Nascar's Bubba Wallace lied about the noose - or at best was horribly mistaken. It was fake noose.
From the Sporting News Nascar issued a statement saying the "noose" was a rope garage door handle that had been there for months. The FBI confirms that.
So is Bubba going to apologize? No; he's already said the fix is in.
Why? Nascar is a lilly white sport whose fan base is in the south. With other sports - football in particular - being hijacked by the "woke" people I guess Wallace felt it was time to attack the citadel of the Confederacy, Nascar.
I hope he loses all his sponsors. It's past time there were serious repercussions for this sort of calumny.
Bubba is sticking to his story. Maybe he can get together with Jussie Smollett.

First Wallace extorted NASCAR into issuing a ban on the Confederate flag, which it had already done in 2015. It immediately realized, back then, that it could not enforce that ban without driving away a large number of its fans, but Wallace put them in a bind, so it issues a new ban in 2020, pretending it had never issued the ban five years earlier.
Result: at the first race where fans are allowed there is a plane towing a banner with a confederate flag and the words "defund nascar.†There is a parade of pickup trucks just outside the speedway, circling the track, flying the confederate flag. NASCAR is, of course, powerless as they are not on the track’s property.
Wallace’s car has no sponsor, so Wallace gets his owner, Richard Petty, to paint the car black and letter it for "Black Lives Matter.†Announcers speak of the car being "sponsored by BLM,†which it was not. No money was paid by BLM, it was actually an unsponsored car lettered according to Bubba Wallace’s choice.
He finished well in that race because what white driver wants to take any chance whatever of being involved, or accused of, wrecking a "BLM sponsored†car, driven by "NASCAR’s only black driver?â€
Then along comes Talladega, which has garage door pull down ropes on all stalls, with loops tied in all of them. Nobody notices any of those ropes, or loops, all day Saturday while preparing cars for the Sunday race. Nobody notices them Sunday while taking the cars out and putting them back for the rained out race. Nobody notices 39 of them Sunday night, but does notice one of them on Bubba Wallace’s garage door, and starts screaming that we have a hate crime in progress.
The Federal Bureau of Ineptitude is shrewd enough to notice the other 39 ropes, and to see photos going back to November of last year that show the rope in stall #4 eight months ago, and tells everybody to calm down. Bubba Wallace refuses to calm down, saying that he knows a hate crime when he sees one and that he has raced out of hundreds of garages, none of which have ever had pull ropes.
Stay tuned for the next chapter in the continuing saga.

But of course, it's possible they don't like their president. Seems to me, though, like they're making it harder on themselves, because as you say, Bill, now they have to treat "Bubba" like a ticking time bomb on the track.

And I responded "I'm with you all the way. Too bad Jussie Smollett didn't experience a similar exposure."
