Liberal "Groupiness" and Fear Projection

Timothy Birdnow

Here is an interesting bit of research. Not anything we didn't already know.

From the article:

In an experiment with 141 people, participants were surveyed on their political affiliations, which identified them as self-declared Democrats or Republicans, or as subjects who leaned more Democrat or Republican in terms of their political beliefs (called Independents, for the purposes of the study).

They also took part in a survey that asked them a number of seemingly neutral questions about their aesthetic preferences in relation to a series of artworks, choosing favourites among similar-looking paintings or different lines of poetry.

After these exercises, the participants took part in tests where they were placed in groups - either based around political affiliations (Democrats or Republicans), or more neutral categorisations reflecting their answers about which artworks they preferred. In a third test, the groups were random.

While in these groups, the participants ran through an income allocation exercise, in which they could choose to allocate various amounts of money to themselves, to fellow group members, or to members of the other group.

The researchers expected to find bias in terms of these income allocations based around political mindsets, with people giving themselves more money, along with people who shared their political persuasion. But they also found something else.

"We compare Democrats with D-Independents and find that party members do show more in-group bias; on average, their choices led to higher income for in-group participants," the authors explain in their study.

Gee; whoda thunk it! Democrats are more partisan than Democrat-leaning independents.

But here is the interesting point:

"Yet, these party-member participants also show more in-group bias in a second nonpolitical setting. Hence, identification with the group is not necessarily the driver of in-group bias, and the analysis reveals a set of subjects who consistently shows in-group bias, while another does not."

Which proves the Left blackballs conservatives in other areas of life. You are either with them or against them. It doesn't matter if you are involved in science or waiting tables, they will try to cut you out if they can.

Here is another interesting point:

By contrast, the latter type, non-groupy individuals, don't display this kind of tendency, and are more likely to act the same way, regardless of whether or not they're in a group setting. These non-groupy individuals also seem to make faster decisions than groupy people, the team found.

"We don't know if non-groupy people are faster generally," Kranton says.

"It could be they're making decisions faster because they're not paying attention to whether somebody is in their group or not each time they have to make a decision."

Hmmm.

What this is saying is that there are those who are afraid to act outside of the collective. These individuals cannot make quick decisions because they have to first take into account what others will expect.

We've known this all along, but it's good to have a scientific study confirm it. Liberals are collective in nature. They fear standing on their own. Like herd animals, they seek the protection of the group. It explains why they are so willing to embrace socialism. It explains why they are so eager to find their identity in groups i.e. racial identity, or sexual identity.

I've always argued that liberals are the kids who stayed in their playpens, who never wandered outside alone, who were frightened of solitude. They are, in my opinion, the kids who wanted guardrails on their beds and were afraid to take risks. They internalized their fears into a political position. And they desperately seek to impose that worldview on others because they fear anything outside of their protective cocoon. Snowflakes and safe spaces are a natural end result of this mindset.

So are laws designed to make you safe. The whole Covid 19 overreaction is a prime example.

Notice they made no mention of Democrats v. Republicans in terms of "groupiness'; why do you suppose that is? I am sure comparing the two sides of the political divide would have made the contrast quite stark. They probably feared doing that because they wouldn't get published by "woke" crybaby peer reviewers.

I remember a number of years ago some liberal researchers tried to pin fear and cowardice on Conservatives. That was just projection (and it was rebutted by later research.) This suggests it was pure projection.

I would say conservatives are more realistic and understand dangers better. Why? Because we don't expect to be coddled and protected by someone else. If you are responsible for your own safety and security (and prosperity) you are more cautious about managing risk. Liberals don't bother managing risk, because they expect someone else to do it. Therein is the crux of the difference between us; liberals are emotional children, expecting the tribe/herd to maintain guardrails. Their idea of freedom is to do anything they want and count on others to maintain secure fences to keep them from hurting themselves. Conservatives think freedom is being able to make your own decisions about your life and walk fearlessly without borders. It's a huge psychological difference.

Of course, the Left would never admit this, or put it that way. But it is real and it is why we do not see eye to eye. To put it in terms of wildlife, we are bears and they are wolves. Wolves don't generally take down bears, but they annoy the hell out of them - and steal their food.

Pretty much describes a liberal, doesn't it!

