World War Looming

They are going to take us into war with Russia if they are allowed to. The propaganda has been so intense over the last few weeks that they’ve been able to change public opinion which shortly ago said that the Ukraine was none of our business too now over 70% think that the US and NATO needs to place a No-Fly Zone over Ukraine. That would effectively be a Declaration of War against Russia, which would draw in China, probably India and several other countries, including several African and South American countries on the side of Russia. WW3!

I agree Chet; the war drumbeat is pretty much constant now, and it will drive us into war or at least into decades of distrust and bitterness. And war with a nuclear power of Russia's stature is insane! Most people think the Russians only have a few nukes. They don't realize they have more than do we, and newer ones too. This is the most dangerous time we've faced since the Cuban Missile Crisis and maybe even moreso. Back then we understood the stakes.
I am horrified by how easily led so many are, especially those on our side.
There are no good guys in this. Ukraine is a horrible place and so is Russia. We should have taken pains to stop this whole crisis. But Biden needs to hide his sins and so do the Interantionalists. We are blundering into war. It looks very much like 1914.

I think the West wants Russia to suffer another Afghanistan. A long drawn out war where nobody wins.I dont believe all the fear mongering of nuclear war its just hype to sell print.

More than one writer has quoted Sun Tzu in saying "provide your enemy a golden bridge to retreat on." Instead, everybody is boxing Putin into a corner, and even a cornered mouse will attack when there's no escape. This is a time for ADULT diplomacy, and we have no adults in our diplomatic corps, or in the White House.

They are giving Putin the same treatment they gave Trump. Every day there's talk about how he's losing and how he is out of control and insane etc. I rather doubt any of it.
This isn't an American President running for re-election.
Mike, I think Putin could use tactical nukes if we send troops in. That is the big issue here. And I rather doubt we would counter with our own nukes. I think we would fear doomsday too much, and there are those who would argue we had to endure it rather than kill millions of innocent people.
I agree; it's overblown at this point. Putin is sabre rattling, largely to make it clear he won't tolerate a NATO response.

I had a mouse on a glue trap the other day and had to pick the trap up with my hand. The little love child scratched at me (and man his claws were sharp!) and would have bit me if he could. I whomped him with a shovel (HAH!)
He didn't break the skin but I took no chances; stuck my finger in an alcohol bottle.
The point is, he is not going to end in a spider hole like Saddam Hussein. He'll go down swinging.

Oh, and Mike, I have no doubt you are right; they want another Afghanistan in Ukraine. But it isn't anywhere near the same sort of situation. This war will end within a few weeks, probably, with major concessions offered to Russia. Otherwise it could wind up spreading well outside of the Ukrainian border.
I do not believe Russia has sent in their best troops or equipment either. I think we are being duped at their pathetic response.
This won't be a years-long guerilla war. The Ukrainians will be crushed or they will cut a deal. It's that simple.
