Donald Trump appealing the excessive bond ($464 million dollars) imposed on him by political hack in robes judge Erdogen,er, Engoran in what is a monumental shakedown and election tampering scheme. Engoran says Trump cannot appeal the ruling until he pays the bond, limiting the higher courts and at the same time violating basic constitutional protections.
The eighth amendment to the Constitution of the United States says "Excessive bail shall not be required , nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
Half a billion dollars - and this after the judge just imposed it without a trial - unquestionably is excessive.
The New York State constitution is almost identical:
Article I - Bill Of Rights . Section 5 - Bail; fines; punishments; detention of witnesses. Excessive bail shall not be required nor excessive fines imposed, nor shall cruel and unusual punishments be inflicted, nor shall witnesses be unreasonably detained.
Yet in this hyperpartisan era Trump will probably lose his appeal in state court and be forced to appeal to the Federal bench.
This is exactly what we see in dictatorships. Amnesty International criticized the Russian Federation bitterly for eroding the right to assembly, yet here we are eroding the right tobe free of excessive bail and nary a peep from them.
These people must be held to account. Erdogan needs to be hauled before Congress.
