Are some cultures superior?

Dana Mathewson

David P. Goldman, who writes under the pseudonym of Spengler, considers the matter. His thoughts may surprise you.

https://pjmedia.com/spengler/2017/08/30/are-some-cultures-superior/

A NOTE FROM TIM:

Cultural relativism is the bedrock of modern Liberalism, except they do not extend that relativism to our own culture i.e. they condemn America for things like slavery while ignoring the fact that slavery was a worldwide institution and everyone has dirty hands at some point. But WE are condemned for it while worse cultures are given a pass. Funny.

The argument liberals make si that cultures are all valid. Well, it is true they are logical in that conditions encountered by those cultures often explain certain things about them, but that does not make them merit respect. The Romans were clearly superior to the Carthaginians who practiced child sacrifice, even though the Romans were barbarians from a modern perspective. And as for logic, the Australian aborigines were bash their children's heads in when food became scarce. It made sense, but was it a moral thing? It was logical but hardly righteous.

The Soviet Union was clearly not the equal of the West. It didn't provide what the populace needed, and it repressed them horribly. But try telling that to a liberal, especially a young modern Bernie fan.

Who is on the Democrats' 2020 Bench?

Jack Kemp

Well, despite all their trash talking, it seems that when 2020 rolls around, the Democratic hopefulls will have to take a knee. It won't be because they are reluctant to stand for the National Anthem - it will be because their arthritis or gout will be acting up again. And their fundraising is drying up as well. Matt Vespa details this in a recent Townhall article below, but this situation was also dramatically years ago by Rocky and Bullwinkle when they went to Whatasamatta U. Starting at the 46 second mark and ending to the 1 mnute, 11 second mark, the situation Mr. Vespa describes is summarized in a nutshell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSJmXR6rOqY In fact, if you keep watching the video until the 1 minute, 51 second mark, you pretty much have a summary of the current problems at Mizzou U. (the University of Missouri).

Geezer World: Democrats Literally Have No One Under 55 Who Can Run In 2020

Matt Vespa

We know that the Democratic Party is in a total state of disarray. They’re struggling to fundraise, they have no leader, they can’t win elections, and they have no message. There are 1,000 fewer Democrats in office than there were in 2008-09. While the media and the Democratic Party fawned and gloated over Barack Obama’s election and re-election, the GOP quietly moved to hallow out the party from the ground up, which they’ve done. Republicans control 69/99 state legislatures and two-thirds of the governorships. Around half the states are under total GOP control, and that’s not including the White House and Congress. The GOP is the dominant political force in the country, but that won’t last forever. Democrats will find a way to win again, but as the Left looks to 2020, the impact of having less of a talent pool for candidates is explicitly clear. The state and local level supplies these candidates and the GOP has plenty of them. For Democrats, it’s a choice between geezer world and pre-school concerning candidates. The age difference spans decades, with notoriety being just as steep. One on hand we have former Vice President Joe Biden, while the other has Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. You don’t need a poll to know who is better known, but Biden will be pushing 80 by the next presidential election. In the search for a 2020 candidate who is under 55 that can be a national contender, even former Democratic National Committee chairman and Vermont Governor Howard Dean admits that no such person exists (via Politico):

Old but well-known vs. fresh but anonymous: That’s how the 2020 Democratic presidential field is shaping up so far — and it’s causing anxiety within a party starting to acknowledge that President Donald Trump could be harder to beat for reelection than the base would like to admit.
The older generation — Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders — would be tested and experienced on the national stage, with high name recognition and built-in support. They’d also all be in their 70s, people who’ve been around forever for Trump to use as perfect foils for exactly what he stands against.
Then there’s everyone else looking at a White House run who could embody a new start, separate from the Washington and political establishment that repel voters. But they’re virtually unknown, and they’d be running against the most famous man in the world who’s proved he can dominate every news cycle.
If only, Democrats say, there was some person under 55 who had any profile.
"That person doesn’t exist,” said Howard Dean, the 2004 presidential candidate and former Democratic National Committee chair.
Dean, who’s 68, is clear on which option he wants: "I have nothing against any of the people my age who will run, but I really do believe that if we’re going to appeal to the younger generation, we’ve got to change the party."
Add that to the long list of existential worries gripping the party, from losing white working-class voters, to not connecting anymore with huge numbers of voters Democrats used to assume were theirs, to seeing Republicans outraise, outmaneuver and outperform them in races that they can’t offer any rational reason for not winning.