How Now California Brown Out

This from Stephen Heinz

California Has Had An Energy Crisis For Decades
(See link to recent Robert Bryce piece below)

The California electricity crisis, also known as the Western U.S. energy crisis of 2000 and 2001, was a situation in which the U.S. state of California had a shortage of electricity supply caused by market manipulations and capped retail electricity prices. The state suffered from multiple large-scale blackouts, one of the state's largest energy companies collapsed, and the economic fall-out greatly harmed Governor Gray Davis's standing.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_electricity_crisis

Almost 20 years ago when I was attending my first California energy conference, I realized how complex and political CA energy policy was. After all, Gray Davis was being ripped from the Governor’s chair and blackouts abounded.

After listening to newly appointed head of CPUD Mike Peevey lunchtime speech, I asked if there was any chance CA Energy would become any less complex. Everybody, including Mike Peevey, laughed loudly.

Then, some lawyer or accountant in the back of the room, says in a loud voice: "There goes our revenue stream.”

I still can’t help wondering if there is any chance CA Energy Policy will get less complex.

Facebook Schemes to Censor President

Timothy Birdnow

Facebook plans to censor the President on the runup to the election:

Facebook will take down Trump posts that violate standards: report

With early voting set to begin soon in many states, Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg said on Tuesday the social media giant is not afraid to remove a post by President Trump if it violates company policies.

"When the president violates our hate speech standards or gives false information about voter suppression or coronavirus, it comes down,” Sandberg told the outlet.

And Zuckerberg doesn't think Facebook is an editor?

The Last Trump?

Timothy Birdnow

It had been since March since my last haircut. Covid 19 had closed the barbers down, and I was reluctant to go to them after they opened; you have to get very chummy with your barber, after all. It's much closer than anybody except maybe your dentist.

So I put it off as long as possible. I would like to say I had developed a long flowing mane of hair, making me look like Fabio, but in reality I looked more like Curly with Shemp Howard's haircut. So I had to bite the bullet.

I went to a local place, not a barber. I prefer old man barbers who just cut the hair off and talk sports, but I didn't have a regular anymore and the last guy I went to got a packaged delivered by another old Italian guy while he had the razor to my neck, and both of them were swiveling their heads about and so I put that fellow down to my last option after that; I really don't want to find a horse's head in my bed some morning.

So off I trudged into the unfamiliar yellow of the day (since the lockdown began I have been pretty much like Dracula, living entirely in artificial light.)

My neighbor stopped me with some news. She has a camera mounted on her porch and caught footage of a car casing housing, particularly my own. It was three a.m. when a car with flashers on was slowly making it's way down the street, shining a spotlight on certain houses. It stopped right in front of my house and checked it out. She reported it to the police who agreed it was most likely someone casing the neighborhood, as cops don't use flashers but the big overhead lights, and they don't have passenger side spotlights.

She had posted it online and took a pasting from people who wanted to dismiss it as criminal activity "probaboly searching for their lost cat". At 3 o'clock in the morning, using a spotlight?

As my neighbor pointed out, the City has cracked down on crime, creating the so-called "Haynden's Rectangle" where crime had been running rampant. Well, what happens when you crack down on crime only in one area?  Anybody?

That is the bureaucratic mind aat work. Nobody ever even considered that criminals have cars and can move.

They should have learned; when St. Louis tore down McCree Town, a slum in midtown, the criminals just moved further south, primarily into Dutchtown, a working class neighborhood. Now Dutchtown is a crime-riddled ghetto area, but that is fairly recent and was clearly caused by elminating one bad neighborhood. People have to go somewhere, even criminals.

At any rate, I'm going to have to be vigilant. It helps that I don't have anything worth stealing...

At any rate, I had my hair cut by a middle aged woman in a south side establishment. For those of you who do not know St. Louis, the south side is the deepest of blue territory, Democratic to the core. These are the people who wear medals to St. Franklin Roosevelt. These are blue collar Democrats, the kind who used to be the bread and butter of the party.

I really didn't feel like discussing politics, but after some chit-chat about Coronavirus she brought it up.

To be frank, I was rather shocked by what she was telling me. She said at least three times "I don't know if I can bring myself to vote for Trump" even though I had said nothing about it and made no mention of my own politics. It was like a woman trying to talk herself out of something she already decided to do "I don't like the way he talks. But he's done a lot of good stuff". I agreed to both.

She then told me most of her south side clients said they were voting Trump, and almost all of her BLACK clients and friends have been trying to talk her into voting Trump! Apparently the choice of Kamala Harris has enraged the Black community, at least here in St. Louis.

