Yes, Trump CAN Win

Timothy Birdnow

Look at this tripe:

Trump Has Zero Shot At Winning The Most Important Election In History
townhall.com

I disagree. Trump can win provided he is on the ballot everywhere - and the GOP gives him some support.

First off, Donald Trump won move votes than any person in American history in 2020. This cannot be stressed enough, as most of these Never Trump types fail to understand the implcations of Trump's numbers. In Ronald Reagan's 1980 landslide victory over Jimmy Carter he won with 43,904,153 votes. Donald Trump received 74 million (roughly) in 2020. Granted, the population ahs increased by a third (we've added a whopping HUNDRED MILLION, which should scare the daylights out of us) but even so that is still less than the fifteen-some-odd million that Reagan would have won if we adjust for population growth. That is a staggering amount of votes.

And there were only 43 million registered Republicans in America as of 2020. So Trump won 31 million independents. IF we assume independents are the key to electoral success then we must admit that Mr. Trump has made great inroads into that critical demographic.

Biden won 53% or 54% of independent voters in two key swing states he carried – Georgia and Wisconsin, but we know full well there was considerable fraud in those states and it was just barely enough to push Biden over the top. (In point of fact the popular vote across the nation was ridiculous; Biden didn't campaign and yet won 81 million votes.)

The pandemic protocols are the only reason Biden won in 2020; mail-in voting meant at best Biden received a lot of votes from voters who wouldn't bother to show up at the polls otherwise. And it was ripe for fraud, as the Carter-Baker Commission had warned after the election of 2000.

And what of 2018? The media and the RINO Republicans always bring this up. But the fact remains that there was no blue wave (which was something expected as the GOP was defending more seats than the Democrats) as of the next moring. But the Democrats doggedly counted and counted and ballots magically appeared until no fewer than 14 House seats flipped after election day. Not on, but some weeks later.

This was a.expected and b.more a testament to the failure of the GOP to move Mr. Trump's agenda forward.

At any rate Trump can't really be blamed for that but the GOP, desperate to get back to "business as usual" did in fact try to blame him.

And they have tried to blame Trump for '22, even though he was not on the ballot and had at most limited influence over the elections. It should occur to people that the problem lay with the Republican Party as opposed to Donald Trump. For example, a lot of money was poured into elections in places like New England and pulled from MAGA candidates who could have won.

It should also be pointed out the Democrats outspent the GOP ten to one in many places, which is a function of their corporate shakedown tactics as well as their billionaire funding - and the fact the GOP voted for numerous slush fund-style "recovery" spending which undoubtedly was laundered back to the DNC.

The fact is there has been a wing of the GOP who refused to accept Trump and MAGA and did it's level best to purge them both from the party. Mich McConnell comes to mind. He did everything he cuold to hurt Trump while Mr. Trump was in office.

Now none of this speaks to the upcoming elections, so let's address that. After the last election no fewer than a million people left the Democrats and joined the GOP. That's huge. If Trump were so unpoular they wouldn't have done that. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/election-2022-party-switchers_n_62b9ad0ee4b06594c1e76604 Notice this is the liberal Huffington Post, not Breitbart reporting. This wouldn't happen if Trump were so unpopular. These people know he's the standard bearer.

The GOP actually has picked up Latino and Black voters steadily since Trump was in office, and the '22 election was no different. Why, if Trump is so despised? Trump did very well among Latinos in '22 https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-house/trumps-surprise-breakthrough-with-the-hispanic-vote and he is still improving those gains. https://marketresearchfoundation.org/2022/03/29/trump-leads-biden-and-all-other-candidates-with-hispanics-in-this-2024-poll/

And Trump beats Biden in any number of polls even now. A Premise poll of registered voters conducted Aug. 2-7 shows former President Donald Trump beating President Joe Biden, 42% to 38%, forinstance. https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/premise-poll-trump-biden/2023/08/09/id/1130174/ Most mainstream media polls show them in a dead heat at worst - and that with Trump under all these indictments. See also https://nypost.com/2023/07/22/trump-dominates-gop-field-beating-biden-in-general-election-poll/ and back in May https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4012722-trump-beats-biden-by-7-points-in-hypothetical-2024-matchup-poll/

No other candidate comes this close. And Trump was always well behind in 2016, and even 2020.

