Tim and Cats' Excellent Adventure

Timothy Birdnow

Went to Rock Eddy Bluff Farm for my birthday. Wonderful, remote place with very private, isolated cabins on the bluffs overlooking the Gasconade river in central Missouri. I would have gone to the Ozark Hilton, but my dear wife is spoiled rotten, demanding such wild luxuries as electricity, indoor toilets, and running water, so we compromised and went to REBF.

Cat and I had gone there what seems like five years ago but was actually probably twenty. The owners are very nice people who really enjoy living out the the sticks. They have some very nice cabins, some with electricity and water and some without (we opted for the former, of course.) They are equipped with everything; just bring your food and you are set. We brought some good steaks for Friday and some bratwurst and hot dogs for Saturday. They supplied breakfast - left eggs, potatoes, onions, etc. for a hearty morning meal. I took the precaution of bringing bottled water, but their water was fine (I figured it would be moldy tasting well water.) While they had a wood stove they also had electric baseboard heat. It was not exactly glamping but it was easy living camping. I could make do living in a place like that (I doubt my dear sweet wife care for that simple life, though.)

They didn't have any normal television, but they did have streaming Netflix and I spent the evening hours binge watching Breaking Bad (never saw it) and drinking my Makers Mark or the wine I brought. Wonderfully relaxing!

Speaking of wine, we stopped in St. James and hit the Meramec Vineyards winery. The wines weren't that great, and I had wanted to go to Heinrichhaus winery instead, but it was a bit too far off and I wanted to make sure it didn't get too late before we arrived. So I grabbed a bottle of Norton and Chambourcin and added it to my port and Bourbon collection. Had the Norton with my rib eye, and the Chambroucin with the hot dogs.

About the only thing I actually did was hike down to the river (well, some of the way down; I realized I would never make it up alive so turned around - and barely made it up alive - tough climb! They did put benches along the trail so you could rest, but I still feared cardiac arrest by the end of the hike.)

At any rate all I did was barbecue, drink whiskey, sit on the porch, smoke my Dominican cigar, and watch Breaking Bad. Wonderfully relaxing!

Unfortunately the truck wouldn't start when it was time to leave! I had to call AAA and get towed the hundred twenty plus some-odd miles back home. Miserable ending, but it worked out. I could have been at the Ozark Hilton where no tow truck could reach, so I was lucky. (Never had any mechanical troubles with that vehicle until yesterday. Was it trying to tell us we should stay there?) I was very thankful to get home and took a three hour nap.  It was a tiring weekend, for certain!  But well worth it. I always love getting away from the massing throngs. I didn't hear one siren, or even a car other than the ones owned by our hosts. It was so very peaceful!

I understand the addiction some people have for true rural living. With modern technology it's possible to live as well as any city dweller. I would move out to the sticks today if I didn't have an army of medical professionals insisting I visit them every month. Baahh! A pox upon them!  But they are keeping me alive and making sure I can still see. If I were to move out to the country I would have a hard time getting my medication, seeing my doctors, etc. It's a pity; I'm stuck with the herd. Oh well.

At any rate, that's where I've been.

Tulsi Gabbard fights back against Comrade Clinton’s smear attempts

Dana Mathewson

Yes, she does, and hard and fast at that. Darn, I wish she were on our side, but no matter. The enemy of our enemy is, at least not our friend, but somebody we can relate to. This is a very well-written article.

From the vast right-wing conspiracy to the vast Russian conspiracy — Hillary Clinton has journeyed a long way in her tinfoil hat over the last 20 years, and the road has been all downhill.

And now the failed kleptocrat is all in on the blame game, naming names, throwing everybody under the bus, especially liberal females.

And the most delicious part is that the accused Russkie assets are firing back.

Take it away, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-HI.

"Great! Thank you, @Hillary Clinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain.”

I wish I’d written that last sentence. It is a perfect summation of Hillary’s 72 squalid years on the planet.

Me too, sir, me too!

She was on a podcast with an Obama stooge named David Plouffe when suddenly she began ranting about the perfidious Russians, or Republicans, or somebody. She went full Joe McCarthy. The only thing missing was her waving around a list with a bunch of names of "known Communists” on it.

"They’re going to do third-party again,” Hillary hissed. "I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic Party and are grooming her to be their third-party candidate.”

Grooming her? You mean, like Bill Clinton… groomed Monica Lewinsky?

Ouch! That was a zinger for sure!

