Media Pre-Spinning I.G. Report

Timothy Birdnow

MSN is attempting to sew discord by claiming Attorney General William Barr is unhappy with the upcoming Inspector General's report.

From MSN:

People familiar with the draft language of Horowitz’s report said that while it is critical of some FBI employees, and found some systemic problems in surveillance procedures, it overall does not agree with Trump’s charge that the investigation was a "witch hunt” or a politically motivated attack on him first as a candidate and then as president.

Instead, the draft report found that the investigation was opened on a solid legal and factual footing, these people said.

Part of Barr’s reluctance to accept that finding is related to another investigation, one being conducted by the U.S. attorney in Connecticut, John Durham, into how intelligence agencies pursued allegations of Russian election tampering in 2016. Barr has traveled abroad to personally ask foreign officials to assist Durham in that work. Even as the inspector general’s review is ending, Durham’s investigation continues.

Barr’s disagreement with Horowitz will probably spark further criticism from Democrats, who have already accused Barr of using his position to protect the president and undermine federal law enforcement.

Notice how this is again a matter of anonymous sources.

What MSN and the overall media want is to portray the Trump Administration as the partisans here, unwilling to accept the Truth. In fact, it is the media and their Democratic allies who have been unwilling to accept the truth in Trump's election in the first place, or in the behavior of the Insiders in D.C.

I don't expect too much from the I.G. report; the fact is the I.G. is one of the Washington elites and will try to protect them. We've seen this play before.

But the fact of what actually winds up in the report is what should be of interest. Naturally, the media will latch onto one or two phrases that they can use to spin this into what it is not.

Get ready; this is going to be pretty wild.

1 Gang, I think we're all agreed that anything we find in the Drive-By Media is to be ignored as nothing but propaganda. Sometimes we can look at it and say "The truth is exactly the opposite." Otherwise we can say "Noise. Nothing but noise."

2 Yep. Sadly, too many still believe what they hear there. Even conservatives get frightened when they ought to know better, but it happens. The media is ubiquitous, and still the loudest voice out there.

3 Lots and lots of people are ignoring the Drive-Bys these days, as we are hearing from believable reports. It's starting to distress the "legitimate journalists," in fact.

4 It's like the old Soviet days, when the public knew how to read Pravda; you just see what they are saying and know the opposite is true. The Soviet citizens became quite adept at finding the truth from the pack of lies. Americans are, sadly, in the same boat, with a media that is every bit as much a part of the Establishment as the government - owned entities in Soviet Russia.
