Apologies for Light Blogging

Dear Readers

I must apologize for the light blogging. The site was down on Sunday and yesterday I was overly busy. I will be a bit hit-or-miss for the next few days too, but should be able to get SOME stuff posted.

Thank you for your patience.

Climate Change is Good

Willis Eschenbach

It's official. Global warming saves lives in the UK.

"We found relatively little increase in deaths caused by warmer weather and a reduction in deaths caused by cold winters, leading to a net decrease in deaths; in contrast, there was a net increase in hospital admissions linked to warmer weather, especially from injuries."

The Cats Meow

Selwyn Duke

It can't be confirmed that this is true. If it is, however, it's yet more proof that it really is time for the asteroid strike. A civilization this deranged can't long survive, anyway.

By the way, when formulating arguments against the MUSS ("transgender") agenda, I've for many years drawn parallels between "gender dysphoria" and "species dysphoria," the latter being the belief that one is an animal stuck in a human body. Well, if the above story is true, the Left has finally caught up with my examples of corresponding lunacy.

Really, the sexual devolutionaries should just read my work. They could then get a head start on their "next" descent into insanity.

Also, if the kid is a cat, then he should be sent home. Animals aren't allowed in school.

Tonga Weather

Timothy Birdnow

So, was it Global Warming that caused the big snows across the country?

Nope.

According to the Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) lidar-based satellite, measuring the global distribution of ozone as a remote sensing method, it seems the Jan 15 eruption of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai had a maximum column height of approx. 30km (98,425ft)–and so well into the stratosphere.

Aerosol plumes (tiny droplets of sulfuric acid, as well as fine ash particles) have been spreading out across vast stretches of the southern hemisphere, reports volcanodiscovery.com, exerting a cooling effect as they go. Aerosols shade sunlight and so reduce terrestrial temperatures. Particulates that reach the stratosphere can linger there for years or even decades at a time.

Bare Shelves - Again

Steven Schueler

The cause is not the 'pandemic' but the government's responses to it.

Store shelves are left bare in eerie reminder of the early days of the pandemic as out-of-stock levels increase to 12% due to Omicron surge and supply-chain issues

Tim adds:

And with the huge increase in the monetary supply we've seen the cost of every level of the supply chain go up. No wonder.

I would point out that the primary problem is in food shortages. How is that, when America grows so much of her own food?

Well, we do crazy stuff like ship meat to China for processing then ship it back here. It's nuts.

But what I see is farming is becoming more expensive, to the point that a lot of land was probably left fallow during the pandemic. Farmers couldn't afford to buy the equipment they needed, and they couldn't get the prices they needed.

One wonders how much worse it will get.

The Dismal Science

"The art of economics consists in looking not merely at the immediate but at the longer effects of any act or policy; it consists in tracing the consequences of that policy not merely for one group but for all groups. Nine-tenths of the economic fallacies that are working such dreadful harm in the world today are the result of ignoring this lesson.”

— Henry Hazlitt

A word from Tim:

Sadly, since economics is a soft science it was ripe for politicization. From the time of Marx onward it's been used as a tool to justify socialistic policies and statism. In fact, it goes to well before Marx; the whole modern era can be traced backj to Thomas Malthus and his idea of overpopulation wrecking civilization, an idea that has been proven spectacularly wrong but remains a powerful incentive to the Ruling Class to this very day, and gave us such little goodies as eugenics (and thus Naziism) and a host of other terrible policies. Economics has been used to justify heavy government intervention in the economy and Keynes was just one of the later actors to promote encroaching government as a supposed means to protect the economy. Amazingly people still believe in Keynes, whose theories never worked.

The Spin 'Covid Vaccines Reduce Chance Of Hospitalisation Or Death'

James Doogue

Hospitalisation

Or Death'

The mantra 'if you are vaccinated you are less likely to end up in hospital or dead', was invented by desperate spin doctors. It was clear to blind Freddie the vaccinations were not as good as promoted at stopping infections so 'vaccine hesitancy' had to be approached differently.

Which is why even in populations where 90% are vaccinated, and because of vaccine passports, where 100% of the patrons in a particular venue are vaccinated, they still have to wear a mask!

So they tell you are less likely to be hospitalised or die.

They avoid telling you the only people being hospitalised or dying (with rare exceptions) are the frail elderly, or those with serious co-morbidities.

Healthy people are not at risk of hospitalisation or dying. Therefore they do not need a vaccine to save them from that. Especially given the vaccine exposes them to potential adverse reactions.

Then they try to justify vaccine mandates by saying it 'keeps us all safe', or 'keeps grandma safe' etc. The problems with that is:

- Clearly the vaccine doesn't stop infection or being infectious. Therefore the vaccine mandate is unjustified for the purpose of keeping us all safe.

- It is morally and medically ethically wrong, to force or coerce a person to have a medical procedure which is to benefit others, not the individual.

