Trump may Skip Debates by the Presidential Commission

Timothy Birdnow

It's high time!

President Trump is suggesting he may dump the Monster Truck Pull sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates. The so-called "non-partisan" commission always seems to work against the GOP.

From Fox:

The president’s tweets appear to be in response to a report from the New York Times last week that Trump was talking with aides about skipping out on the debates because of his mistrust of the commission.

"The problem is that the so-called Commission on Presidential Debates is stacked with Trump Haters & Never Trumpers. 3 years ago they were forced to publicly apologize for modulating my microphone in the first debate against Crooked Hillary,” Trump tweeted on Monday.

Trump was referring to a problem with his microphone during his face-off in the September 2016 debate against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. In the spin room following the showdown and in an interview with Fox News, Trump complained to reporters that his mic was "defective” and questioned whether the malfunction was "on purpose.”

Following the debate, the commission issued a short statement saying, "Regarding the first debate, there were issues regarding Donald Trump’s audio that affected the sound level in the debate hall.”

And don't forget when Candy Crowley injected herself into the Presidential debate between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama? She broke in to tell Romney he was wrong and claiming she had proof in her briefcase over the Benghazi affair.

Anyone remember during the same election when George Stephanopoulis asked Mitt Romney about a "Republican War on Women" out of the blue? He started asking if Romney believed the federal government could ban contraception during a debate. This was not an issue and Romney was stunned.

Anyone remember Megyn Kelly's abusive behavior towards then candidate Donald Trump?

These are just three obvious examples of some of the bias we have seen since the establishment of this commission.

There is no reason to have mainstream media host these debates. Media people are  not proper hosts, and are always inserting themselves into the story. A proper host would simply announce the candidates and ask the questions, questions that he or she should not write.

I'm happy Trump is thinking of bagging this.

1 Where'd you get the idea he's thinking of skipping it? Debating weaklings is one of his favorite contact sports. He'd no more skip a debate with a Leftist than he'd give up Twitter. It's his Leftists haters who are accusing him of setting up to skip out.

2 He may not skip, but he may skip THEIR debate. And he should.  Make America Debate Again!  This time a real debate, not a phony commercial for Democrats.

3 If someone could indeed create a series of debates that they all felt obliged to go to, with a credible moderator or moderators -- what say you to Mark Levin and Steve Hilton for starters -- that would ask REAL questions, I'll bet a huge (YUGE) percentage of the country would tune in.

And yes, I'm obviously dreaming, here.

4 Even a truly impartial moderator would do. I would LOVE someone who would ask real, tough questions.

How much do you want to bet any debates held this next cycle will be all about Russia and if Trump tried abused his power. Nothing will be said about Biden and Ukraine, or the Steele Dossier, or the "mistakes" of the FBI. Or anything at all about the great economy. Or about building a wall.
