Last Man Standing Falls

Warner Todd Huston

Fox’s ‘Last Man Standing’ Latest Network Show to Push an Anti-Police Message

Tim adds:

I think Tim Allen is looking to his future prospects after the show ends. He knows this show may kill his career and he wants to ingratiate himself with the ruling class so he can remain viable. It's still disgraceful pandering; he owed the continued existence of LMS to the fans, who brought it back from the dead primarily because it presented an alternative viewpoint to the politically correct messages on all other programs.

Allen just threw all those fans under the bus with this. Why? He could have had Chuck say "well, I would have taken myself in for questioning if I had been them and caught me prowling around a private residence" but he didn't. Instead he had Mike Baxter be angry and say "I'm going to have to take this in a different direction" about his vlog. We know what THAT means.

Britain to Lockdown Birds

Timothy Birdnow

So now, not being content with just locking every human being away, the British government is issuing lockdown orders - for captive birds!

You can't make this stuff up.

How long will it take to "flatten the curve" for our avian friends?

So, will we now have permanent lockdowns for Chicken Pox? Turkey neck?

Global Warming Gone

Timothy Birdnow

Gobal Warming? What Global Warming!

From Scott Rose

The global temperature is very close to baseline. The GFS has recorded global temperatures as low as -0.1 c recently and has currently recovered to +0.2c. The UAH is sitting at +0.12c. What I wanted to bring up today is that for all practical purposes, there is no global warming. The entire multi decadal trend has already been reversed. Why? We are within the tolerance of most weather instruments. Let me explain. I’ve put 2 of the exact same sensor, of the same battery type, in the same instrument shelter in the same place. Sometimes they match... like the low temp last night. Currently at the time of this post they a 0.2 deg F apart. Earlier today, I found them to be 0.8 deg F apart. Depending on the situation, this means that if I’m rounding to the nearest degree, I may get 2 results 1 deg F apart even within the same instrument shelter if I round to a whole number. For instance, if one is 14.6, and the other is 14.4, I will record a completely different temperature. Considering this situation, I suspect that we might be able to perhaps measure 1/2 a degree C fairly accurately best case, with some inaccurate readings most likely due to rounding. Making huge public policy decisions based on tenths of a degree c is ridiculous. A few tenths of a degree on the global temperature is the least of our concerns. Knowing about regional weather patterns is way more important. For instance, knowing that a La Niña (cold tropical Pacific) means arctic air heading further south in the winter could have saved a lot of issues from happening in Texas. Or knowing a La Niña year means a busy Atlantic Hurricane season can have folks better prepared in advance. Nobody lives at the global average.

Craven Biden Kisses the Mullah Fannies

Timothy Birdnow

Biden just ignores an attack by Iran and kisses their Mullah behinds.

Biden rewards Iran’s bad behavior by begging it to make a deal

"Three days after Iran bombed a base killing a contractor, Joe Biden is at the bargaining table with the world’s largest exporter of terrorism begging their forgiveness. That is the difference between a leader and a pretender.

The United States is making believe the attack never happened in order to sign an agreement that Iran will break anyway. The US and a few of our allies did send a "strongly worded” condemnation of the bombing , but pretending it never happened in their weak negotiations.”

Erasing Lincoln

Timothy Birdnow

Eleanor Holmes Norton reintroduced a bill to Congress to remove the Emancipation statue of Abraham Lincoln from a D.C. Federal park.

Well, if we are going to erase Abraham Lincoln perhaps we should erase all of his works as well? Eliminate the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment?

That's how cancel culture works, right?

The monstrous ingratitude toward the best friend African Americans ever had is astonishing. Lincoln gave up so very much in the pursuit of emancipation. He sent so many men to their deaths and killed so many more people from starvation in the aftermath of the war, and it weighed terribly on him. So he didn't speak as if blacks were the equals of whites; so what? He had to say those things to be seen as a centrist or he would have been dismissed as a radical and accomplished nothing. Of course I doubt Eleanor Holmes Norton even knows that Lincoln and the GOP were the primary opponents of slavery and HER party was the one that fought to keep it in existence.

Lies About White Supremacists and Mass Shootings

This from Willis Eschenbach:

Folks are continually harping on the idea of "white supremacists", although few people have actually met one in real life. One of the memes is that "white supremacists" are doing most of the mass murders in the US.

Not true. See the link below. There have been 78 mass murders in the US since 1998. White people are slightly under-represent ed among mass murderers, black people are somewhat over-represente d, and Middle Eastern people are way over-represente d.

In addition, in the 78 shootings, most had no political or racial motives. Only TWO were right-wing extremists/ racially motivated. Six were Islamic extremists. Six were Democrats/ liberals.

