BLM and Antifa Vandalize WWII Memorial

Timothy Birdnow

It's disgraceful! These fools think America would be better had the Nazis won? Morons.

1 If only we could have torpedoed the teachers unions, way back then. I was a budding teacher, and the unions were one of the reasons I bailed. This was in the early to middle 1960s.

2 I'm in an online fight with a girl I knew from the old sod who is a unionized teacher, and she is arguing about how the mainstream media is all you can trust!  No wonder our kids are so messed up.

3 What frustrates me is not so much the tearing down of monuments, although their loss in some cases saddens me, but that these children think that doing it is so much of an accomplishment. How many people's minds will they change by that action? How many Robert E. Lee supporters will change their alliegance to Black lives Matter because one statue of Lee was torn down? What actual purpose is served by tearing down a statue?

4 No purpose at all, Bill -- as you and Tim and I know full well.

And, as we also know full well, far from being a reprehensible person, Robert E. Lee was an honorable man, who was torn between allegiance to his state and to his nation. None of us will ever truly know the agony he went through. Those of us who know the history of our country and of the time appreciate the gesture of Grant when he accepted Lee's surrender, and we are NOT happy to see his statues pulled down any more than we are happy to see Washington's statues -- and Grant's -- pulled down. We need them as reminders of the entire history of the country.

Lee was not treated as a traitor to the U.S., though Jefferson Davis was -- and realized he would be if the Confederacy lost the war.

5 Agreed. These stupid twerps are chock-full of righteous indignation over something they don't understand. It's the hallmark of our times. The ignorant have inherited the Earth.