The question is who would we replace Trump with? Nobody comes as close, nor generates the enthusiasm, nor raises the money like Trump. He is still exciting and recognizable. Does anyone think Tim Scott or Nikki Haley could do better? And of course the media has been laying off of all the candidates except Trump; they know who their real enemy is and who poses an existential threat.

How many of these others will survive the attacks the media can level against them? Trump already has and they are largely out of ammunition, which is why they had to cross the rubicon and prosecute the man. That was and remains an act of sheer desperation.

Put a new guy in there and he'll be creamed. It's easy to attack a new guy who hasn't been through this. The public will listen; they just tune out attacks against Trump.

I think Trump is pretty much the only option. Nobody else can win against the rigged system (and Trump may not be able to overcome the rigged system either, but he has the best shot.) The Democrats created "the most comprehensive and inclusive vote fraud machine in history" as Joe Biden admitted in a moment of candor before the '20 election. That was why Biden seemed unconcerned and didn't bother to campaign; he knew the fix was in.

Claiming "Trump can't win" and acting as if those who still believe he can are somehow hypnotized mind-numbeed robots is disingenuous at best and downight vile at worst. It is the old guard of the GOP trying to reclaim their power in the Party. They have hated Trump and all the yahoos he brought in with him worse than the Democrats, with which they could deal. BTW they hated Reagan just as bad back then and said he couldn't win either.

BTW I supported Ted Cruz in the 2016 primary and pretty much despised Donald Trump, who to me was a braying jackass (and largely sitll is) who I believed was promoted by the RINO wing to deny Cruz or Rubio by splitting the vote. Trump proved far better than I expected. Not as conservative or ideological as I like but he tried to keep his word (with the Republicans resisting him at every turn) and he cared about what the folks in Middle America wanted - and he cared about the Constitution. He could easily have overridden state governments when it suited him on occasion (as in the BLM protests) but didn't do it out of respect for Federalism. I'd rather have a guy who keeps his word than the most brilliant, eloquent, ideologically conservative hero who then knifes us in the back.

Censoring Fat Bottomed Girls

Timothy Birdnow

A "child-friendly" site has left off the light-hearted "fat bottom girls" from the Best of Queen album.

Now Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury once pranced about in a diaper on stage, and his band regularly dressed in drag. Mercury died of AIDS, I might add, the result of promiscious homosexuality.

This snowflake mentality is out of control. This was inevitable when they started pushing "self-esteem" in the eighties.

Now we consider good-natured ribbing obscene and sexual deviancy moral. The world has turned upside-down.

The song was particularly funny as it was paired with "Bicycle Race", and the vision of obese women peddling around on bikes made everyone smile at the time.

Here are the lyrics to FBG:

Are you gonna take me home tonight?
Oh, down beside that red firelight?
Are you gonna let it all hang out?
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rocking world go around

[Verse 1]
Hey, I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew life before
I left my nursery, huh
Left alone with big fat Fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Hey, big woman
You made a bad boy out of me
Hey, hey, woo!

[Verse 2]
I've been singing with my band
Cross the water, cross the land
I've seen every blue-eyed
Floozy on the way, hey
But their beauty and their style
Went kinda smooth after a while
Take me to them dirty ladies every time
Come on

And just to for the fun of it, I'd like to post up the lyrics of Jethro Tull's song "Fatman":

Don't want to be a fat man
People would think that I was just good fun, man
Would rather be a thin man
I am so glad to go on being one, man

Too much to carry around with you
No chance of finding a woman who
Will love you in the morning and
All the nighttime too

[Ad-lib with instrumental]

[Verse 2]
Don't want to be a fat man
Have not the patience to ignore all that
Hate to admit to myself
I thought my problems came from being fat, man

Won't waste my time feeling sorry for him
I've seen the other side through being thin
Roll us both down a mountain and I'm sure
The fat man would win

The Return of the Swastika

Timothy Birdnow

The rising Fascism is not just limited to the U.S.

In Brazil, former President Bolsonaro is under legal pressure; and likely will be arrested and charged with crimes for daring to resist the cabal of internationalist socialists.

From the Bloomberg article courtesy of Yahoo:

"Police have raided his home. He has testified to authorities on four separate occasions. Some of his closest allies have been arrested. And late Thursday, local news outlets reported that a top judge granted investigators access to his bank and tax records.

