Abraham Lincoln's Thanksgiving Proclamation

Washington, D.C.

October 3, 1863

By the President of the United States of America.

A Proclamation.

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequalled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the Eighty-eighth.

By the President: Abraham Lincoln

William H. Seward,
Secretary of State

The Frightened god of the Elites

Timothy Birdnow

Here is an interesting article about the New World Order and how the Establishment uses "constructive destruction" to advance it's goals and power. Author Brandon Smith makes the point that:

"What perhaps does not come to mind very often though are the institutions and structures that provide the "stability" by which our society is able to continue in a predictable manner. While many of these institutions are not built with the good of the public in mind, they often indirectly secure a foundation that can be relied upon, for two or three generations, while securing power for the establishment. The problem is, the establishment is never satisfied with a static or semi-peaceful system for very long. They are not satisfied by being MOSTLY in control, they seek total control. Thus, they are often willing to create chaos and crisis and even tear down old structures that previously benefited them in order to gain something even greater (and more oppressive for the rest of us)."

End excerpt.

In many ways Smith is right; the liberal establishment seeks power through chaos. more...

Why America should give thanks

Timothy Birdnow

There are many reasons America should give thanks to Almighty God. Blessed with great natural resources, America has also been blessed with a special kind of protection from God.

It has been attributed to Bismark;

"There is a special providence for drunkards, fools, and the United States of America." although no evidence can be found he said this. However the Portuguese philosopher, scientist,  and statesman José Francisco Correia da Serra aka Abbey  Correa once mentioned "the special providence over the United States and little children” and it has clearly been thus. America has been uniquely blessed, from the miracle at Plymouth to Washington's incredible good luck at Yorktown to our fortune in the balancing off of European powers leading to our expansion via the Louisiana Purchase and other such, to our surprise victory over Mexico (everyone thought they would win) to our growth as an industrial power and eventually military behemoth. Always the Hand of God was visible.

And that despite some monumentally boneheaded stupidity on the part of this country. I mean, who goes to war with Britain in 1812? That would be like Panama declaring war on us now.

So we have always had much reason to give thanks. And this year we have more reason than most; Hillary Clinton, the sure win in the 2016 election, the smartest woman in the world with the most moral husband (as James Carville once said of Bill Clinton), the woman who gave us Whitewater, Filegate, Travelgate, Lewinskygate, Bimbo Eruption Squads, Cattlegate, the sale of the Lincoln Bedroom, the sale of political favors to the Chinese and Indonesians, Benghazi, the Russian reset button, the Iran deal, Uranium One, and a host of others I do not have space to mention, lost the presidency, despite massive vote fraud in her favor and overwhelming financial advantage. (How's that for a run-on sentence!)

Whether one likes Donald Trump or not, it is unquestionably better to have him than Hillary Clinton, who would have appointed a sizable chunk of the judiciary and would have seen the completion of America's journey to the Dark side aka Socialism.

The miracle in November, and the continued miracle of Trump's survival, can only be attributed to the protector of drunks and little children - and this odd land of ours.

We owe every thanks to God Almighty for stopping the Clinton beast from devouring this nation.

God bless us every one.

Charlie Rose means it's Time to Ween Elmo

Timothy Birdnow

PBS and NPR are publicly funded broadcast networks that have been solidly left wing and anti-American over the years. Both have taken our money and used it to insult us and falsify news. For decades Conservatives have sought to defund the wretched entities.

Now we know that their big gun, the Harvey Wallbanger of Public Television, Charlie Rose, is a serial lecher.

Isn't this the time to finally stop giving our hard earned dollars to finance this criminal enterprise?  Maybe if PBS had had to compete in the market they would have gotten rid of Rose as a liability, and the women he molested would not have been bothered.

If the Left were serious about their defense of women they would accept this premise. Rose and people like him get away with it in citadels of liberalism where their friends protect them. They would never pull it off in the marketplace.

Time to pull the plug on PBS. Time to fry up Big Bird, kick Oscar the Grouch out of his garbage can (he's a typical liberal welfare recipient type, after all, angry while living on the taxpayer dime) and shut off the power at The Electric Company (make 'em use solar panels, says I).  It's not like these shows won't be around - at least not if they really are as popular as PBS has pretended them to be. Free markets always reward quality.

Time for Elmo to stop suckling at that Transgendered Uncle Sam/Aunt Samantha's teet!

George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation

October 3, 1789

"Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor, and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

"Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks, for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation, for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war, for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed, for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

"And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions, to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually, to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed, to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord. To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and Us, and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

"Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789."