"She’s a favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far. That’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she is also a Russian asset.”

Jill Stein a Russian asset? The Green Party presidential candidate in 2016 led the "recount” effort after the election. Granted, the attempt was kinda half-hearted, except for the fundraising piece. But still, Stein spearheaded the left’s first attempt to derail Donald Trump, even before the faithless electors, the emoluments clause, the Logan Act, the 25th amendment, the Russia hoax, the Ukraine hoax …

Now, though, Jill Stein, the Betsy Ross, the Rosa Parks of the Resistance, is a "Russian asset.”

[...]

Tulsi, though, was even more thoroughly slimed. She’s hanging in on the presidential field by a fingernail, at 2 percent or less in most polls. Yet right before the CNN debate last week in Ohio, the New York Times ran what Tulsi described as a "Greatest Hits” smear piece on her, describing her as "a potentially useful vector for Russian efforts to sow division within the Democratic party.”

In her response tweets, Tulsi went straight at Hillary:

"From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know – it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine afraid of the threat I pose.”

Remember, Hillary is the one who signed off on selling Russian-connected parties 20% of the US uranium supply, after which the Clinton Foundation got more than $100 million in "donations” and Bill pocketed $500,000 cash for speeches to Moscow banks controlled by Putin-allied oligarchs.

Why would the Russians have ever supported Donald Trump when they already knew that they could, uh, do business with the Clintons? They say Vladimir Putin is a gangster, and he probably is, so let me ask you: since when do gangsters want to replace crooked cops they’ve already bribed, and therefore own?

Why take a chance with a potentially honest new cop on the beat?

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

The rest of this wonderfully snarky article (I wish I could write like this person does -- if I could I wouldn't have to pirate other peoples' stuff) is found here: https://www.bostonherald.com/2019/10/19/tulsi-gabbard-fights-back-against-comrade-clintons-smear-attempts/ Please read it and have a great time with it!

Unplugging

Timothy Birdnow

I'm going to take a day or two off; today marks the anniversary of my abrupt entry into this world, and I want to unplug for a day or two. Dana and Jack will hopefully keep y'all company (a little Ozark Hilton lingo) in my stead.

I bought a bottle of Makers Mark and some Missouri Port wine and intend to enjoy them both, along with some fine cigars from The Hill Cigar Company.

Syrial Killer

Timothy Birdnow

Lester Dolt, er, Holt had this to say about the Turkey/Kurd situation:

Turkey is demanding that the Kurds lay down their weapons or it won’t stop its invasion of Northern Syria, but President Trump says that’s the business of Russia and Syria, whose forces are now in Kurdish territories after the U.S. was ordered out.

On Facebook a bit of an argument erupted over Trump's pullout from Syria. A guy named Jeff observed:

That is the best thing I've heard all day... Let them sort it out

There were only 50-100 troops they all would have been what... Slaughtered ? Sometimes allies need to be reconsidered...
I mean we have to forget about this and make America 🇺🇸 first.

A woman named Mandy snarkily replied:

Jeff, you do realize we're not America at all worth Jack ship without our allies right?? We are absolutely nothing without the channels we have in this world and if we alienate those channels we truly are ....Somalia....
North Korea...... Iran..... because we have no allies whatsoever because we're a junk country because we alienated everybody else.... do you really and truly not understand that this is why America First does not work??really

A guy named Mike jumped in:

You wouldn't look so foolish if you spent five minutes doing the research that shows NOBODY in either party thinks Trump did the right thing by abandoning our allies.

Our old buddy Wil Wirtanen replied:

Jeff is correct. If the Demented Democrats protected our borders as much as they want to protect the Syrian border we would not have the problems we now have. Besides if Nag Nancy wants our troops to be involved bring up a vote to go to war. Also wasn't these Hypocrites wanting us out of Syria.

I replied:

  • Mandy your claim that we "aren't jack ship without our allies" is undefensible. In point of fact our allies aren't "jack ship" without US. WE are the ones who do all the heavy lifting in the world. We pay all the bills. Ask yourself; are the Chinese nothing because they don't involve themselves in everyone else's wars? You need to look a little closer at modern history.
  • BTW, the Kurds are not a monolithic bunch. In fact, the PKK are MARXISTS and we are idiots if we help them. There are some who are Islamists too. It's like thinking all Native Americans were the same and then trying to eliminate them as we did in the Nineteenth century. There was no "indian" but a whole lot of different nations. You want to lump the Kurds together in the same fashion then say we "abandoned" them. It is not so

and another:
  • Alliences are not marriages. Oh, and who cares what the architects of bad policy think, Michael Austin? And by "everyone in Washington" you mean all the journalists and Democrats, don't you! Look around; people like Rand Paul are on board with Trump's actions. You haven't heard of any of them because the media dutifully doesn't report them.
  • It is fair to disagree with this policy, but it should be done because being IN Syria is good policy, not because you simply hate Trump and oppose him to oppose him. Our Syria policy has been rudderless since Obama/Clinton started pushing for regime change there. We have no long term plan - just endless warfare in a civil war that is not our own. Had we not gotten involved in the first place and created a power vacuum we would not have seen the rise of ISIS, the invasion of Europe by "refugees", or the troubles the Kurds are facing. As it is, we have to have an exit strategy, and people who opposed Bush in Iraq now demand Trump continue endless war. If you really believe that, that is fine, but you have to explain what we are trying to accomplish, how we will do so, and how we will get out.
  • You demanded it of Bush when he intervened; why not ask that of the Democrats now?

The Hunt for Biden

The good folks at Conservative HQ give us some details on the corruption of Hunter Biden[link] and his fathers' influence.

Here are a few snippets:

The same year that Barack Obama and Joe Biden took over the White House in 2009, a general partnership formed that brought together Hunter Biden, son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, Christopher Heinz, stepson of then-Sen. John Kerry (later to be Secretary of State), and Devon Archer, a classmate of Heinz’s from Yale.

What did Hunter Biden put into the partnership except his father's name?

As conservative author Peter Schweizer details in his book "Secret Empires,” Biden and Archer, along with James Bulger of the consultancy firm the Thornton Group, took several meetings in 2010 with high-profile business and government interests in China. As Rudy Giuliani has pointed out, James Bulger is the nephew of mobster Whitey Bulger and the son of former Massachusetts state Sen. Billy Bulger.

Schweizer came across an account of the meetings posted by the Thornton Group — in Chinese — in which Chinese executives expressed their "warm welcome” to the "Thornton Group, with its US partner Rosemont Seneca chairman Hunter Biden (second son of the now Vice President Joe Biden).” According to the Thornton Group’s account — a copy of which Schweizer emailed to FactCheck.org — the purpose of the meetings was to "explore the possibility of commercial cooperation and opportunity.”

[...]

It is a documented fact that Hunter Biden did serve on BHR’s original board of directors while his father was vice president, but his attorney told the Washington Post that Biden was on the board of the advisory firm that did not directly invest, but instead advised those who did. The younger Biden, through his attorney, also denied doing any business when he accompanied his father to China, even though he set-up a photo with his father and one of his Chinese associates.

So, Joe Biden becomes Obama’s "point man” on Ukraine and suddenly Hunter gets a $50,000 a month seat on the board of a controversial Ukrainian energy company. Then Biden takes his son Hunter to China and Hunter’s company later inks a billion-dollar deal with China, but there’s nothing illegal going on say, Biden and his attorneys.

Read the entire article; it gives a great view of what transpired.

Elijah Cummings Dead

Timothy Birdnow

Maryland Democrat Congressman Elijah Cummings has passed away. He was 68 years old.

The cause of death was merely given as "health challenges". He had been treated for heart valve problems in the past. Cummings was known to use a walker and motorized cart.

The man was a first rank POS and one of the worst partisans in Washington, and he had a lot to answer for when he met his maker. In spite of his illness he was one of the leaders trying to impeach Donald Trump, ignoring his family in favor of spending his last moments on Earth in a power struggle.

Sadly, but not unexpectedly, condolences poured in from Republicans. Liz Chaney had this to say;

"The news that our friend and colleague Elijah Cummings has passed away marks a sad day for the members of the United States Congress, the people of Baltimore, and the entire nation,"

Now, I don't see any point in speaking ill of the dead in such a circumstance, but why celebrate such a man? Cummings was as partisan as they get. While I feel sorry for his family, and hope his immortal soul eventually finds peace, I am not going to mourn his loss from this Earth. He did little good while here. His district is one of the poorest hell holes in the country, while Cummings himself has a net worth in excess of $1.3 million. (He had been heavily in debt, too, but suddenly was buying investment property and stocks at a prodigious rate.)

He had been the ranking Minority member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, and ran interference for Obama there. He was Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus and a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. He was a big supporter of Black Lies Muttered, er, Black Lives Matter.