Brazil’s electoral authority barred the right-wing former leader from seeking public office for eight years in June. Now Bolsonaro’s growing legal problems have raised the prospect that he may ultimately face arrest and jail time.

The 68-year-old former army captain, who spread conspiracies about vote fraud throughout last year’s election, is facing investigations over whether he played a role in Jan. 8 riots in Brasilia, when supporters stormed major government buildings in an apparent effort to overturn his defeat to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva."

End excerpt.

So he joins Donald Trump and Bebe Netanyahu in being pursued by the long arm of the lawless.

The international Left is determined to wipe out any vestiges of patriotism and the old order, and will stop at nothing to do so.

Hawaiian Fires and Laser Weapons

Timothy Birdnow

This is interesting.

Carlos Velazquez tells me Twiter, er, X has been abuzz with talk saying the Maui fires were started by government testing of direced energy weapons, which they informed the Hawaiian government of in advance. Carlos said there was no solid evidence provided though. But I find it interesting I should find this today:

Newt Gingrich says a whistleblower is saying Georgia prosecutor Fani Wills was asked by someone in Washington to indict Donald Trump to distract from Hunter Biden's legal problems.

According to PJ Media, Gingrich claims his source is reliable.

If we have solid proof of this Biden can be both impeached and indicted.

Biden's Treasonous Mess

Timothy Birdnow

Usurper Biden is destabilizing the Middle East and the whole world, and Congressional Republicans fail to act.

From the Gates Institute:

  • The Biden Administration reached a deal with the Iranian regime behind closed doors on August 10, in which the United States agreed to pay $6 billion dollars and release a handful of Iranian nationals who are serving prison sentences in the US, in exchange for the release of five Iranian-Americans imprisoned in Iran – more than a billion dollars per head.

  • Worse, more billions apparently, is waiting in the wings.

  • More importantly, "That [the deal] will encourage hostage diplomacy among our foes is the least of the problems." — Richard Goldberg, former White House Security Official, thedispatch.com, August 15, 2023.

  • For a start, the Biden Administration, seemingly to avoid congressional oversight and a potential veto, essentially nullified the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 that requires Congressional approval of any Iran deal, and got away with it.

  • Moreover, as Goldberg notes, the price for Russia releasing Wall Street Journal's Evan Gershkovich probably just went up, not to mention the extremely real danger of what China, based on its new laws that say might well be tempted to do to visiting American business leaders, or just any American outside wandering around outside the US. According to Voice of America, the new "anti-espionage" law, "relying on espionage organizations and their agents," as well as the unauthorized obtaining of "documents, data, materials, and items related to national security and interests" can constitute a spying offense.

  • China's new law also states that it has the right to "to take corresponding countermeasures and restrictive measures" against acts that violate international law and norms and that "endanger China's sovereignty, security and development" – apparently meaning that a crime is anything the Communist Chinese government says it is.

There's more to this article; be sure to read it.

The mess this horses backside is making on the world stage is going to lead to utter ruin.

Hawaiian Fires, Power Grids, and the Race to Scotland

Timothy Birdnow

So we are told that the Maui fires were caused by power grid malfunctions which sparked multiple fires. Really?

First off, I thought Joe Biden fixed this with his $1 TRILLION "bipartisan" infrastructure bill. I mean, wasn't that actually the point? Instead of rebuilding the grid much of this money went to "soft" infrastructure, like "child care" or other vote buying schemes. He didn't actually spend this money on infrastructure.  So Biden gave money to buy votes and launder it back to the DNC but didn't actually fix the power grid.

This was on top of Barack Obama's $305 billion spent in 2015 on "infrastructure" as well.

So Obiden spent one and a third Trillion dollars and we got - nothing. A Hawaiian power grid that was so rickety it blew out and burned the bloody Island.

"Katrina Joe" Biden should be held accountable for this.

And yet we have been told we have to move to an all-electric economy, with electric cars and electric planes and buses, and toothbrushes and dental floss and who knows what else. This with an old power grid and the potential of starting fires like this. The Maui fires are a strong argument against "green tech".

But try to tell Captain Peachfuzz any of this. He is determined to foist EV's on the whole country and wreck oil and gas.

