She ought to be dragged to a range and forced to shoot one of the things. She'd learn that not only are they not so fierce but they are actually fun to shoot. Of course, then she'd be useless at her job...

Agreed Dana. She has no clue what one is, or how it behaves.
Also, she doesn't understand basic physics; if you have a high powered rifle (as she automatically assumes an AR to be) it tends to shoot through objects rather than shredding them (as she assumes). You need a shotgun to do what she thinks the AR does.

She obviously hasn't heard that the AR-15 is rated as under-powered for deer; it's more of a "varmint" rifle. Of course, she'd have no clue as to what THAT means, either.
