The Big Green Lie

This from Dr. Roy Spencer:

BBC4 Radio vs. Rush Limbaugh: I talked with an Exxon-Mobil retiree this week, and what he told me agrees with this summary... Exxon never had a disinformation campaign to reposition global warming "fact" as theory. There is no Exxon memo claiming such a thing. There was instead a proposal to Exxon by a PR company, which Exxon rejected. Exxon scientists knew that global warming theory was out there, but when they investigated the details they were (as people who understood computer modeling and good engineering practices) unconvinced, and knew that destroying the world's primary source of energy without good reason was a mistake. Now, 30 years later, the uncertainty of human-caused warming is just as uncertain as it originally was in the 1979 Charney Report. BBC also includes some outright falsehoods in their podcast. Shoddy, alarmist, one-sided journalism.

BBC Radio 4 v. Rush Limbaugh "How They Made Us Doubt Everything" Episode 6 "Reposition Global Warming as Theory not Fact"

... the repeated comparison of those of us who don't agree with alarmist claims about climate change to "tobacco scientists" borders on libel.

A word from Tim:

To quote Carl Sandburg "If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell”.Seems both the facts and the law are against the Gang Green here, so they are making a full-scale attack and yelling like hell. I see this as a measure of their desperation. But of course the media will promote this thing to the hilt and try to get people to believe Big Oil is funding "denial" science (while ignoring the fact Big Government and Big Green and Big Corporations are funding the Climate Change industry.)

1 Many thanks for bringing this political angle to the attention of your readers, and for repeating Dr Spencer's link to my own guest post at WUWT, which was actually a piece originally posted at my GelbspanFiles blog. Rush Limbaugh reacted to the BBC's podcast, and I'll detail more about that at my blog tomorrow, August 4.