About three times as many were killed by pistols as by rifles ... so much for the "assault weapon" meme.

Another interesting fact: of the 696 people killed in the 78 shootings, 677 of them were killed in a "gun free zone", places where guns were forbidden.

So ... why all the hysteria about "right-wing extremists"?

Simple. It gives liberals someone to pin their hatred on.

Lots more of interest in the Excel spreadsheet, which you can download from the link below.

The False Narrative of White Supremacists Doing Mass Shootings

Tim adds:

I wrote about this a while back at American Thinker and later at Canada Free Press. In fact, as a percentage of the population Asians kill more people in rampages than anyone. Whites kill more in terms of numbers solely because whites make up the lion's share of the population. But there is plenty of death to go around. Blacks are usually lumped in with the general crimes as opposed to mass shootings even when they are mass shooting up the joint. And we don't really have good stats for Hispanics who are often listed as white or some variant or the crime is listed as "drug related" or whatnot.

Fauci's Wing Man is Heroin Addict

Timothy Birdnow

I knew those people had to be on something very hard...

From the N.Y. Post:

Carl Hart is a Columbia University professor of psychology and neuroscience. He chairs the psych department and has a fondness for heroin. He was just hired by Fauci's NIH to help design our nation's "health" curriculum.

"I snort heroin every day for work/life balance. There aren’t many things in life that I enjoy more than a few lines by the fireplace at the end of the day."

Carl's not just a daily heroin user - he also LOVES using MDMA and methamphetamine which bring him "intense feelings of pleasure, gratitude and energy. When I’m rolling, I just want to breathe deeply and enjoy it. The simple act of breathing can be extremely pleasurable.” Carl doesn't recommend mixing heroin & alcohol because then you die.

What is White?

Timothy Birdnow

On Facebook Cornelius Carroll  made the following observation:

"Use this phrase if you are subjected to a mandatory Critical Race Theory session at work. They’ll tell you that you have to admit your whiteness. It’s the core of the classes!”

I’m not white. I’m fair-skinned and that has nothing to do with me as a person!

I replied:

What determines white? In the days of eugenics it was the 1% rule; if you had 1% non-European blood you were considered a mixed race person. I would dare say a DNA test would determine most Americans have some Indian or black or Oriental blood in them somewhere. So how do you admit you are "white" when by the old definition you may well not be? And if you have to be predominantly black or other ethnic minority to qualify, where does that leave people like Barack Obama who is half Irish and a quarter Arab? Or Kamela Harris who is half East Inidan and probably mixed race on her Jamaican side as well? Obviously being "white" has nothing to do with genetics but everything to do with cultural identification and personal attitude. And given the Left is always telling us how all cultures are equal why is being white any worse than being African American, or Native American, or Eskimo American, or Saami American or any other hyphenated American? And if it's not worse then why do they demand we admit to a privilege that does not exist? The fact is, there is minority privilege which is provable beyond "dog whistles" including multiple government programs such as Race Norming in hiring or Affirmative Action or special scholarships for minorities etc. Promotion and advancement is far easier for a minority who works hard and does the right thing than for the average white person. So why should a person who doesn't even know if he qualifies as white admit to privilge which he doesn't even know exists? (And if race is a function of self-identification than it is a choice, so why should a bad choice be the fault of those who do not make it?)

Covid a Bad Flu Season

James Doogue

Remember When People Were Ridiculed For Claiming Covid-19 Is Just A Bad Flu?

Despite the scary media headlines and politician's speaches, the data shows the Covid-19 infection fatality rate is now on par with just a bad flu season. That's without a Covid-19 vaccine in play!

It proves we shouldn't wait for a vaccine to get back to normal. Even with just a voluntary vaccination program, the Covid-19 infection fatality rate could fall below seasonal influenza and we haven't stopped the world for that!

At the end of April last year France had the world's highest Covid-19 case fatality rate at 18.65%. [source removed]

Today, with good health care, and provided the patient is not medically fragile due to advanced age or multiple co-morbidities, most patients would be expected to survive Covid-19.

This dramatic turnaround in survivability is due to a number of factors including: (not in any order of priority)

1. Reduced median age of patients.
2. Early detection of infection.
3. Early Treatment of Patient.
4. A much better understanding of the virus.
5. A range of effective treatment protocols.
6. Prophylaxis treatments are being used widely.

Globally the current case fatality rate is 3%, well down from the rates above 10% early last year. This takes all deaths from all cases from January 2020.

We can get an idea of what the future likely case fatality rate will be by the time we stop bothering to report daily Covid-19 reports, when we look at current data.

There are an estimated 22.6 million active Covid-19 cases with just 0.4%, or 95,482 cases listed as serious. Some of the active cases will become serious , while most will recover, as will most of the serious cases.

