"Then God said, ‘Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.’ Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.” Genesis 1:6-7.

Water exists in our oceans but an estimated 3x of our oceans is water bound up in Ringwoodite, a hydrous mineral down in the Transition Region, approx. 410 to 660 km down. With planetary decompression Ringwoodite undergoes decompression dehydration, releases its water and converts to Bridgemanite, which is thought to be the densest mineral known and comprises the bulk of the Lower Mantle. (Diamond is hardest). The water derived from Ringwoodite does 3 things.
1) Provide a lubricant for slippage on rock strata to produce Richter 8 - 9 earthquakes. 660 to 700 km down. A Richter 8.8 earthquake occurred in the Peru/Chile trench on Feb. 27, 2010. It generated a tsunami that crossed to Japan in less than a day.
2) Steam provides the motive fluid for volcanoes which spew out pyroclastic ash, including light feldspars which carry far downwind. Feldspars have Potassium, Ammonium and Iron. They are natural fertilizers. Hence, Yellowstone fertilized the Midwest states so we have "amber waves of grain.”
3) In making sulfuric acid via the Contact Process — and it’s the same thing inside earth — you burn sulfur to get SO2 (an exothermic reaction) then with catalysts like Hemitite or Vanadium Pentoxide, you convert SO2 to SO3 ( also exothermic), then you quench SO3 in water to make sulfuric acid (also exothermic). Hence, Yellowstone. None of the heat of these geochemical reactions are included in the current heat balance of the Earth.
Now somebody had to figure this all out. It could be that He’s up there in the firmament.