The piece also noted more awkwardness within the home of the merciful rest candidate tour; Biden’s resume, while accomplished, is hardly what the base is yearning for outside of the Beltway. Second, it’s going to be odd if Garcetti and Biden run due to the close relationship they have. Both men have appeared or hosted each other's respective fundraising events.

Dana, I think the lady has a very viable case, even if it loses. She gets national fame and average people get to hear the argument against CNN rabble-rousing. And she might win a 5-4 Supreme Court decision. As one politician says, "You can't shout 'wolf' in a crowded theater.

And the MSM had just better suck it up and get used to it! Of course, they won't. But if they want to quote the governors, they'll have to get it right.

For Want of a Spine

Dana Mathewson

Lyrics from a 14th century nursery rhyme encouraged children to apply the art of logical progression to the consequences of their actions or inactions. It needs be heeded today in dealing with the North Korea nuclear threat.

"For Want of a Nail” is a journey down the road of causal connection:

For want of a (horseshoe) nail, the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe, the horse was lost.
For want of a horse, the rider was lost.
For want of a rider, the message was lost.
For want of the message, the battle was lost.
For want of the battle, the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

As President Donald Trump and North Korea’s "Incredible Bulk” leader, Kim Jong-un, exchange nuclear threats, we hear a chorus of experts who, out of frustration, suggest our inability to prevent Pyongyang from obtaining a nuclear arsenal should focus our efforts instead upon deterring it from using such weapons.

The most recent high-profile voice making this case is President Barack Obama’s former national security adviser, Susan Rice.

Acknowledging that Obama’s North Korea foreign policy was a failure – as well as that of his two predecessors – Rice urges Trump, in a New York Times op-ed, to tolerate Pyongyang’s violation of international promises and regulations "the same way we tolerated the far greater threat of thousands of Soviet nuclear weapons during the Cold War.”

Rice’s ostrich-like, head-in-the-sand mentality explains why much of Obama’s foreign policy was a failure. The Obama-Rice team was simply unable to apply logical progression to its end point.

Rice’s op-ed contains fatal flaws that can prove lethal to our security if followed by Trump.

I daresay the 14th Century children in the nursery understood the situation better than Obama and Rice. Let's hope Trump and his people do, too. I'm sure Bolton does.

Wouldn't "honest mistakes" result in an equal number of false warming and cooling readings? And yet, these "honest mistakes" always seem to show the planet is warming. Odd that.

Bill to Beat the U.N.

Bill Been

Tom DeWeese has been an instrumental leader in the fight to expose and defeat Agenda 21 and its UN base. Many of us believe that the ultimate struggle for our sovereignty depends on distancing America from the UN and its dictates. If you agree, please consider Tom’s request for support involving H.R. 193.

You and I both know the United Nations is the greatest threat to freedom in the world. In fact, it’s a tyrannical global threat.

* Agenda 21.
* The destruction of our public schools.
* Massive government corruption.
* Attacks on the free enterprise system.
* Social engineering.
* Propping up brutal dictators.
* And much more…

Yet our government continues to treat the UN like a sacred cow. Immune from criticism. Protected. The very idea of doing away with the UN is not even a question to be considered in today’s political debates.

As a result of this coddling of the UN too many people in this country still believe that the UN is vital to protect us from wars and poverty.

Of course the exact opposite is true. Since the UN was created we have had more wars than any time in history. And we have more poor every day.

It’s the UN’s fault!
I have to tell you very bluntly – I am sick of it!
And I know you are, too.
Do you want to do something about it? I have an idea. And it’s dramatic!
Picture this:

The U.S. Congress is holding a hearing on the UN to consider if our nation should end its membership.

What if there were several experts to testify – detailing the dangers of the UN! Exposing how the UN is a massive fraud that forces its global agenda on nations; creates poverty and suffering in the world; and wastes billions of dollars every year as it gives power to dangerous despots and terrorists.

Can you imagine the impact that would have across the nation?
But…you say… it will never happen!
I disagree. In fact, I think the timing has never been better!
Let me explain why I think this is true.
We have a major tool to help us get those dramatic hearings.

Congressman Mike Rogers from Alabama has introduced H.R. 193, the American Sovereignty Restoration Act. This bill calls for ending American membership in the United Nations.

This Bill is our chance to demand those hearings and expose the UN.