Now this is just one person, but she talks to a lot of people every day, a lot of blue collar locals. I was rather under the impression most of them were going back to the Democrats this election cycle.

If she is any indication of how people are going to vote we may be in for a big surprise comeback by the President.

But vote fraud is going to run rampant in this election. I rather suspect that if Trump wins all the old blue collar Democrats he's still going to be in peril and the dead shall rise from their graves at the last Trump, or to make it the last of Trump.

Trump Pardons Susan B. Anthony for Vote Fraud

Timothy Birdnow

I think this is a terrible idea. Trump wants to win over some feminists - something he is unlikely to do. What does this say?

Trump pardons Susan B. Anthony for crime of voting as a woman

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed a pardon for women’s suffrage icon Susan B. Anthony, who was arrested in 1872 for casting a ballot when women could not vote.

Trump announced the pardon at a White House event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment.

She was not a qualified voter at the time. There were other people not qualified to vote at the time. You may argue it was unfair, but that was the law at the time. What Trump is doing is saying vote fraud is o.k.

He should know better.

Taiwan, Covid, and the Thrall of Government Control

James Doogue

Left wing media in the thrall of increased government control of the public, are blind to long term implications of Covid-19 lockdowns.

'Taiwan Reaping Rare Economic Benefits Due To Its Successful Battle Against Covid-19'

Taiwan’s economy should grow 1.77% this year on the twin effects of stemming the spread of the coronavirus and an elaborate government stimulus program. A program a fraction of what was spent in Western countries, because Taiwan had no lock-down, just great quarantine, tracing, social distance and medical prevention and treatment. Measures which don't rely on the elimination of Covid-19. All measures we could implement in Australia now.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphjennings/2020/07/24/taiwan-reaping-rare-economic-benefits-of-its-successful-battle-against-covid-19/amp/

Meanwhile in Australia and New Zealand where we have lock-down zealots:

'Economies of Australia, New Zealand show coronavirus damage.
Australia's jobless rate surges to 19-year high while New Zealand's economy shrinks by the most since 1991.'

https://www.aljazeera.com/ajimpact/economies-australia-zealand-show-coronavirus-damage-200618055802939.html

And NZ Treasury Estimate GDP is around 37 percent lower during the period of alert level 4 than it would have been without any restrictions. This means a lockdown for one quarter would reduce quarterly GDP by 37 percent. Over four and a half weeks that equates to $10 billion of lost production, reducing annual GDP
by 3.2 percent. A massive hit on employment, investment, savings, and increased business failures and mental and physical health implications.

But Jacinda Adhern is a great leader? In a few years, analysts are going to wonder what the hell drove most of the West to shoot ourselves in the foot so willingly.

The failure to compare the most successful country in the world in dealing with Covid-19, Taiwan, with the much vaunted New Zealand approach is proof of the current deliberate blindness.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) hailed New Zealand as an example to others of how to implement successful lock-downs, but failed to mention Taiwan's more successful approach without total lock-downs.

Typical of the left wing media coverage of New Zealand's Jacinda Ardern is this headline:

'Three reasons why Jacinda Ardern’s coronavirus response has been a masterclass in crisis leadership'

Unsurprisingly this appeared in Australia's taxpayer and University funded hard left online publication, 'The Conversation', https://theconversation.com/three-reasons-why-jacinda-arderns-coronavirus-response-has-been-a-masterclass-in-crisis-leadership-135541

It was almost unbearable to read and showed a distinct lack of practical knowledge of the longer term implications of New Zealand's Covid-19 policy which is playing out now.

The goal of Covid-19 elimination means that New Zealand can never open their borders to anywhere that hasn't already achieved the same goal. It also means that if either they, or their partner in any bubble has a new case of community transmission, total lockdowns need to be implemented again.

This will be the case until an effective vaccine is not only developed, but forced on the entire population, with very few exceptions, year on year without exception.

It's hardly a 'masterclass' in leadership when you have a small country with one layer of government (no state governments with their own powers), and a fully compliant media. All you do is:

- Choose medical experts to tell the population Covid-19 is scarier than Ebola and will kill anyone.

- Encourage the on-board media to spread that message and promote your authoritarian dictates as the only sensible reaction. While funding millions of dollars in advertising to prop up your media friends.

- Along with your Draconian measures, announce a raft of government funding including welfare and grants to cover most sections of the community which might voice objection to your proposals, while not explaining to the citizenry the long term costs of your actions.