It is therefore logical that the case fatality rate for Covid-19 from this point in time will be somewhere lower than the current number of serious cases at just 0.4%

There are plenty of 'experts' who warn against pointing to dramatically falling case fatality rates. They say a more deadly or more infectious strain of the virus might come along..

These are the same panic merchants who glibly lock-down the economy, destroying lives and livelihoods so they can claim they are keeping you safe.

According to the CDC, each year, on average, 5% - 20% of the United States population gets the flu. [source removed]

In the last 12 months or so, 28,523,524 people have returned positive Covid-19 results in the US despite a massive, free, testing campaign. That's not even 9% of the total US population.

According to the CDC in the US the flu has resulted in 9.3 million to 49.0 million illnesses each year in the United States since 2010.

Covid-19 infections are well within this range. [Source removed]

It is estimated that the flu results in 31.4 million outpatient visits and more than 200,000 hospitalization s each year on average.
[Source removed]

During the severe 2017-2018 flu season, one of the longest in recent years, estimates indicate that more than 900,000 people were hospitalized and more than 80,000 people died from flu.
[Source removed]

In the US there have been 1,690,996 Covid-19 hospitalisation s and 505,309 Covid-19 deaths, since January 2020. [Source removed]

That is much more severe than the bad flu season of 2017-18 without question. But as can be seen from the graph below, even though the number of daily cases dramatically rose from September last year, the number of deaths increased only fractionally. Which means the infection fatality rate was dropping dramatically.

In one major review of the literature 71 studies were looked at around the world and calculated current Covid-19 infection fatality rates of between 0.0% and 1.67% with a median rate of 0.27%.
[Source removed]

The most recent data from the US estimates the seasonal influenza infection fatality rate at between 0.12% and 0.15%.
[Source removed]

Given continuing falling fatality rates for Covid-19 and improved treatments, we can expect the median infection fatality rate to fall further.

Based on the recent data and literature, Covid-19 is looking more and more like becoming as troubling as a bad flu. And that might be the worst case scenario.

Add to the equation that we have an annual influenza vaccination program which covers about 50% of the US population, and 65% of the Australian population which would help dampen the flu infection fatality rate, once a Covid-19 vaccine is introduced, we might even see Covid-19 infection fatality rates drop below that of seasonal influenza.
Or
After all, the claimed efficacy rate of Covid-19 vaccines is up to 95%. The efficacy of the seasonal influenza vaccine is between 45% and 70%. It's likely the infection fatality rate for both Covid-19 and seasonal influenza will close to around the aboiy0.

We need to drop the shackles of Covid-19 restrictions and learn to live with what is likely, just the latest, in many more viruses to come.

Coal and Gas Needed to Keep Wind Turbines Going in the Colde

Timothy Birdnow

In Germany they heat the windmills to keep them turning during cold snaps.

See a PDF from Siemens here.

"Renewables" suck up a lot of power, be it in their construction, in the batteries used for storage, or in the backups. Now we know in warming their blades when it's cold. At what point do we simply chuck them as bad money after good?

The Texas Two Step

Timothy Birdnow

Wonder why Texas is suffering blackouts? It's because they went with  wind and solar and tried to make up the balance when those "renewables" didn't work  with natural gas - and have no way to store it. Below is a graph showing the problem in a nutshell:

May be an image of text that says 'ctric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCO) electricity generation energy source 2/4/2021 2/17/2021, Central Time megawatthours 80,000 Wrightstone 2/17/21 Courtesy Alex Epstein 60,000 Solar 40,000 Wind 20,000 Natural Gas 0 4 Feb 2021 6Feb2021 Nuclear Coal 2021 Wind 10 Feb 2021 Solar 12Feb2021 Hydro Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration 14 Feb 2021 Other 16 Feb 20218 Natural gas Coal Nuclear'

Most of the electricity generated is coming from gas, but as you can see even that dropped way off even while the cold weather hit. You can't make something from nothing.

It's clear they have a problem storing the gas, at least in sufficient quantities. Coal is easy to store, and nuclear too. Renewables are very hard to store and so is natural gas. Oil is strangely absent from this, as oil is a rather common Texas commodity. Apparently they don't use oil for heating in the Lone Star State.

This shows what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket, which is what was done with gas here as it augments the foolishness of wind and solar, largely useless energy sources for mass consumption.

Who knows more about climate and agriculture than Bill Gates and Mike Bloomberg

Jack Kemp

Recently we were lectured on global warming by a Harvard freshman dropout named Bill Gates. Last year we were lectured about how easy it is to grow crops without specialized knowledge by a high tech graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology named Michael Bloomberg.