How would that have worked out if the people of Maui had nothing but dead batteries in their EV's when the fire was coming?

Another point to ponder; this is exactly what you get when you centralize authority and decision making. Those making decisions become increasingly remote from what is happening on the ground, and the end result is slow action and/or bad decisions. There is a reason for Federalism. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing.

I don't know how this pertains to Federal law and regulatory policy, but it certainly was in part a failure of the Democratic-controlled Hawaiian government. They failed to blow the warning sirens, for instance. Now the head of the emergency management agency there says they didn't blow them because they usually blow them for tsunamis or hurricanes and they feared people would go to high ground - the very place the fires were raging.

That sounds nice but it sounds more to me like a cop-out. How stupid are Mauians? They couldn't see they were going into fires?

No, I suspect this was just the best excuse for an oversight. Hiding incompetence.

And of course the mainstream media will try to keep the cause of this quiet; environmentalists worked to keep old plantation lands fallow so they would be in "a state of nature". The end result was invasive grasses colonized the old farm lands and they were ripe for wildfires. But we mustn't say that! Better blame it on Climate Change with it's fraction of a degree warming!

The fact is we are going to see a lot more of such fires in the future, along with brownouts and blackouts. This is what you get when you overtax any system. Overspecialization is always a bad idea, and we are insisting on overspecializing, on going to one and only one energy delivery system, one that is centralized and vulnerable.

But of course that's the whole point; the people pushing this want to de-industrialize the country and so they will push technology that will help them to do this. Then they will restrict that technology when fires like this occur, in the "interrst of public safety". It will get colder (or hotter) and darker and poorer. As these people think it should be. They want us to stop having children and living so well.

As I have stated previously, this is Joe Biden's Katrina, or should be. He has botched things terribly, as have the Hawaiian Democrats (just as in Hurricane Katrina). We need to hang this around their necks.

But no doubt the GOP won't do  it. They will mumble and stumble and try to take the high road. That high road is for people who are high, frankly, at least these days. The guys on the low road are shooting at those on the high.

Anyone remember the song "you take the high road and I'll take the low road and I'll be in Scotland before you"? The Democrats live, work, and breathe the low road. And they always beat us to Scotland.

Feeling the Pain

Diane Kimura

In the first 7 months of 2023, the U.S. has seen an alarming 402 corporate bankruptcies.

This is more than the entire 2022 total of 373. In the first 7 months of 2022, the U.S. saw just 205 bankruptcies. In other words, bankruptcies this year are up 96% compared to 2022.

Consumer discretionary leads with 48 bankruptcies, a sign that consumers are feeling the pain.

Industrials is next, at 46, another sign of pain from higher rates.

Keep it to Yourself it's His Life

Timothy Birdnow

Not Our Life

With apologies to Billy Joel:

Got a call from Joe Biden he's getting much too close
Said we couldn't go on the American Way
made us close our shops, lose our houses, buy a ticket on the metro
now he mumbles and sputters but you must obey

best not listen to him folks you know that he's not right
He'll try to tell you that you will just have to stay home
He don't care what you say anymore, he'll just run your life
take your money, your job, and not toss you a bone

If you were there on J6 he won't offer you a second chance (no second chance)
Even if it's quite clear you're a victim of circumstance (of circumstance)
You don't belong: your sentence will be long
if you try to speak your mind
his Stasi will kick your be-hind

He don't care anymore your is his life
He don't care anymore your is his life
Please just leave us alone.
better keep it to yourself or you'll get the knife.....

Joe Goes All Out

Timothy Birdnow

So Katrina Joe is sending a whopping $700 to victims of the Hawaiian fires.https://www.newsweek.com/hawaii-wildfires-joe-biden-victims-payment-backlash-1819883 What a great guy! Of course they can't spend it as everything has burned down. Nor will it allow them to rebuild their homes that have been lost.

He's earmarked the vast sum of $3.8 million to help these Americans.

Yet he's now spent $113 BILLION on his proxy war in Ukraine. https://thefederalist.com/2023/08/17/bidens-700-checks-to-hawaii-fire-victims-wont-even-cover-their-share-of-ukraine-bill/ And he spent $100 BILLION in 2021 https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/578995-biden-looks-to-spend-100b-on-immigration-as-house-explores/ to facilitate the invading aliens entry across our southern border.