Let's compare the realities of New Zealand Vs Taiwan:

New Zealand small island nation thousands of miles away from China, Population
Total Cases: 1,622 or 324 per million
Total Deaths: 22 or 4 per million
New Cases 15 Aug 2020: 13

Taiwan small island nation neighbour to China, Population 23.8 million
Total cases: 482 or 20 per million
Total Deaths: 7 or 0.3 per million
New Cases 15 Aug 2020: 0

New Zealand has more than 16 times the proportion of Covid-19 cases compared to Taiwan, and more than three times the number of deaths. They had a total lock-down and have destroyed their economy. Taiwan have managed without a lockdown, saved their society and economy, and are not reliant on a vaccination strategy to open their economy.

Despite this obvious comparison which places Taiwan in a far more advantageous position to New Zealand, our media barely mentions Taiwan. Instead we have these mind numbing headlines from Australia's tax payer funded hard-left media monolith the ABC:

'New Zealand is facing new coronavirus cases but can the Ardern Government nail elimination twice?'
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-08-15/new-zealand-coronavirus-new-cases-elimination-ardern/12559070

If NZ achieved ELIMINATION, they wouldn't be needing to do it again! Does the ABC not have access to a dictionary?

Elimination: The complete removal or destruction of something.

LaPierre Responds

Timothy Birdnow

Wayne LaPierre responds to the attack on the NRA:

Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President

Dear NRA Member,

During my 40-plus years with your NRA, we’ve fought some tough and spirited battles.

We’ve beat back renegade anti-gun legislation, overcome villainous attacks on our collective character, and defeated deep-pocketed elitists trying to run roughshod over your constitutional freedoms.

But we’ve never seen anything like what is happening in New York.

Left wing politicians have cynically weaponized their legal and regulatory powers to try to take down our Association. As a result, the NRA recently filed a lawsuit against New York Attorney General (NYAG) Letitia James to confront her partisan campaign against the NRA.

Our lawsuit notes that, under the guise of protecting New York’s NRA members, the NYAG’s motive is nothing more than a gross misuse of regulatory power to undermine us as a political adversary.

In 2018, James infamously vowed to "target the NRA" and "investigate the legitimacy of the NRA as a charitable organization" while on the campaign trail, before spending even one day in office and without any evidence of compliance failures. She called us a "criminal enterprise” and a "terrorist organization.”

Therefore, it was no surprise when James undertook an investigation of the NRA immediately after assuming office.

And now, despite an avalanche of evidence regarding the financial stability of our Association, years of clean audits by independent CPAs, and commitment to good governance, James filed a legal action against the NRA. She seeks to dissolve our Association and force us to close its doors.

It’s all so pathetic. And predictable.

In fact, years ago, NRA board member Tom King was privately warned by then NYAG Eric Schneiderman that an attack was being engineered against the NRA. An "investigation” of our Association – from the highest levels of government – was on the horizon. That seems like a political nightmare that could only happen in a place where people live without our constitutional freedoms. But it happened right here – in America.

Having been through personal attacks and knowing that powerful billionaires and politicians were doggedly trying to raze the NRA, I took the Schneiderman forewarning seriously. I authorized an enterprise-wide review designed to improve our financial stability and ensure we could stand up to any scrutiny of our organization.

If there was any wrongdoing, I took swift, decisive action.

We terminated vendors and removed disgraced former partners and employees who abused the trust that was placed in them by the NRA. Many of these bad actors threatened me with a smear campaign, and then had the nerve to execute it when I would not succumb to their demands. I certainly paid a heavy price in the public arena.

These were hard but principled decisions. And I stand by every decision we’ve made in support of you, our members.

To be clear, the NYAG’s actions are an affront to democracy and freedom. This is an unconstitutiona l, premeditated attack aiming to dismantle and destroy the NRA, the fiercest defender of America’s freedoms.

As NRA President Carolyn Meadows observes, you could have set your watch by it: the NYAG "investigation” of the NRA was going to result in a lawsuit filed right as we began to shift into high gear for the 2020 election cycle.

It’s a transparent attempt to score political points and attack the leading voice in opposition to the leftist agenda. This is a naked power grab by a political opportunist, a desperate move that is part of a rank political vendetta.

If only it ended with the NYAG.

Politics Over Principles: Trying to Silence the NRA

The NYAG’s failing crusade follows an investigation of the NRA that began in 2017 by the New York State Department of Financial Services, who selectively pursued the NRA for its involvement in the Carry Guard insurance program.