Cummings was also corrupt. His wife - the Party Chair in Maryland - ran a pay for play scheme, selling influence with Cummings and nearly sending the old boy to prison. Naturally, once you are in the Establishment you don't go to the slammer, so Cummings got off on this.He also colluded with Lois Lerner to use the IRS to suppress opposition groups. Cummings was illegally receiving tax information from the IRS about True the Vote. And he used his power on the House Oversight Committee to protect Lerner and the IRS thuggery.

Cummings' wife also appears to have embezzled funds intended to fight child obesity. From the article:

The complaint said that Rockeymoore Cummings—who also is currently head of the Maryland Democratic Party and a former gubernatorial candidate in the state—may have misused funds from a multi-million-dollar grant to fight childhood obesity through her nonprofit Center for Global Policy Solutions and directed them instead to the for-profit consulting firm, Global Policy Solutions, LLC.

The complaint says that the two entities blurred the lines with shared office space and telephone lines, in flagrant violation of tax laws.

Ironically, given Rep. Cummings’s own dogged threats of subpoenas against the current White House over tax documents, another complaint cited against his wife’s operation was the refusal to turn over an IRS 990 financial disclosure form.

I can't say he'll be missed. But then, his replacement is liable to be worse.

Postscript: I found NONE of this information from a Google search; had to go to Duckduckgo to get any of this. Also, none of it is in Cummings' Wikipedia page, either. Censorship? You betcha!

Why We Should Stay Out of Syria

Timothy Birdnow

Robert Romano explains why we should stay out of Syria.

From the article:

The current operation by the Turks does mark an escalation, but it is also nothing new.

Within a week, Turkey has moved ahead with its invasion of Syria and fired nearby U.S. positions in Syria, highlighting the danger. The U.S. has since announced that almost all forces are completely withdrawing from that country.

On Oct. 14, Trump asked on Twitter very pointedly, "Do people really think we should go to war with NATO Member Turkey?”

That is actually a great question, and underscores President Trump’s relatively cautious approach to the Syrian conflict. Turkey has been a part of NATO since 1952.

When Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974, the U.S. arguably faced a far worse situation because it was two NATO allies, Greece and Turkey, in a conflict and even then the U.S. sided with Turkey. By comparison, this situation doesn’t come close.

Legally, whose side are we on? The NATO treaty says Turkey. We don’t have any treaty with the Kurds — their assistance in the Iraq war and later against Islamic State notwithstanding — and we certainly don’t have one to defend Syria from invasion by Turkey or anybody else. Nor does the U.S. officially recognize the independence of Kurdistan.

Now none of that absolves Turkey from its responsibilities under the United Nations Charter including obligations to maintain international peace and stability and to not invade other countries. But we’d have a hard argument to make, since Article I declarations of war and authorizations to use military force have not been used since 2001 and 2002, when authorizations to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq were adopted.

[...]

Turkey said they were going in and Trump was left to either leave U.S. troops in harm’s way or to deconflict and move them out of the way. He opted for the latter and has since threatened sanctions if Turkey does not limit its operations.

Trump Leading with a Third of Black Male Voters

Timothy Birdnow

32% of black males will vote Trump, According to a new Hill/Harris X Poll.

That is shocking, and spells doom for the Democrats next year.

Of course, this was a matchup between Trump and a generic candidate, and those numbers will undoubtedly fall after the Democrats pick a candidate. Also, much can happen between now and then.

Still, the Democratic coalition never could allow for as little as a ten percent defection of black voters. If Trump manages to pick off a quarter of them it will be game over.

Public Schools may Force Christian Children to recite the Shahada

Timothy Birdnow

The Supreme Court has declined to take a case involving a public school teacher who is forcing Christian students to recite the shahada or receive a failing grade.

The shahada is a recitation of faith in Islam "there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet".

According to the article:

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the teacher did not violate the Establishment Clause.

Wood also had been forced to view a series of Islam-promoting PowerPoint slides, including one casting aspersions on Christians that said, "Most Muslims' faith is stronger than the average Christian."

The teacher's actions were condemned in court by the high school's content specialist, Jack Tuttle.

Advertisement - story continues below

Richard Thompson, Thomas More's chief counsel, said he's "not aware of any public school which has forced a Muslim student to write the Lord's Prayer or John 3:16: 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.'"