Commodore Levy and Jefferson's Monticello

Jack Kemp

I got a surprise mailing today from the Thomas Jefferson Foundation which runs his home, Monticello, in Virginia. I once visited the museum in a bus tour and must have given them my name and address. It was there that I learned about the long time family owners of the property.

The third owner of the Jefferson home, for over a generation, was Uriah Phillips Levy, a Sephardic Jew who was the first Jewish Commodore of the U.S. Navy. He is responsible for outlawing flogging (with a whip) of sailors. From his family the property passed to the Jefferson Foundation which runs it today. Commodore Levy's mother is buried on the grounds of Monticello.

Uriah Phillips Levy

Uriah Phillips Levy(1792-1862), U.S. naval officer and third owner of Monticello after Thomas Jefferson's death, is one of the great characters in American Jewish history. He was pugnacious, determined, eccentric, confirmed in the righteousness of his causes, an able businessman who was quite wealthy, and an admirer of Thomas Jefferson. His admiration rested on Mr. Jefferson's well-deserved reputation as a champion of religious liberty—not toleration, but liberty. "I consider Thomas Jefferson to be one of the greatest men in history," Levy declared, "the author of the Declarationand an absolute democrat. He serves as an inspiration to millions of Americans. He did much to mold our Republic in a form in which a man'sreligion does not make him ineligible for political or governmental life."1Levy's admiration for Jefferson first expressed itself in a unique gift that the lieutenant made to the government and the people of the United States. "There is no statue to Jefferson in the Capitol inWashington," he wrote,"As a small payment for his determined stand on the side of religious liberty, I am preparing to commission a statue."2 And the statue, in its way, led to Monticello.

The Uncreating of the American Mind

Timothy Birdnow

Our friend and contributor William Been sent me an editorial by Tom DeWeese about the inability of the young to think. DeWeese argues that the Left has purposely dumbed down American kids, making them incapable of thinking - as opposed to feeling - and that this is intended to break the "chain of contagion as it were, of American culture and tradition. I believe DeWeese is correct.

Read the article here.

Deweese also includes a lecture given by a law professor in Alabama where he makes it plain to his students they have been sorely miseducated and will have to learn to think before they can become educated in the Law.

I absolutely agree with DeWeese.

Thought for the Day

Wil Wirtanen

Something hit me today, we are being governed based on the lowest common denominator of society.

Because someone does not act responsibility, our all-knowing politicians make laws to restrict my freedom all in the name "it could happen”.

So as society gets more reckless, I end up having to suffer the hassles to make sure that "it won’t happen”.

David Brooks says Moore's Christian Backers Guilty of Heresy

Jack Kemp

Who died and elected him Pope?

David Brooks a Jew and a NY Times "house(broken) conservative," now thinks he has the authority to pass religious judgement against Christians who support Judge Roy Moore.

I have this to say to David Brooks, the same thing I said on the Aviary website when Carl Bernstein wrote a few years back about what the new Pope's qualifications should be.

David Brooks, "Guy kaken en yam." That's Yiddish for "Go take a s**t in the ocean." You have NO qualifications here to interpret correct Christian doctrine.

David Brooks on PBS: Roy Moore's Christian Backers Guilty of 'Heresy' and 'Idolatry'

By Tim Graham | November 18, 2017 7:19 PM EST
They began the week-in-review segment on Friday’s PBS NewsHour with the Al Franken groping scandal, and both liberal Mark Shields and pseudoconservative David Brooks felt that Franken’s offense was minor compared to the Roy Moores and Bill Clintons…and Donald Trumps.
Brooks repeated his recent Charlie Roseline that Clinton’s impunity in these matters in the 1990s created a hostile environment for all women – and then added a new spin for "balance.” Christian defenders of Roy Moore at this point are practicing "idolatry" and are simply "heretics,”

One from Martha's priest friend

Very interesting, considering he is one of the
Anglican Ordinariate, a married priest himself. I figured I'd start with something other than politics -- or Charles Manson.

Franken a Weapon for Media Trump Bashing

Dana Mathewson

Of course. Why even bring it up, otherwise?

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/11/17/how-left-used-al-franken-to-bash-president-trump-after-initially-downplaying-senator-s-harassment.html

But REALLY -- the President was accused of raping a child? I do NOT remember that, I really don't. Aren't they confusing Trump with Bill Clinton or Teddy Kennedy? And between 16 and 19 women claiming he molested them? Which is it? I think there is some serious fantasy going on here. Which is usual in liberal-land.

