The United States relies on a global market for crude oil and petroleum products to meet its energy needs, and imports are a normal part of that market.

8 Damdam it is true we import oil from all over and sell it all over. But it is the balance between imports and exports that matters. If we produce enough where we do not need to import more than we export then we are energy independent. The term doesn't mean we don't buy some. It means we don't HAVE to buy it if we don't need to.

Then when the shit hits the fan you are in good shape. But if you are reliant solely on imports then you are at the mercy of anything that roils the market.

We used to be one of the countries that helped determine how much oil was going to cost. Now we are at their mercy, thanks to Joe Biden.