"Yet, under the pretext of teaching history or social studies, public schools across America are promoting the religion of Islam in ways that would never be tolerated for Christianity or any other religion," he said. "It's disappointing that the Supreme Court did not take this opportunity to clarify the test which lower courts should use when ruling on establishment clause and free speech challenges to public school classes on religion."

Yet the allegedly "right wing" Court refused to take this up.

A Christian teacher should now do likewise, making his class recite Biblical passages and then see if the Court still ignores this issue. I'll bet they do not.

In modern America some are more equal than others. If you are white, Christian, and male you have no rights at all in the minds of the Progressives.

The Trayvon Hoax, a new book and documentary film

by Jack Kemp

There is a book and movie called "The Trayvon Hoax" by Joel Gilbert about the frauds in the Trayvon Martin case. The heavyset woman "witness," Rachel Jeantel (who could not read cursive), was not the real girlfriend of Trayvon called "Diamond Eugene."

Here is the trailer to the documentary film.

And here's a kicker for you. Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon's mother, is running for a Commissioner of Miami-Dade County. Guess which Democrat Presidential hopeful is campaigning for her. Townhall.com reports that it is none other than Hillary Clinton herself. The article states:

Hillary’s endorsement of Sybrina Fulton is no small thing. Rather, it is a significant piece in Hillary’s long history of promoting lies, hoaxes and the odious manipulation of events in order to advance her party’s political fortunes. That history ranges from Hillary’s trashing of women with whom her husband had affairs or had sexually assaulted, to preposterously claiming she’d come under sniper fire as First Lady while visiting Bosnia...

Hypocrisy of Harris

Timothy Birdnow

After sending over a thousand people to prison for drug offenses, Kamala Harris now calls the War on Drugs a failure but at the same time wants to imprison drug manufacturers because people have misused painkillers.

From the Federalist:

During a discussion on the opioid crisis at the CNN/New York Times Democratic primary debate, Sen. Kamala Harris unintentionally reminded us of her propensity towards imprisoning. Harris joined many of her fellow candidates in swearing to send to prison all of the executives at pharmaceutical companies who were involved in actively propagating the opioid crisis. It’s clear the former prosecutor still loves sending people to prison.

Strange; these drug executives did nothing but sell a legal product. If anyone is guilty of anything it would be the liberals who promoted easy access to opioids back in the nineties.

Maybe Kamie needed a little help to get by as she was climbing to the top under Willie Brown.

Happy Columbus Day!

Timothy Birdnow

Happy Columbus Day!  He was a great Italian, even if a bit thick.

He WAS thick; the man argued the world was half the size that everyone else knew it to be. None of the crowned heads of Europe would finance his trip because they knew he was wrong, not because they thought he would fall of the edge of the world as the Left wing now claims (people knew the world was round since the ancient Greeks and there are statues of Jesus standing on a globe dating back to well into the Middle Ages.) Columbus was lucky; I suspect Queen Isabella was more interested in Columbus' Latin passions than his geographical ideas. Still, they gave him three crumby ships that were not suited for long-range travel just to get rid of him. He got monumentally lucky, finding a new continent - and no realizing he had done so. He went to his grave believing he was in the East Indies.

But God bless him! His voyages and later governing of the lands he found ended the tyrannical scourges of the Aztecs, the human sacrifice of the Mayans, and brought civilization with all its attendant benefits - to a number of savage and warlike peoples. Cannibalism, human sacrifice, torture were not at all uncommon in the pre-Columbian days.

God bless him! more...

Shepard Smith leaving Fox

Timothy Birdnow

I know this is a little dated but I just wanted to say it! Buh-bye, Shepard Smith! Don't let the door hit you on  the backside as you leave!

Shepard Smith Makes Shocking Announcement that he is Leaving Fox News

I despise the man, who has become increasingly liberal. He often sneers and rolls his eyes and stands up for the Left when he is ostensibly doing the news. I'm very glad to see this creep go. If he wants to be on NBC he's welcome there; we need at least one network that is actually on OUR side.

It is believed Smith is leaving because he has been in conflict with the opinion hosts on the network - people like Hannity or Gutfeld or Brett Baer etc.

He was supposedly mad when Tucker Carlson attacked him on air.

ANTIFA is an Internal Terrorist Organization

Timothy Birdnow

Time for Patriots to Declare War on Antifa

From the article:

The time for President Trump to take action on ANTIFA in labeling the organization an international terrorist organization is long overdue. It is an international terrorist group, since it also operates in many European countries as well as the United Kingdom aside from the US. ANTIFA is only part of a much larger spiderweb of anti-American terrorist groups, all founded and organized by Barack H. Obama and run via the central organization known as Organizing For Action.

