Most of the Western World morphed into authoritarian regimes when they imposed a state of emergency with Covid-19. Many jurisdictions in the Western World are still operating under the 'Health Emergency' which allows such things as lock-downs, closed borders, vaccine mandates, mask mandates, closed schools, arrests and detention without due process, police brutality, corporate corruption, deals for political mates without tenders, etc etc.

We now have record government debt, record inflation and record interest rates since the 1980's, and most of those jurisdictions haven't rescinded the declared health emergency. Why would they? It gives the incumbent government unrestrained power.

The 'health emergency' continues to transfer market share from small business to big business because it's too expensive to operate a restrictions compliant business in an uncertain future. That suits scaled up big businesses with deep pockets.

The 'emergency' continues to enrich big tech and big pharma, and even the mainstream media with all the paid government health messages.

The government gets to fund every pet project they haven't been able to get parliamentary approval for before by lumping it into a 'Covid rescue plan'. Whether it's boosting childcare subsidies, increasing welfare payments, subsidising businesses or home buyers, building quarantine centres, it doesn't matter. No public debate or public tenders necessary.

There's no incentive to rescind the state of emergency. The responsible minister just signs a rollover order to something we were told in March 2020 would last three weeks!

If anyone speaks against it, they face the full force of the bureaucracy which is enjoying the unfettered power, the union's representing employees enjoying 'working' from home, and the slew of other beneficiaries of the state of emergency including Big Business, Big Tech, Big Pharma, the mainstream media etc.

Politicians fear that if they argued against the state of emergency and win, then they would be blamed for any Covid-19 death from that point on, as if all these restrictions we've been living under, including various lockdowns and mandates, have saved us from Covid-19.

Have a look at the data. The Western developed countries living under states of emergency, which have locked down their citizens, closed businesses, mandated masks and vaccines, certainly don't have lower infection and death rates than countries which have enjoyed more freedom. In fact, in many cases, the opposite is true.

In my state of Western Australia our autocrat Premier Mark McGowan kept our borders closed until March this year. He locked us down on the basis of one leaked Covid case from a quarantine hotel.

Did that save us from the 'disaster' he claimed the more liberal states were suffering? No. We suffered as much or more.

To date we have 38% of our population who have been infected with COVID-19 despite mandating vaccinations for 12 year olds and up. We have a death rate of 168 per million population.

At the current rate of infections, we'll almost certainly be in the top five by the end of this winter. What were we saved from?

People will tell you the vaccine mandates, and the closed borders kept us safe until the less deadly Omicron virus came along and it was safer to open the borders. With the exception of China, New Zealand, and North Korea, Western Australia have had more stringent restrictions placed on citizens than the countries which had a lower death rate.

In fact had WA not had a generally healthy population, and particularly good weather and a first world health system, there's absolutely no doubt that despite the authoritarian Covid restrictions, we would have had a much higher Covid-19 death rate.

The data doesn't lie. Mark McGowan's authoritarian rule during the Covid-19 pandemic did not keep us safe, it simply deprived us of freedom and quality of life, at a huge economic costs.

The point is, if we do not have an unbiased enquiry into the pandemic response, then most people will believe the big lie that the 'state of emergency' was necessary and kept us safe.

What are the implications of that? Simple. It will happen again and again. Once taken, power is never willingly handed back. The pandemic was a test case for how easily democracy can be suspended.

We can expect a state of emergency to be declared any time the ruling politicians want to remove the checks and balances which are in place to stop unfettered power.

What's to stop the government from declaring a state of emergency over electricity supply to force businesses and consumers to reduce consumption and/or to transfer to renewables?

I can easily see Western governments declaring a 'climate emergency' to remove the roadblocks to introducing socialist policies advocated by the World Economic Forum. The global elites. We'll be told by our leaders we were saved, and their popularity will increase while our rights and freedoms are stripped away. Unless we hold them to account for the pandemic response.
