Arrested at the site of anti-mandate protests. I spent 4 hours in the police Lock-Up. Will be summoned to appear in court at a future date for pleading.
I spent the first hour of my arrest absolutely stunned at what had happened and feeling so disappointed and ashamed for our police service.
Extended members of my family and friends are past and present police officers. In the past I've been a staunch supporter of police, acknowledging I wouldn't want to do their job. But having seen what's happened to me, it's easy to believe the worse of police accused of abuse of power.
Clearly there are a few police drunk on power and many who do not have the courage to speak out. I saw the shame and guilt in the eyes of some police officers. With some saying "we're only doing our job" as they 'processed' me.
"Just following orders" didn't cut it in Nuremberg, and it shouldn't be the refrain in Western Australian Police.
It's time serving police officers said no to their political masters who want to use them to make a point.
Since my arrest and incarceration on Wednesday night I've been running on fumes. I'm still recovering from the physical ordeal caused by being deprived of my meds, and the stress of the affair.
I'm considering my way forward. It will probably be weeks before I get a summons with a court date. That date could be months from now. The process is punishment and a deterrent regardless of guilt or innocence.
I guess I have plenty of time to consider if I am prepared to take up the fight or not. I'm seeking advice, communicating with others who were arrested, and reading up on case law. I will definitely write more about this soon as the issue of tyrannical governments using Covid as a cover, is not going away.
Sadly I was not well enough to join the competition shoot today. That would have been in 38°C forecast temp. That's in the shade. We would have sweltered on hot sand in the sun. As soon as I picked up the rifle this morning I knew I was in no shape to shoot. My son drove me home and I went back to bed. 😕
But life still goes on and I'm privileged to share it with our children and grandchildren - and the pooches in our life. Walks in the park, beach volleyball practice, swimming lessons and this afternoon we had a little one's, first birthday party. Real life continues. 🙂