Shoot; the annual cost of maintaining the White House is 1.6 million bucks. So Biden basically gave them about twice the White House maintenance budget. What a swell guy!

And actually the cost of maintaining the White House may be a lot more. In 2012 it may have been as high as $1.6 billion.https://dailycaller.com/2012/10/08/how-it-costs-taxpayers-1-4-billion-a-year-to-fund-the-white-house/ So this is peanut shells, not even with the nuts inside (I know; they are actually legumes.)

BTW Biden spent $1,063,053,521 on his 2020 campaign for dictator, er, president.https://www.newsweek.com/joe-biden-billion-dollar-campaign-spent-13-every-vote-1553058 And considering the Biden syndicate got $31 million from China,https://nypost.com/2022/01/27/chinese-elite-have-paid-some-31m-to-hunter-and-the-bidens/ and he took in plenty from Ukraine and other places. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/analysis-hunter-bidens-hard-drive-shows-firm-took-11-million-2013-2018-rcna29462 and https://nypost.com/2023/05/10/nine-biden-family-members-who-allegedly-got-foreign-money-identified-by-house-gop/ You would think Biden would at least match the three million with his own funds, if there is no money in the budget for Hawaii.

But he's going all out in this crisis, digging deep into his pockets for three million bucks!

And he couldn't be bothered to visit there, even for a flyby. When asked about it he mumbled "no comment" in a style reminiscent of Marie Antoinette's "let them eat cake". I suppose he thinks the people of Hawaii who have been displaced are just ungrateful. Many of them will never be found.

But when these people who have lost their homes, their businesses, their pets, their loved ones get that $700 check all will be right with the world! They will eagerly fill out multiple mail-in ballots now to elect Joe Biden President! There will be banquets in his honor and celebrations with his image on cakes and fireworks and much consumption of Kava and great merriment. They are saved thanks to the geriatric cracker in the crack box house!

Maybe they can afford to buy a nice tent to live in with the money. Shoot; they might even be able to get a bicycle to replace the cars they lost!

Dead, Fallen, and Eaten by Strange Worms

Timothy Birdnow

If I didn't know better I would think they  were making a rather poetic description of the decline of America. Eaten by weird, pansexual worms!

Meet Four of the Weirdest Animals on the Planet | Smithsonian Voices

FTA:

What happens when whales die? Their huge bodies fall to the ocean floor, reaching depths of several thousand meters. They arrive at the bottom relatively intact, since they sink quickly and there are no significant scavengers in the water column. Whale falls create unique, nutrient-rich ecosystems that may sustain creatures of the abyss for decades: in the cold depths, the lipid- and proteinrich whales are a rare treat. Their flesh is picked away by sharks, crabs, and hagfish. Their skeletons are left behind, to be covered by beautiful, delicate, colorful flowers, resembling the fresh graves of beloved relatives. Except the flowers are not really flowers—they are worms. Zombie worms. And they are there to eat the bones.

Zombie worms, also known as bone-eating worms (a literal translation of their genus name, Osedax), are distant relatives of the more mundane earthworms. Small (just a few centimeters long), with pinkish-red "stems” and feather-duster- like "petals”—which are, in fact, respiratory palps used for breathing—they resemble plants more than animals. One species even gained the glamorous scientific name Osedax mucofloris, which translates as "bone-eating snot flower” worm. Like plants, these worms have roots, serving not just as an anchor but also as a way of obtaining food. This is a necessity, since, surprisingly for an animal that feeds on bones, zombie worms seem to have missed out on pretty crucial body parts: the mouth and gut. Instead, their soft root-like tissue secretes acid and enzymes to drill into the lipid-rich whale skeleton, and the dissolved nutrients are delivered to symbiotic bacteria living within the worms. These symbionts then metabolise the organic compounds, and feed the host. The acid borings are also used as shelter holes for the worms.

Bone-eating worms are pretty ubiquitous; they have been found at depths of between 30 and 3,000m, in the Atlantic and Pacific, from Sweden to California to the Antarctic. A single whale skeleton can house between half a million and a million adults. But here is the catch: those adults are all female. If you thought the worms’ feeding habits were weird, wait till you find out about their sex lives...