- A person is not giving informed consent to a vaccine if they have been deliberately misled about the benefits of the vaccine for them and the risks involved.

- Children are legally incapable of giving informed consent.

So when you read or hear the vaccine reduces the chance of hospitalisation or death, just remember they aren't referring to healthy people which includes most children. Even though they like to make you think Covid-19 is equally dangerous for all.

It is correct to say that if you are a frail elderly person, or have serious co-morbidities such as obesity, diabetes, heart, lung or kidney problems, then the vaccine is likely to reduce your chances of hospitalisation or death.

Did Australia's Covid Policies Work?

Timothy Birdnow

Here's an interesting discussion on Facebook over Australia's draconian Covid policies.

Lance Pidgeon says:

Well the simple explanation for Australia is that standing alone to maintain covid zero worked on every scale but all three of the communist "herd immunity" approaches did not.
That is the the "lock up the elderly and vulnerable for the good of the commune approach failed. The vaccinate everyone including kids for the good of the commune approach failed. As well as the flatten the curve for the good of the commune approach failed. Only the lock it out and stand alone method worked.

James Doogue replies:

You are correct if your metric for success or failure is number of cases, and resulting Hospitalisations and deaths. That is, with no concern for quality of life, loss of freedoms, and short and long term economic cost. Also, whose saying the experiment is over. The way it is looking, we'll all eventually get covid. What remains to be seen is how much long term damage is created by the disease and by our actions to fight the disease.

Last night I was looking at some very worrying data about the dramatic increase in the incidence of infant deaths miscarriages, deformed births, and menstrual irregularities which correlate with the rollout of vaccines. Though there's no proof yet that vaccines are to blame, this may yet be another long term cost of our response to Covid-19 which may impact all the eggs in the ovaries of all vaccinated women.

While we are all busy infighting about our Covid response we are getting further away from holding China to account.

Lance retorts:

"That is, with no concern for quality of life, loss of freedoms, and short and long term economic cost."
Those are the problems we have now that we did not have at covid zero.

Covid zero means no vaccines are required. If you don't trust the vaccines then covid zero is the only real alternative.

James Doogue retorts:

Not if you value freedom, economic security and so on. Also, not if you are a country or region with many miles of land borders to protect. Or a population with ethnic or cultural connections which go beyond the country's borders. Or a government without the resources to go in to massive debt to support individuals and organisations whose incomes rely on open borders.

You are also assuming that this crop of vaccines was the only prevention/treatment option available. There are/were other treatment options available which worked successfully in various parts of the world. Most notably was prevention and treatment protocols which included Ivermectin. Like this one from Uttar Pradesh India's landlocked, most populous state with over 200 million. Not that UP hasn't escaped many other restrictions in the hope of slowing the Omicron infection.

May be an image of 1 person and text

Lance Responds:

There are no such "Not if"s or complications that are too hard to work around. Covid zero produced the freedom we saw in places like Tasmania and the N.T quickly. The math is so simple i can't for the life of me figure out why so many like you just can't see it. It is simple and works anyplace. Even China! Ivermectin certainly would help. All that is required is to keep the potential growth rate below one. Using ivertmectin as a prophylactic instead of a treatment would certainly.

"You are also assuming that this crop of vaccines was the only prevention/treatment option available" You know full well i have been using neem vitamin D etc and don't think vaccines are an option at all. Why this sentence?

James again:

You watch Battleground Melbourne? https://youtu.be/xzfJGC1_yPo

That's the type of Covid Zero freedom I wouldn't want. Similar to WA. Just less violent. It's not real freedom. I'm not free if my neighbours are oppressed because they are against getting vaxed.

Lance retorts:

That is the direct result of N.S.W. letting it rip. It is the result of what you have been promoting. Remember covid zero is vaccine zero is lockdown zero. It is not what happened after Gladys cancelled freedom and covid zero together. Her determined under reaction caused the mess in Melbourne. Covid zero meant all the internal borders were wide open and free. You worked hard against that freedom to destroy it. Apart from a two week delay in the high volume remote incoming quarantine that the federal government failed to organise no other restriction was required.
What we have now James Doogue is the direct result of your theories not working. .

I add:

I can't speak for Australia but I know a girl who has lived there for decades (she married an Australian man) who just came back to the United States because of your Covid Zero policies Lance. She described it as living in a prison. I hope it was worth it to you.

BTW, Your own leader admitted hospitals are full of non-covid cases and he was at a loss to understand why. Is it perhaps that the protocols AREN'T working but it is being relabeled in order to justify claims that it is? Just asking.

Teen Truckers

Timothy Birdnow

Will they have to present I.D. to do it? I mean, the Post-Dispatch thinks it's too much of a burden to EVER present an identification, especially for voting.

The federal government is moving forward with a plan to let teenagers drive big rigs from state to state in a test program.

