Really? How did THIS happen? Mysterious pregnancies at all-woman prison.

Dana Mathewson

I apologize for posting something like this during Holy Week, but Tim has covered that well enough that I can offer something that shows just how far we have truly fallen.

John Hinderaker writes in Power Line about something totally predictable.

The prospect of incarceration is horrifying. I imagine that a large majority of men, if given the choice, would opt to be incarcerated in a women’s prison for a number of reasons beginning with safety. Until recently, that wouldn’t have been possible. But today, in what we might call the Shania Twain era ("Man…I feel like a woman!”), a transfer request is apparently all it takes.

In New Jersey, 27 men are being housed in a women’s prison, with predictable consequences.

Two women at New Jersey’s only all-women’s prison…

Evidently not.

…have both fallen pregnant after having sex with transgender inmates.

I.e., men. Otherwise they would not have gotten pregnant.

Prison bosses said that in both instances, the sex was consensual.

Again: utterly predictable. The inmates, whatever their faults, are evidently smarter than the bureaucrats who bought the "trans” line.

Edna Mahan houses 27 transgender prisoners, and over 800 women altogether. … An investigation has been launched.

This investigation could be really groundbreaking. If conducted by biologists, it might finally solve the age-old mystery of how women (actual women) get pregnant.

Edna Mahan, the only women’s prison in the Garden State, does not require transgender inmates to proceed with reassignment surgery in order to be housed at the correctional.

Yes, we had figured that out.

This is all, of course, a matter of "rights.”

The idea of incarcerating men in women's prisons is an idea that only a Democrat -- or a college professor, which these days is pretty much the same thing -- could think is a good idea.

1 Whoda see THAT coming? Surprise, surprise, surprise!

I would say America is now run by morons, but that would be an insult to morons.

2 As another example of American stupidity, there is a bill pending in the California legislature, and one like it at the federal level, which would mandate that all companies with 500 or more employees adopt a 32-hour work week, paying overtime to those who work more than 32 hours in a week.

Politicians refer to it as a "populist” concept, and workers are thrilled at the idea of working fewer days/hours per week. As far as I can tell, economists are silent on the subject so far, but I have gone through all of the economic problems that this country is suffering at the moment, and it seems to me that every one of them would be made significantly worse by this policy.

We have shortages of practically every product one can name, so let’s have workers work fewer hours, make fewer products, and create even more severe shortages. Why does anyone think that this is a good idea?

Perhaps the idea is that more workers will be hired to fill out the work week, but we also have a labor shortage, so how is that going to pan out? We can’t fill the job openings we have, so let’s create more job openings. Really?

Inflation is eating up wage gains, so the pay that workers are receiving is buying less and less. So let’s reduce their buying power even further with a reduction of their income due to shorter working hours. Brilliant.

If we increase workers’ hourly pay to offset the reduced hours it would mean increasing the price of the products they are producing. That would make inflation even higher than it is now, and it’s already the worst it has been in four decades. Who thinks that is a good idea?

On the other hand, reducing working class income means less consumer spending, which trashes the economy. We all want to see that happen, right?

This nation has broken out in an epidemic of highly contagious stupidity, which seems to have originated in California and is spreading out of control.

3 Stupidity indeed Bill. And the French tried this with a 35 hour work week and had to rework it, giving "flex time" since most people worked over forty hours anyway. The end result was they have a "35 hour week" which is simply doled out as extra days off.

And who can say France is some great economic powerhouse these days? Germany is the engine of the European economy, not France.

4 France basically got rid of the 35 hour week, too. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/france-drops-35-hour-work-week/ and nobody works it today.

I agree; it will lower productivity when we can ill afford that.

Are the Chinese going to go to a short week?

This will only make us more dependent on foreign resources and foreign manufacturing.