You know who knows more about both agriculture and the effect of climate on the earth than the both of them? It is a native Iowan Harvard graduate with honors in literature who, after not formally using his education for a number of years, successfully became a four term Republican U.S. Congressman from that state who learned a great deal about agriculture and championed that issue in Washington, a skill that got him reelected three times before he retired.

When this native Iowan first graduated Harvard, he tried his hand at acting on television. Cong. Fred Grandy was Assistant Purser Burl "Gopher" Smith on the Love Boat tv series in the 1970s. So I dare say that Gopher knows more about climate and growing seasons, soil erosion, etc. than either Bill Gates or Michael Bloomberg. Grandy was also formerly President of Goodwill Industries and a Senior Fellow for National Security Affairs at the Washington-based Center for Security Policy, When Grandy held that last position, I interviewed him in New York and posted it on the Aviary years ago - without mentioning to him his famous tv role.

Biden's border crisis – here's what happened in record time, and where this will lead

Dana Mathewson, with hat tip to wife Martha.

Since Aviary readers are intelligent, none of this will surprise you, especially since you're well aware that "a dumb-ass with a pen is infinitely more dangerous than a smart-ass with a Twitter account (wish I could properly credit that remark, but I DID receive it from my sister-in-law Nancy)."

Anyhow, from a recent Fox News article,

In the week leading up to President Biden’s inauguration, caravans of migrants began making their way to the United States fueled by his rhetoric. This is the direct result of the policies Biden preached on the campaign trail and the executive orders implemented in the early days of his administration.

Our Central American partners will only be able to hold the line on stopping these caravans for so long before efforts become futile. This is not hyperbole or alarmist talk but simply undeniable recognition that we are on the precipice of a full-fledged border crisis.

Biden wasted no time pulling out his pen and unraveling policies critical to our national security, border security and immigration enforcement. From pausing deportations, to halting border wall construction and ending the "Remain in Mexico" policy, the president slapped an "open" sign on our border–during a global pandemic.

Chastising commonsense policies that maintained the integrity of our territorial borders, while implementing sweeping executive actions to roll back these effective programs and policies, has reinvigorated irregular migration.

We don’t have to guess why they are coming. They have told us why.The very migrants who are traveling toward our southwest border and are poised to enter the country illegally have said in recent media interviews they were encouraged by Biden’s rhetoric and relaxing of Trump era policies.

We are already seeing frighteningly similar trends to those that led to the previous security and humanitarian crisis along the southwest border.Since October 2020, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) monthly encounters are mirroring rates not seen since the lead-up to the peak of the 2019 border crisis. In fact, CBP currently encounters an average of 3,000 individuals a day.

For context, Jeh Johnson, former secretary of Homeland Security under President Barak Obama, said that during his tenure, 1,000 apprehensions a day was a "bad number." According to CBP, family unit apprehensions have more than quadrupled in just the past two weeks and are trending upward.

Border patrol agents in Texas have already been forced to reimplement "catch-and-release"–a sign of the seriousness of the surge.

The practice of apprehending, issuing a notice to appear, and releasing into the interior of the country is a pull factor for individuals crossing the border illegally. On top of that, those being released haven’t been tested for COVID-19. If this doesn’t scream crisis, I am not sure what does.

The situation at the border, combined with the raging pandemic, has created a perfect storm of security, humanitarian and public health concerns.

The rest of the article, which I commend to your attention, is here: https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/biden-border-immigration-crisis-rep-john-katko

Country Music in the Crosshairs by the Wokies

Increase in Agricultural Output

Timothy Birdnow

This put the Malthusian ideas about mass starvation that were so popular in the '70's and '80's to shame. We now know that we can increase production through innovation and planning if we choose. The whole point of the mordern environmental movement is to reduce the world's population because (they say) it isn't "sustainable" and yet here we have proof that it very much IS sustainable.

Babysitter Got Back

School Board Mocks Parents Who Support Reopening 'They Want their Babysitters Back'

Tough toenails. The school board and the teachers are paid by the parents and if the parents want them standing on their heads in the classroom they should oblige or find another job. Oh, and it was the Progressives who sold public education as babysitting. They were the ones who promoted longer school hours, summer school, after school programs, "latchkey kids" programs, school meals, etc. So now they don't like what they themselves fostered. Again, I say tough. They asked for it.

A Radio Man and His Presidents

Dana Mathewson

Some of you may have watched the wonderful tributes to Rush Limbaugh on Fox News yesterday. One may wish that Rush had been able to see these while he was still alive.

There are many articles still being written, and more will be. Here's a thoughtful analysis of his influence in City Journal, that discusses how, from George H.W. Bush to Donald Trump, presidents have not been able to ignore him. Rather than excerpt it, I will just give you the entire link. It's not a very long article but it's worth your time to read it all.