Oh, and newsflash P-D; it's already legal for kids over 18 to drive big rigs in almost all states.

This is an attempt to use the Federal power to regulate interstate commerce to get it's hands on the trucking industry, I am sure. This will allow the Feds to perhaps issue Federal licenses.

As Rahm Emmanuel so eloquently stated "never let a good crisis go to waste".

Ukrainian Cyberhack and Biden's Poll Numbers

Timothy Birdnow

War is looming.

Massive cyberattack hits Ukrainian gov't websites as West warns on Russia conflict

Joe Biden's poll numbers have dropped to 35%, which is the kiss of death for the Democrats.

I have been saying Biden might start a war if he is in trouble. He's in trouble.

Who hacked the Ukrainian web? What proof is there it was the Russians?

And if it IS the Russians (something that seems unlikely to me as Putin is no fool and would know the stupidity of doing this at this time) it will be seized on to justify any sort of action, up to and including military combat. Biden needs to rally the country around him.

AND since there was already so much effort put into the lie of Donald Trump "collusion" with Russia and a lot of dimbulbs believe it still, this will help him politically. Going to war with Montenegro or Djibouti wouldn't serve the same political purpose.

Now, only a madman would want war with a premier nuclear power. But Biden is hardly the most stable brain out there, and his party is absolutely mad with power-lust. There are those who would risk it.

We are in a very dangerous time. Internal and external forces are aligning that could ignite the powderkeg. The First World War started in much the same way. Only this time we could be using thermonuclear devices.

Education in the Black Community

Timothy Birdnow

On Facebook a commenter makes a great point about race relations in the U.S.

Timothy Allen says:

Exactly! Public schools teach young black children that everything was stolen from them by white people and that they h ave no chance in "the Man's" world and so they must reject everything that is "white" as though hard work and providing goods and serivices for people is omehow race related. Of course these children grow into angry men and women! Who wouldn't be angry if they were led to believe the system is hopelessly rigged against them and four out of five people in their own country hate and despise them and seek to oppress them? You would hate everything about your country if you truly believed that. That is what these school teachers are teaching, and that is because it beneifits the very people who have kept the black community in servitude for all these years.

Mr. Birdnow replies:

Exactly! Public schools teach young black children that everything was stolen from them by white people and that they h ave no chance in "the Man's" world and so they must reject everything that is "white" as though hard work and providing goods and serivices for people is omehow race related. You would hate everything about your country if you truly believed that. That is what these school teachers are teaching, and that is because it beneifits the very people who have kept the black community in servitude for all these years.

I would add that it has been my observation, too, that many black folks believe they forced Civil Rights and all the things that have been created over the last fifty years on a resistant white community by sheer force of will. They think they somehow used their strength to get these changes. I am always amazed when I point out that the black community could not force anything on the whtie community, being only one out of every five and in fact having been only one out of every ten people at the time the changes commenced. They cannot accept that white America had an epiphany and felt bad about how terribly they had treated the black community over the  years. They can't believe this because they have been maleducated to see nothing but plotting and evil from their white neighbors. So they continue to follow the same course which has caused them so much misery for the last fifty years and pull the lever for the Democrats. Then they grow angry at the fact nothing changes.

Little Ocean Warming

Al M

And here it is folks - a meaningful statistic... This is from NOAA...

The earth's ocean temperature IS a good measure of average global temperature. The oceans hold temp longer and they are much more well mixed than the atmosphere.

This graph says it all. The ocean temperatures have varied less than 1.2 degree Celsius over the past 150 or so years. That's INCREDIBLY STABLE.

To suggest that this is some sort of a catastrophe is mind-numbingly nonsensical.

It would be very interesting to study and understand what was going on between 1938 and 1945. Honestly, I'm guessing it was due to compromised measurement capability. That's right in the middle of WWII.

If we could figure out a way to accelerate this, maybe we could open up the Northwest passage for shipping traffic. That would take care of quite a number of issues, not the least of which are the delays to the shipping supply chain.

oscowitz
May be an image of text that says 'The Oceans Are Getting Warmer Annual divergence of global ocean temperature from 20th century average (1880-2020) +1.0C +0.8C +0.6C +0.4°C +0.76C +0.2C -0.02C 0.0℃ -0.2C -0.4°C -0.6C 1880 1890 1900 1910 1920 1930 1940 1950 1960 1970 1980 1990 2000 2010 2020 Ocean surface temperatures Source: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) statista'

Tim adds:

The lack of major ocean warming aka the "missing heat" is a huge embarassment for the warmists. They claimed the "pause" was the heat going into the oceans, but never were able to find it. Couple that to the other problems with the theory (such as the missing tropospheric hot spot) and you have something that does not describe reality. Normal science would have longago discarded this failed theory but the political and economic implications of this have kept it going and indeed seen that it prosper, with "the science is settled" being the rally cry for the proponents even while the science does not comport with the theory.