AG Barr blasts 'militant secularists' in speech on religious freedom

Dana Mathewson

U.S. Attorney General Barr is not afraid to cross the supposed wall of "separation of church and state." Thank goodness! We need more like him, in and out of government. Needless to say, he'll be uninvited to all the best cocktail parties in Georgetown, and I doubt it bothers him one bit.

Attorney General William Barr blasted "militant secularists" and their attacks on Judeo-Christian values in a blistering speech at Notre Dame Friday, saying "religion has been under increasing attack" over the past five decades.

Barr, a devout Catholic, told students and faculty at the university's law school that "the problem is not that religion is being forced on others, the problem is that irreligion is being forced — secular values are being forced on people of faith."

"Among the militant secularists are many so-called progressives,” he said. "But where is the progress? We are told we are living in a post-Christian era, but what has replaced the Judeo-Christian moral system? What is it that can fill the spiritual void in the hearts of the individual person? And what is the system of values that can sustain human social life?”

Barr contends that many of society's ills are caused because of the breakdown of religion in society.

"This is not decay," he said. "This is organized destruction. Secular forces and their allies have marshaled all the forces of mass communication, popular culture, the entertainment industry, and academia, in an unremitting assault on religion and traditional values."

Barr said "ground zero" for the attacks is the schools, pointing to New Jersey's passage of a law requiring public schools to adopt LGBT curriculum.

This is great! Please read the entire article (not long) here: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ag-barr-blasts-militant-secularists-attacks-on-religious-freeom

Glacial Age

Mark Musser makes the following observations:

In an age of Global Warming, particularly between 1980-2004 in which temperatures did lean warm, how long does it take to create and actually grow a brand new glacier in Washington State? Not millennia, and not even centuries - but only two decades as the Crater Glacier on Mt. St. Helens (which blew up in 1980) was formed that grew to be more than 600 feet thick by the mid 2000's. In reality there are two glaciers now formed that have wrapped around the lava dome. This is all the more remarkable because of the low elevation in which the Crater Glacier sits - between about +7,000 feet at the top and down to +6,000 feet at its terminus. The glacier is also about a mile long. Granted the glacier grew on the north side of the mountain as glaciers love the northern slopes the best in the the northern hemisphere. It is also true that the lava dome, not to mention lots of rocks, provide lots of extra shade and protection from melting. More than likely as well, the prevailing winds in the winter dump all kinds of extra snow into the the middle of Mt. St. Helen's crater - and the lava dome grew that squeezed the glacier so that it became significantly thicker than normal.

Yet such facts should be all over the news, but perish the thought. One recent article from a few years ago acknowledged the glacial growth, but said it would not last. That may or may not be, but I can verify that most of the warming that took place in the Cascades was between 1985-1996. Snowfalls since that time have returned to 'normal' levels for the most part with only two exceptionally dry winters since that time. And yet during the warmest time in the late 1980's and early to mid 1990's, glaciers on Mt. St. Helens still slowly grew.

There is too much apocalypticism in the environmental sciences these days to be taken seriously. They have been crying wolf for so many decades now that I don't even listen to it anymore. What used to be laughed at with the likes of date setters akin to Harold Camping among Christian circles about the end of the world, is now mainstream leftist politics as the green horseman of the apocalypse looms on the horizon. And yes, the fourth horseman of the apocalypse is a green horse in the original Greek. The better translation should read, "I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, 'Come.' And I looked, and behold, a green horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. And authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth (Revelation 6:7-8)." Much of the judgments connected to this horse are related to environmentalis m today. The Bible predicts that a time is coming when people will no longer be able to defend themselves from the wild animals who will devour a sizable portion of the earth's population. And yes, this will occur during a time of unprecedented global warming - but we are not there yet ....

The dropping of the atomic bomb in 1945 Japan made science apocalyptic, but rather than take seriously the originator of apocalypticism - the Bible - people have rushed headlong into forms of scientific fiction that are far more foolish than anything the Bible has ever stated. Yet people believe that madness over the good book. The hardness of heart we are seeing today is off the charts and is at the very core of the hardened political hostility we see being paraded right and left - pun intended, "For thus the Lord, the God of Israel, says to me, 'Take this cup of the wine of wrath from My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it. And they shall drink and stagger and go mad because of the sword that I will send among them (Jeremiah 25:15-16).'"
