Push to End Religious Liberty in Missouri
Timothy Birdnow
The push is on to eliminate religious liberties in fvor of "sexual" liberties. This from Bev Ellen:
The Democratic Party has clearly laid out their intent to force Christians into subjugation to radical sexual deviancy. The Party's platform states, "We support a progressive vision of religious freedom that respects pluralism and rejects the misuse of religion to discriminate."
The "progressive vision" of religious liberty for Democrats was recently made visible by Chai Feldblum, the former commissioner of Obama administration's Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Feldblum clearly staked out the "progressive vision" of the Democratic Party when she said:
"I'm having a hard time coming up with any case in which religious liberty should win... Sexual liberty should win in most cases. There can be a conflict between religious liberty and sexual liberty, but in almost all cases the sexual liberty should win because that's the only way that the dignity of gay people can be affirmed in any realistic manner." (Emphasis added.)
Clearly what I experienced at the State Capitol at the Hearing on HB350 and HB208 which would add sexual orientation and gender identity to the Missouri Non-Discriminaton Act (MONA.)
If any person is following the trend, that person can clearly see where we are headed. The sad thing is the enemy of religious liberty is confident that most Christians in America aren't paying attention or have been convinced to stay away from politics
Republican members on the General Laws committee do not
understand the outcome of adding sexual orientation and gender identity
to the Missouri Non-Discriminat
ion
Act (MONA). HB350 and HB208 were heard in the General Laws committee
(chaired by Rep. Dean Plocher) on Wednesday, May 8. Adding Gender
Identity to MONA would seal this type of situation for girls in
Missouri. Not to mention affect the adoption cases of Catholic
Charities and Missouri Baptist Children's Home and other Christian
adoption agencies in Missouri, would affect Christian business owners
such as those who serve weddings or retreats or print t-shirts or
brochures or invitations who live out their faith 24/7 or an owner of a
Christian Day Care who wouldn't want to hire anyone living outside of
God's plan for sexuality-a single person in a romantic relationship
living with a person of the opposite sex, a person living in the
homosexual lifestyle or a transgender. Not to mention that pedophilia
is a sexual orientation. Yes, it is not only right but desired that an
owner of any day care wouldn't want to be made to hire a pedophile as
an employee. But every Democrat on that committee supports HB350/HB208
and several Republicans are reacting emotionally to the issue and can
be swayed by taking the easy way out and voting do pass on these bills.
Last year, two Republicans joined with the Dems on the committee (the
committee make up was a bit different) to vote the bill do - pass.
Chairman Robert Cornejo (now Director of Missouri Labor Relations
Dept.) and Rep. Jean Evans (now Executive Director of the Missouri
Republican Party) were the two Republicans that gave MONA a win last
session. Here are the members of General Laws this year. Rep. Dean