The NRA never administered this insurance program – Lockton did. But that didn’t stop regulators trying to silence (and harm) a political foe.

An unbridled regulatory attack ensued. This was, in part, because the attack was being driven by the machinery of billionaire anti-gun activist Michael Bloomberg. It was at his urging that state regulators came after us – simply because he opposed our point of view.

That was followed by yet another campaign, as New York Governor Andrew Cuomo "blacklisted” financial institutions for doing business with the NRA. Imagine that, an elected official tries to strong-arm legitimate businesses simply because they associate with a law-abiding organization. The governor openly vowed to "put the NRA out of business.”

We filed a lawsuit against the governor and his state insurance regulator.

None other than the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) came to our side – recognizing that elected officials can’t abuse their power simply because they disagree with someone’s political point of view.

Above the objections of the governor, a court ruled in our favor. Our case will go forward.

I know many of you are following these fights, and you are as troubled as me that we have to have them.

But the NRA is well governed, financially strong, and committed to good governance. We will not back down during this time: this is our moment of truth.

Recognizing the partisan nature of New York’s anti-NRA campaign, the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) wrote, "Lawless liberals have hit a new low” and "the New York Attorney General is shamefully abusing her power to target a political adversary. This action is no different than what Democrats did during the shameful impeachment of President Trump: an attempt to use the levers of government to go after political opponents."

RAGA believes the American people can read the tea leaves of the NYAG lawsuit: "It is a partisan hit job aimed at empowering the mob and endangering law-abiding citizens, who respect the Second Amendment.”

It doesn’t matter if it is the First Amendment or the Second. These are your constitutional freedoms, and we will defend them with energy and passion. You have a right to free speech and free association with others who share your desire to preserve the right to keep and bear arms. These are the freedoms that define you … and define the spirit of America.

New York’s corrupt politicians sorely underestimate the spirit of the NRA. We are fighting back with the might of more than 5 million patriots.

There can be no place in our country for the rank behavior of elected officials who target enemies, violate public trust, and use their offices to fuel personal political ambition.

Let’s not allow Cuomo and James to weaponize government and turn this nation into a place where those in power can shut down any organization or silence any voice with which they disagree.

We need to fight back against this attack like we’re fighting for the Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, and our freedom, because it’s ALL on the line.

If we win this battle – and I’m confident with the continued support of our millions of members like you, we will win – you and I will score the biggest victory for freedom in the history of the NRA. We’ll make an everlasting mark on the Second Amendment and the First Amendment that will be remembered and revered for generations! We will save our freedom, and because of that, we will save America.

In New York and beyond, the NRA will keep fighting. We will always represent you – and the freedoms in which you believe.

To Letitia James and the other government officials who seek to dismantle the NRA, we say this: We’re ready for the fight. Bring it on!

Thanks for standing with us.

In Liberty,

Wayne LaPierre

The Wuhan Death Count

Timothy Birdnow

Statistician William Briggs gives us the scoop on how horribly deadly Covid 19 has been!

From the article:

....by Week 30, there were 1,667,277 total deaths in 2018, 1,659,227 in 2019, and 1,834,156 in 2020. Population increased about 1 million per year during this time (of citizens; illegals, who knows). So we’d expected roughly 30/52 * 1 million = 577 thousand more people by the 30th week each year. Population in 2018 was about 326.8 million by Week 30, and in 2019 it was 327.8 million, and it was about 328.2 million in 2020.

Thus the rate of dead to total bodies by Week 30 was: 0.510% in 2018, 0.506% in 2019, and 0.558% in 2020 (note the decimal point!). So even accounting for population increase (but possibly not illegals) we have a relative increase of anywhere from 9.5 to 10% more deaths for by Week 30, and an absolute increase anywhere from 0.048-0.052%. Crude estimates, of course.

Remind me how many people went out of business, lost their jobs, how much the government spent, and so on and so forth?...

The Faint Young Sun Paradox

This from Richard Cronin:

Initially, the Earth was very hot from the initial heat of compression due to planetary accretion. This is called the Hadean period and lasted from 4.6 to approx. 4.0 billion years ago.

It is known from stellar development that the Sun took about 3.0 billion years to grow into full luminosity, say from 4.6 to 1.6 billion years ago. This is called the Faint Young Sun period.

1.6 billion years ago was approx. the middle of the Pre-Cambrian and the time in which Oklo, Gabon contained about 15 separate active fission reactors due to the accumulation of fissile material.

