced a proposed rule change governing effluent, or wastewater, limits for meat and poultry processors in January of this year, followed by public comment in the spring.
The agency’s final rule will go into effect in August 2025.
Dozens of states, industry stakeholders, and policy experts have opposed the proposal, fearing it will harm the industry, the food supply, and consumers.
Tim adds:
How is "supply chain disruption" the cause of this four years after the end of the pandemic? I call BS on that. And we are INCREASING our exports of broiler meat, so why are prices rising?
" U.S. broiler meat exports 2014-2024 From 2014 to 2022, the export of broiler meat from the United States was at its highest volume in 2020, when approximately 3.38 million metric tons of broiler meat were exported. The U.S. is expected to export about 3.21 million metric tons in 2024."
This has nothing to do with supply chain disruptions if you ask me and everything to do with general inflation causeed by bad monetary policy coupled with increasingly draconic regulations designed to strangle the industry and drive prices up (and thus force Americans to seek non-meat alternatives or eat bugs.) It's U.N. Agenda 21/30 being put into practice by the elites, who have never gotten over their Malthusian views from the seventies and Paul Ehrlicht and the Club of Rome idiotcy.

A people that can no longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong. Putin's "justification" for taking Crimea from Ukraine is that Khrushchev "made a mistake" giving it to Ukraine. Below is a map of Ukraine in 1919.
Not only was Crimea part of Ukraine, but quite a bit of land to the east was also that Russia continues to claim.
Stealing land from other countries by conquest, genocide, and population replacement is nothing new for them. They've been doing it for centuries.
Tim replies:
Greg I don't disagree - especially with that part about Russia and land grabs. But I do quote this from the Wilson Center.

"Crimea was part of Russia from 1783, when the Tsarist Empire annexed it a decade after defeating Ottoman forces in the Battle of Kozludzha, until 1954"
Certainly the Crimean War (1853-6) was fought by Russia and Western allies against the Ottomans. Yes, Ukrainians were undoubtedly part of the coalition but it was understood they were part of the Tsar's empire.
In fact the region had been under the empire from the annexation of the Crimean khanate in 1783 after the Battle of Kozludzha. Catherine the Great first annexed it from the Khanate.
But of course they gave it to Ukraine in 1954 and thus had no right to simply invade and take it back. Using their logic Russia can take back Alaska from the U.S., Spain take Florida, Mexico take Texas and the whole southwest.

So FEMA is already out of money? Bill H. makes a powerful observation:
Bill H.
Somebody is messing with us. How can FEMA, or any other federal agency, be out of money at the BEGINNING of the fiscal year. The fiscal year, which involves budget and availability of money, for the US begins October 1st. If you are out of money on October 1st, that means Congress did not give you any money.

I have found, through decades of stumbling, that uncovering the true logic behind human actions in the modern world requires considerable intellectual effort. This is because the world we live in, shaped by societal structures, technological advances, cultural norms, and economic systems, often presents complexities and contradictions that obscure the rationale behind why people act as they do.
There are obviously mental contortions and distortions that we, as a society, must contend with on a daily basis and provides implications for understanding the motives and consequences of human behavior that often involves grappling with contradictions, biases, and incomplete information. Human beings are rarely guided by pure logic; emotions, societal pressures, and misinformation often cloud our decision-making process. Unraveling these factors requires mental agility and the willingness to question assumptions.
The inherited systems, political, economic, and social, that were established long before we came into existence give rise to a set of conclusions about such systems. These systems often have their own internal logic, shaped by historical circumstances, power dynamics, and entrenched ideologies. However, from an individual perspective, these systems may seem arbitrary or counterintuitive. Finding coherence in our actions within these pre-existing structures demands a deeper inquiry into their origins and the forces that sustain them.
Logic, in this context, is the rational process of understanding cause and effect, while wisdom involves the broader understanding of the implications and moral dimensions of our actions. True wisdom doesn’t just involve discovering logical patterns; it also requires reflection on the ethical and existential consequences of those actions. Wisdom is attained when one not only comprehends the logic of behavior but also discerns its value and purpose in a larger context.
The journey to understanding human actions within the frameworks of a pre-constructed world is arduous because it requires disentangling layers of complexity, acknowledging distortions, and reconciling logical insights with broader ethical considerations. True wisdom arises from not only navigating this labyrinth of thought but also aligning our understanding with deeper truths about human nature and societal functioning.
Tim adds:
Therein lies the crux at the end. There are those in positions of authority and influence who do not want to see reality as it is. They believe they can change reality through an action of will, just as Nietzche thought. They have some science to back their view; quantum physics and it's lack of determinacy, relativity, etc. have been used to justify the view reality is subjective and not objective. Hence they believe they can change it by changing what people believe. But we do not live in a universe governed by quantum indeterminacy, nor by relativistic effects, both of which are at the margins of our existence. We live in a deterministic universe by and large. Yes, those things are there and applicable in special circumstances but not where we live. There is such a thing as truth. But the powers that be don't want truth because they want ultimately to be gods unto themselves.
So a whoole series of lies and fantasies are promoted as "alternate truths" and the public grows weary of trying to ascertaine what is real compared to what is the approved fiction. it is often easier to just knuckle under and pretend you believe the lie. That is how it was in the Soviet Union and how it now is throughout the world. And the dichotomy between reality and this alternate-universe of the mind causes so many of the modern societal ills. You cannot hold competing views or reality and not go insane. That's where our society is today.

Kamala Harris says insomnia hit after Biden dropped out, she was sleep-deprived the day of Walz pick
Sleep deprived? More like she was on a week-long drunk, if you ask me. Only someone really loaded would make such a bad decision.
Actually this shows she's not Presidential material; Presidents have to be able to be dog-tired and make good decisions. She's just asleep at the wheel.

We stopped using fluoride toothpaste years ago and have switched to a brand that contains hydroxyapatite instead. Neither of us have had any cavities in over 10 years.
‘House of Cards’: Several U.S. Cities Hit Pause on Water Fluoridation in Wake of Historic Federal Ruling
Several U.S. cities, towns and counties announced they will stop fluoridating their water in the aftermath of a landmark federal court ruling that found water fluoridation at current levels poses an "unreasonable risk” of reduced IQ in children.
Abilene, Texas; Yorktown and Somers, New York; and the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District in Utah are among those cities and districts that responded quickly to the Sept. 24 ruling by U.S. District Judge Edward Chen.
Chen ruled the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can no longer ignore the risk fluoridation poses to human — especially children’s — health and that the agency must take regulatory action.
Tim adds:
Remember Dr. Strangelove? Gen. Jack Ripper, who launches the nukes, worries about his precious bodily fluids because he thinks flouridation was a commie plot. His recall code was "purity of essence".
Who looks crazy now?
