Liberals are not to be outdone in their stupidity. Take this as a prime example; instead of arming professors at schools or hiring armed guards to protect against active shooter situations a university in Detroit is handing out - hockey pucks.

From the NY Post article: "Because Oakland University has a no-weapons policy, university Police Chief Mark Gordon suggested using a hockey puck to distract a shooter."

The first thing that came to my mind was a hockey puck. I was a hockey coach for my kids growing up. I remember getting hit in the head with a hockey puck once and it hurt,” Gordon told Detroit’s FOX 2.

Gordon said to fight effectively, faculty and students need to be prepared to throw heavy objects that will cause a distraction. Gordon said pucks fit the bill and can conveniently be carried in briefcases or backpacks.

"At Gordon’s suggestion, Professor Tom Discenna, president of the faculty union, spearheaded an effort to purchase 2,500 hockey pucks for union members and students, the Detroit Free Press reported.

"Eight hundred of them have been distributed to our faculty members and there’s an additional 1,700 that I’m working with student congress to distribute to our students,” Discenna told FOX 2.

I wonder; ice hockey is predominantly white and how long will it take before someone notices that this discriminates against students of color? And what if the shooter is him/her/zhe self a student of color? The ultimate white privilege would be to pelt a non-white shooter with hockey pucks.

I might point out that one would need a good throwing arm to hit a guy with a gun with a hockey puck. And while you are throwing, I rather suspect he will be shooting. I think he has the upper hand here.

Wouldn't a gun be a better alternative? Or at least a can of pepper spray.

I wonder; if Oakland U. has a "no weapons policy" what exactly does that policy define as a weapon? Shouldn't a hard round object capable of drawing blood be considered a weapon? Maybe instead they should issue wiffle balls...

This is ridiculous; a feel-good attempt to make it appear the University isn't simply leaving the students undefended. How many are going to lug around hockey pucks? How many will be able to get to them in a timely fashion? Wouldn't a billy club or a sling shot be better? Or a knife; at least you could throw a knife.

Again, I say this is nothing but white privilege. Throwing hockey pucks at people could eventually lead to hockey games, which could lead to drinking Canadian beer and getting into fist fights on the ice. Before you know it the students will be using hurtful racial epithets like "Hoser", will insult people of color with "eh" , will start wearing white cultural things like big furry hats, and in the end non-whites will find they are no longer welcome at this University.

And of course hockey pucks are themselves symbols of oppression; hard BLACK objects used to humiliate others by scoring in an act of racial supremacy and they are beaten endlessly with wooden sticks like a black man at a lynching. White men beating a black object with a stick sets a very bad precedent.

Oh, and so many hockey players are missing teeth from kissing the puck. It's as though interracial smooches will give damage your mouth! Shouldn't we end this sort of stereotype once and for all? A kiss should be a pleasant thing. Maybe the students should be throwing stuffed bunnies or something.