H.R. 193 has been sent to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

It’s the duty of the Foreign Affairs Committee to consider the bill and pass it on to the full House for a vote. It is in this committee where our hearing can and should be heard!

With enough pressure we can force the committee to hold the hearings.

Will you help me make that happen? Here’s how.

I have enclosed a special document. It’s called the "Citizen’s Appeal for Legislative Consideration.” This document calls on the Committee on Foreign Affairs to hold the hearings.

Will you please sign your copy of the Appeal? I need thousands of these quickly. So, if you can also share this email with friends and family - perhaps your local Tea Party group – we can make this happen.
SEND YOUR CITIZEN’S APPEAL FOR LEGISLATIVE CONSIDERATION

Let me level with you.

The reason bills like H.R. 193 rarely get any attention in Congress is because our side doesn’t apply pressure on Members of Congress. But the other side does. They pile on the phone calls and letters and make certain Congress won’t even consider any idea like getting out of the UN.

But things are a bit different right now in Washington – perhaps you’ve noticed. President Trump is fighting this left wing establishment with everything he has. He has even demanded that we cut our UN payments by 50%.

It’s been a long time since we had a President this determined to put Americans first. Now is our chance to get rid of our greatest threat – the UN.

Congressman Rogers has taken a brave step forward for us by introducing H.R 193. He even has 7 co-sponsors of the Bill – each willing to stand up against the UN.

These co-sponsors include Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona; Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina; Rep. Jason Smith of Missouri; Rep. Jimmy Duncan of Tennessee; Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida; Rep. Raul Labrador of Idaho; and Rep. Alex Mooney of West Virginia.

If any of these Representatives are from your state please send them a note and thank them.

But the news is even better.

The House committee on Foreign Affairs has 26 Republicans and 21 Democrats
serving on it.

These include Rep. Jeff Duncan from South Carolina and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher
from California.

I know both of these Representatives and can tell you they are two of the most conservative and pro-American Members serving in Congress.

If you and I can raise enough of a ruckus by putting strong pressure on the Foreign Affairs Committee, then I know Rep. Duncan and Rep. Rohrabacher will lead the way to assure the right questions are asked and the truth will be exposed to the American people.

Image how dramatic that will be!

You and I can make it happen. But we must act today while the "iron is hot” as they say.

First, please help me send thousands of these "Citizen’s Appeal for Legislative Consideration” to Committee Chairman Ed Royce’s to demand that he schedule a hearing on H.R. 193.
SEND YOUR CITIZEN’S APPEAL FOR LEGISLATIVE CONSIDERATION
d
Second, along with this email I have included the names of all of the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Please call and/or write to each of them to demand hearings on the American Sovereignty Restoration Act.

America needs to know the truth about the UN. The Congress needs to fully discuss the details of this bill and expose the danger and corruption of the United Nations.

Bill, will you please help me lead this effort and get thousands more of these documents signed to apply maximum pressure on the Committee?

Your contribution to my American Policy Center (APC) is vital to help me do that. If you can send as much as $100, $50, or even $25 it will make an incredible difference in my ability to fight. But whatever amount, I need it today.

We can win this fight and pass this vital legislation. I know for a fact that the majority of the American people do not support the United Nations.

Let me tell you why I know that.

Just a few years ago I worked side by side with Congressman Ron Paul to pass his version of the American Sovereignty Restoration Act.

APC generated over one million petitions. We even sponsored a Capitol Hill News conference that featured Rep. Paul and was carried live on CSPAN. Several other major organizations joined my efforts to pass the bill. I was even invited to England to debate the UN issue before a 200-year-old debating society at Cambridge University.

As our campaign grew polls were taken showing that more than 60% of Americans wanted us out of the UN.

What happened? The 9/11 attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center. Congress panicked and all of our hard work was lost.

Now you and I have a new chance to win the fight. We have a President who opposes the UN and would surely sign H.R 193.
SEND YOUR CITIZEN’S APPEAL FOR LEGISLATIVE CONSIDERATION

Forward
England has shocked the world by leaving the European Union – sending shock waves to the UN as Globalism is finally coming under attack.

That’s why now is our time to strike.

As I said in my debate at Cambridge, "The United Nations is not ‘dysfunctional’ as some ‘reformists’ have claimed. It is a criminal enterprise in which no moral nation should ever participate, let alone perpetuate.
Help me force Congress to hold the hearings that will reveal the truth!