All Osedax are sexually dimorphic: the females look very different from the males. Inside their stem-like, gelatinous tubes, the zombie worm ladies harbor harems of a hundred or so microscopic males; the older and larger the female, the bigger her harem. Every male, or should we say man-child, is hardly more than a sperm-filled larva, reliant on a yolk droplet for energy (males don’t have the symbiotic bacteria to supply them with food). This polygamous relationship is a very strict-termed, no-nonsense barter: housing for sperm. The supremely fecund females produce a constant stream of larvae, and while most of the young won’t make it in the ocean depths, some lucky ones will find their way to another whale fall to settle down. It is likely that the sex of the larva is determined by environmental conditions—afte r spawning, those that land on dead whales become females, and those landing on the females, males. Females can colonize skeletons at densities of 3–20 individuals per centimeter, and once they settle, the late arrivals become males and live inside their girlfriends.

The Illusionists

Timothy Birdnow

This is how the Democrats steal election after election.

Congress probing whether Democrats improperly using nonprofits, foreign money to win elections
justthenews.com

I wonder if they would not be a very small minority party if it were not for massive fraud election after election?

They register illegals. They have voters living on parking lots or at funeral parlors. They launder money to nonprofit organizations, many overseas, who then pressure American corporations to fund them. The list goes on and on.

I believe we are ruled by a rather small minority but it has the appearance of a divided country because the Democrats and the plutocrats and the media create a mirage,  an image of a divided country in which Democrats seem to usually come out on top. But it's all fake, phony. An illustion.

How Out Of Touch Or Stupid Is Joe Biden?

James Doogue

When Joe Biden whispers or shouts to make a point, you know what he's saying is something stupid or a lie. This latest example responding to criticism that America is failing is a classic case in point.

"Name me a single objective we’ve ever set out to accomplish that we’ve failed on. Name me one, in all of our history. Not one!” Biden shouted.
https://www.bizpacreview.com/2023/08/17/shouting-biden-name-me-a-single-objective-weve-ever-set-out-to-accomplish-that-weve-failed-on-1387549/

It really was a stupid claim.

Biden obviously has a poor head for American history because I can think of some pretty significant historical failures by the US quickly off the top of my head, including:

- The US lost the 'space race' to the Soviet Union which beat the US in launching a satellite; then launching and safely returning an animal into space; and then doing the same with a human.

- I would put Japan's 'surprise' attack on the US at Pearl Harbour and the airbase near Honolulu as a failure to keep the US safe despite widespread intelligence that Japan was planning something big.

- Many a US president has failed to achieve their goal of peace in The Middle East, and have arguably made the prospect more distant.

- Losing the trade war and exporting jobs to their potentially greatest threat, China.

- Losing the 'war on drugs'.

- The Korean War isn't exactly in the win column for the US.

- The Vietnam War was a shit show for the US.

- The second Iraq war based on the threat of WMD's and bringing democracy to the country isn't in the US win column.

- The US failed keeping their man Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran in place. Instead turning the country into a terrorist theocracy which will soon have nukes with intercontinental ballistic missile capabilities. Meanwhile the US continues to pay billions in bribes to the country.

- Their longest 'war' Afghanistan was certainly lost by the US.

- Because the US don't stick by their policy of never negotiating with terrorists, US citizens continue to be taken hostage or are detained to extract ransoms or for use as political levers.

- The US is the largest contributor to the UN but has allowed China to exert more control over the UN in just about every area.

There's so much more I could list, but it's unrealistic to expect a country to never fail at anything. But when the most incompetent US president, at least in the modern era, thinks the US has failed at nothing, it invites a look at his personal record. I have to ask, has he succeeded in a single objective he set out to achieve?

The Purpose of Propaganda

"... within an established totalitarian regime the purpose of propaganda is not to persuade, much less to inform, but to humiliate. From this point of view, propaganda should not approximate to the truth as closely as possible: on the contrary it should do as much violence to it as possible. For by endlessly asserting what is patently untrue, by making such untruth ubiquitous and unavoidable, and finally by insisting that everyone publicly acquiesce in it, the regime displays its power and reduces individuals to nullities. Who can retain his self-respect when, far from defending what he knows to be true, he has to applaud what he knows to be false – not occasionally, as we all do, but for the whole of his adult life?" - Anthony Daniels: The Wilder Shores of Marx