During initial phases of the Faint Young Sun, the radiation received from the Sun was approx. 70 % of today. Ergo, the surface of the planet was covered in ice.

Carl Sagan and others identified the "Faint Young Sun Paradox”. Scientists have determined that radiogenic heat together with the heat of decompression would be still be too small to sustain liquid water.

The Earth was covered by great sheets of ice, yet bacterial life is thought to have formed approx. 3.5 to 3.8 billion years ago. Sagan et al could not figure out how life could begin that early if the Earth was frozen solid, with no liquid. The energy budget to sustain liquid water is satisfied by the GeoReactor.

As described by Robert J. Tuttle in "The Fourth Source, Effects of Natural Nuclear Reactors”, liquid water existed beneath the ice sheets and life began around nutrient-rich hydrothermal vents. Methane and longer chain hydrocarbons are produced from mineral reactions (abiotic hydrocarbons). The great sheets of ice protected nascent life from radiation and meteor bombardment on the surface.

The pH of ocean water is approx. 8.3. The pH of your blood is approx. 7.3. Our distant ancestors lingered just outside the scalding hot acidic plumes venting from hydrothermal vents.

How Many Would Have Died Anyway?

James Doogue

Perspective On Aged Care Covid-19 Deaths

Approximately 164 people died in aged care facilities in Australia every day from all causes. That's about 60,000 per year. The leading causes of death also happen to be the leading comorbidities for Covid-19.

In almost 7 months there have been 228 Covid-19 deaths in aged care facilities Australia-wide.

Before the current outbreaks in Victoria began, of the 71 aged care residents infected, 31 died and 40 recovered. That is, 44 per cent of infected residents didn't survive.

We could reasonably expect that 535 of the remaining 1,215 active cases of Covid-19 in aged care facilities, all in Victoria, will eventually die with the disease.

If ALL 1,215 active cases died with Covid-19 in the next 5 months, that would represent 2.4% of the 60,000 annual deaths in aged care facilities.

In that very unlikely event, Covid-19 would then rate equal 10th leading underlying cause of death in older people in aged care facilities. And that's assuming Covid-19 is the primary cause of death.

The way Covid-19 patients have been managed in aged care facilities has been largely incompetent, but the number of deaths does not warrant the media's characterisation of a major health crisis.

Combined with the fact 40% of aged care residents die within 9 months, we have to ask, how many of those dying in Aged care with Covid-19, would have died anyway?

People will think me cruel for asking the question. What I consider more cruel is that the Covid-19 and other aged care facility patients have been isolated from contact with family and friends during this pandemic.

Isolated not because of the disease, but due to the incompetence of the government-lead aged care sector to manage patients adequately, and the government's own overreaching lockdown actions.

See the Productivity Commissions End Of Life report released in March 2018 for deaths in aged care facilities.

Depending on the Meaning of the Word "Peaceful"

Timothy Birdnow

Here is what BLM "peaceful protests" look like.

They beat this man and his wife half to death. But the "protests" are "largely peaceful".

Fauci Out?

This from Richard Cronin:

Fauci sent back to the minor leagues. About time.

Even more than the climate change alarmists, Fauci has singlehandedly sullied the word "science” more than anyone I know.

Campaign Finance

Timothy Birdnow

In a recent post Joe Bastardi discussed the vast sums of money being poured in the Biden campaign and Trump's challenge in overcoming it. http://tbirdnow.mee.nu/trump_outraising_democrats

I pointed out:

This puts the lie to the polls claiming Trump is in trouble, imho.

Joe responded:

I disagree it means there may be no way he can win given that much big money backing, You think they are just going to let that investment go to waste? That figure is 10x what HRC had at this time

That does not mean I quit, You dont quit, no matter what, What it means is a realistic analysis of the situation explains alot of what is going on. And people dont throw that kind of money around with out expectation, But you think the average CNN voter, that prides themselves as being people oriented know that or the implications,

To which I respond:

That's certainly a logical way of looking at it Joe Bastardi. I do see your point. But Hillary had a lot of money backing her and she failed. I see it as saying they are dragging a horse with a broken leg.BUT your point is valid; at what point does the extra money overcome a bad candidate? Certainly they will run ads at a rate far higher than will President Trump. I remember the election of '96 when Clinton was running saturation ads and Dole was pretty much absent. Who even remembers Dole anymore? But Trump is a master of leveraging. But it is a huge deficit, for sure. My point, though is that Trump should be waay down and isn't. Given the amount of money being employed against him, that speaks volumes..