Never mind. It's all a ploy to waste the President's time and energy.

Jonathan Dickinson comments:

Since Manson has died I thought I'd break out this quote I've had on my computer for years. Bernadine Dohrn, Bill Ayers' sweetie and confidante and mentor to a future president of the United States (and his wife) once said this to a group of her friends in the Weatherman organization about the Tate/LaBianca murders:

"Dig it: first they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into the victim’s stomach. Wild!”

Mr. Mathewson replies:

There are some seriously sick people in the world, and it really seems as if a large proportion of them are connected to the Democrats.

Frankengroper and Stolen Senate Seats

Dana Mathewson

From Power Line.

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2017/11/did-tweedens-reticence-cost-coleman-his-senate-seat.php

The final paragraph [with my emphasis]:
If Minnesota had adequate voter integrity laws, none of this would have mattered. Long after the fact,it was demonstratedthat at least 1,099 felons voted illegally in the Coleman-Franken election, no doubt the vast majority for Franken. Many other illegal votes were cast for Franken as well, e.g. by non-citizens. The role of voter fraud in electing Al Franken, and thereby passing Obamacare, helps to explain why Democrats hysterically oppose voter ID and all other measures intended to minimize election fraud.

Iran Declares Victory over ISIS

Timothy Birdnow

Iran has claimed victory over the Islamic State in an echoe of the Afghani "victory" claim over the Russians after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan back in the eighties.

According to Reuters:

"ranian President Hassan Rouhani declared the end of Islamic State on Tuesday in an address broadcast live on state TV.

A senior commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Major General Qassem Soleimani, also declared the end of Islamic State in a message sent to the country’s supreme leader Tuesday which was published on Sepah News, the news site of the Guards."

End excerpt.

It has primarily been American efforts that have driven ISIS into the ground in the region, not Iran's or Syrias. Just as American aid helped the Afghanis drive the Soviets out but the Mujihadeen believed it was their efforts alone and that they precipitated the Soviet collapse (ignoring tbe billions of dollars the U.S. spent and the hideously expensive policies of Containment and MutualAssured Destruction which bankrupted the Soviet Union) so too Iran is claiming credit for wrecking ISIS. Talk about delusions of grandeur!

We've had a number of opportunities with Iran and blew it. During the Obama era there was an uprising, a color revolution that stalled because the BHO wouldn't give any support to it. He was quick to overthrow allies like Hosni Mubarak in Egypt or even Moammar Khadafi in Libya but would not bother to lift a finger to assist in overthrowing the terrorists in Tehran. Prior to that George W. Bush could have taken the war into Iran rather than doing a minimalist action in Iraq, thus allowing the Iranians to flood the borders with every thug who wanted to fight for Allah. Bush and his people had a terrible policy, thinking that they could perform a limited surgery on the patient and that somehow the "yearning to be free" of people would do the rest. They assumed American values were universalist traits. They were wrong and Iran continues to be the apocalyptic hand on the trigger of history.

ISIS was evil and deserves to be destroyed. I fear we may regret the way it happened, and what will follow in it's place.

Charles Manson Rots in Hell; a Thoroughly Modern Liberal

Timothy Birdnow

Hell has reclaimed one of it's own.

Charles Manson died peacefully in bed. It is a sad thing, as so many would wish to see him suffer in the end. But bear in mind where he's going the fires are quenched not and the worm dieth not. He's going to suffer, and forever.

Manson was fascinating because he was so unrepentently evil, so comfortable with total darkness. Manson was as close to the Devil as one is likely to witness in this world. He certainly won't be missed.

Manson was the personification of the evils of America herself, of the rising tide of leftism that has come to fruition her e in this country, a rebellion against God. He was in many ways a a thoroughly modern man, a god unto himself and a rebel against the fundamental order. A man who rejected decency because none was in him. A sexual predator and murderer. A guy who had adopted all that was coming to a country near you.

I find it interesting that sexual abuse is all the rage now, that the media and liberals are on a crusade to stamp it out at this moment; Manson represented the triumph of the sexual revolution, and his murderous nature was a function of his sexual degeneracy. The Left picked the lock on human passions, and the end result was Manson and others of his ilk, men governed by their animal and barbaric natures. Harvey Weinstein did not arise in a vacuum, and neither did Manson; both are children of the "if it feels good, do it" belief system of the liberals.

Manson was just honest enough to do what leftists do on the sly all the time, and was equally unapologetic.

