Trump's Broken Promises

Timothy Birdnow

President Donald Trump, despite his promises to stop any amnesty for illegal aliens, has chosen not to appeal a San Francisco pseudo-judge's ruling that the President may not end the Obama executive order forcing America to keep these illegal aliens brough here when young. According to the Reuters article:

" U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday blasted the federal court system as "broken and unfair” after a judge blocked his administration’s move to end a program protecting young immigrants brought to the United States illegally by their parents.

A U.S. District Court judge in San Francisco ruled late on Tuesday that Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, which Trump has said he will end, should remain in effect until legal challenges brought in multiple courts are resolved. "

End excerpt.

As of yet no appeal has been made by the Trump Administration, something that is necessary if he wants to end the program. It is also necessary to have the threat of ending the program to leverage the Democrats in Congress. If Trump fails to appeal he will be handing the cards to Congressional Democrats. Why isn't he moving quickly to appeal this? Does he think it will take DACA off the table so the Dems won't shut the government down? If that is the case it means he will get nothing in return. May as well just ask Chuck Schumer to write immigration policy.

This isn't the first time the Trump Administration has failed to appeal iimportant rulings by overreaching courts. After an appeals court ruling went against him in December the Administration decided not to appeal further and is allowing the Obama policy of openly transvestite people to serve in the U.S. military. This act of monumental cowardice on the part of the Administration was a betrayal of the working class who elected the President. And now we have Trump caving on DACA.

He already caved on ending Obamacare.

How many more campaign promises and expectations will President Trump break?

Let us take a gander at some of his broken promises:

1.Build a wall and make Mexico pay for it.
2.Repeal Obamacare.
3.End DACA.
4.No Amnesty.
5.Drain the swamp. He's filled his Administration with Goldman Sachs people, with Mitch McConnell's wife, with innumerable other swamp rats, including appointing Robert Mueller, keeping numerous Obama holdovers, and making Reince Preibus his Chief of Staff.
6.Lock her up. After his election Trump said Hillary had suffered enough and made no effort to pursue investigations against her. Had the Clintons not attacked him Trump would have been content to let her off the hook, despite being a criminal.
7. End NAFTA. Trump promised to rid us of that and hasn't even looked to touch it.
8. Trump promised to end the Iran deal, then recertified it.
9. Promised to defund Planned Parenthood, or at least the abortion side of it. Didn't happen.
10.Ban foreign lobbyists in American elections. No action there.

These were all major promises that have come to nothing. Now Trump may yet try to fulfill some or all of them, and he has faced stiffer opposition than any President in my lifetime, but I fear much of this was more campaign promise than something Trumplestiltskin planned to do.

Over at Daren Jonescu's sight Daren calls Trump a cloud image, something signifying nothing but seen as something, a sort of Rohrshacht inkblot. That was certainly true of Barack Obama and he encouraged it, and it may well be true of Trump, who does seem to look to do just enough to keep his base happy but not so much as to anger the Elites who have opposed him. Maybe it's because his daughter and son in law are wannabees and they have undue influence over him. I don't know. I DO know that Trump Has been fairly disappointing on a number of issues. I say fairly because he's done a lot of good on others, be they judges or overturning many of Obama's executive orders. But he's left a lot of Obama edicts in place, too. CAFE standards, for instance, or EPA rules on "designer blends" for gasoline, which drive gas prices up and cause a nightmare of red tape.

Donald Trump is not a man who will win re-election if he fails to keep his promises. Other politicians can get away with that because they can dance and sidestep and the media may cover for them, but Trump has no cover and can't dance anyway. It is do or die for him. I fear he is more dying than doing. We need to keep his feet to the fire.

Good government is key to making America great again; if we are to be great we must have a government that is good, and to have that we must have a chief executive who does what he says. Trump had better get a move on or he will be a one term President.