Oh, I know; most liberals don't kill people. But they DO destroy them on a regular basis, with lies, with innuendo, with the politics of personal destruction. Manson just dispatched with the underhanded aspects and went straight for the throat. Many leftists would love to do that but lack the courage.

Maybe Manson's death will signal the dying of this pagan ideology that has caused so much suffering and destruction over the decades. Let us hope we can put the liberal revolution in an unmarked grave along with Manson.

Trump's Next Scotus Pick Should Be

Timothy Birdnow

Looks Like Anthony Kennedy, the unstable fence straddling urist who gave us gay marriage in violation of Nature and Nature's God is looking to call it quits after over two decades of mindless legal drooling. The geriatric justice is, at age 81, no longer able to remember where to go to the bathroom much less legal precedent, and so soon Donald J. Trump may get to appoint a replacement, one without false teeth.

Here is a list of five namesx that Trump is considering to replace Kennedy.

(I do hope they sanitize his seat first, as I suspect his Depends have leaked over the years and it wouldn't be cricket to make a junior Justice sit in his filth.)

I would like to propose a sixth name. Drumroll, please....Roy Moore! Moore was twice Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and has been a top lawyer his entire life. If Mitch "the bitch" McConnell is unwilling to allow Moore to take a Senate seat then perhaps Trump should put him on the bench.

Wouldn't that be fun! Maybe Moore can lug his giant stone Ten Commandments plaque with him.

Why are Sex Scandals Exploding Now?

Timothy Birdnow

I was chatting online with Dana Mathewson and we were discussing the sex abuse scandals that are currently breaking. At first I thought it was a way to get Trump but now I think the Left  has even bigger fish to fry . I started thinking about the end game with this, and it occurs to me that they experimented with what they want in colleges with civil disciplinary boards. I'll bet the plan is to create a bureaucratic system similar to the EEOC where women can charge men with sexual assault but not have the burden of proof that is required in a court of law. It would be the ultimate power grab, a fundamental realignment of American jurisprudence. If they could get such a thing they will own the political landscape, because anybody who caused problems for liberals would be subject to trumped up charges that would then be assumed to be true by the civilian board, which would then have legal power to punish and thus take out anybody the Left doesn't like. All these sex scandals - particularly the ones about to break in Congress - could be used to justify this. I don't know if SCOTUS would declare it unconstitutional or not, but clearly any Obama appointee to any court would give their blessing to such a law passed by Congress.

As I say, it would basically work the way it does on college campuses today. That was their laboratory. No court has ever ruled against this at the college level, even where it is a state college and taxpayer funded.

I see no flaw in my logic here.  Anyone have reason to think I am wrong? One thing we should all have learned over the years is that the media does nothing by chance and liberals are not motivated by moral conscience but by political strategy. It is especially true when they are willing to give up some of their own; it means they are working on a major initiative.

This bears reflection.

Former VP Al Gore copes with polluted image as divorce and alleged scandal makes headlines

To many, including one licensed massage therapist in Oregon, Nobel Prize winner Al Gore was "Mr. Smiley Global Warming Concern" - a pure-of-heart environmental hero.
Now the globe-trotting, do-gooding Gore is catching a lot of heat - with none of it related to global warming.
Gore is dealing with some inconvenient truths - and a few ugly rumors - since the end of his marriage was followed by suggestions of sexual scandal.
The high-profile activist typically profiled in magazines like The New Yorker was suddenly splashed across the front page ofThe National Enquirer.
"AL GORE SEX ATTACK!" howled the Enquirer's front page, referring to a purported 2006 incident with the masseuse in an Oregon hotel suite.

[...]

The red-headed masseuse - who said she voted for Gore in the 2000 presidential race - detailed his alleged transformation from statesman to "crazed sex poodle" during a late-night massage in his hotel suite.

"He had a dramatic display of violent temper as well as extreme dictatorial commanding attitude besides his Mr. Smiley Global Warming Concern persona," the woman says in a 67-page transcript of her interview with police.

San Joes to shut down 2 churches selling pot

San Jose moves to shut down two churches selling marijuana.

San Jose is about to crack down on two churches that apparently are selling marijuana despite not having permits to do so, Councilwoman Devora "Dev” Davis said Monday.

In an email, Davis told the Resident that the city attorney’s office "is preparing to take court action to shutdown both illegal dispensaries.” She was referring to Coachella Valley Church at 2142 The Alameda and Oklevueha Native American Church of South Bayat 265 Meridian Ave.
