Khamenei Gives 'Em the Zulfiqar

"In the name of #Haider, the battle begins. Ali returns to #Khaybar with his Zulfiqar,”

Ayatollah Khamenei

Kaybar was a great battle where Islam's first Imam - Ali - carried the day with his sword which he called Zulfigar. It is NOT something they do in San Francisco (which was my first thought when reading it.)

Iran plans to fight to the end.

Fraud Scheme in Minnesota

Timothy Birdnow

Here is a rundown on a vote-fraud scheme up in Minnesota, where the DFL (the Democrats + farm labor parties) has worked tirelessly to implement fraudulent voter registration to steal elections.

It's sad; Minnesota USED to be largely above fraud. But no more.Politics is all nationalized these days, most especially where Democrats are concerned.

You will note the two people involved came from Nevada, not Minnesota.

At any rate this is a microcosm of what went on around the country and anyone who tries to deny elections are rigged to no small degree is either a fool or self-deluded. Every day more evidence is produced showing a vast fraud machine.

Iran May Strike Back Through Unconventional Means

The author here is captain Obvious; Iran has ALWAYS struck back through unconventional means.

Only thing is they are going to have to try after losing most of her terrorist network, much of her financial resources, and much of her military infrastructure.

But they will not go quietly into that good night. The Iranian mullahs still think that dude who fell down the well is climbing back out of it soon. (The 12th Imam) and that Armageddon is coming, ushering in the age of Allah.

When that kind of thinking drives your foreign policy you will do whatever it takes.

After extolling the virtues of masks for the citizenry the Left now wants them banned - for law enforcement.

You can't make this stuff up.

The scary thing is most liberals won't even see the contradiction.

Chinese Vote Fraud Plot

Timothy Birdnow

Tthe FBI has uncovered a Chinese plot to tamper with American Elections by creating fake mail-in ballots.

But our elections are clean as the wind-driven snow!

Former Republican Senator Jim Baker and former Democratic President Jimmy Carter co-chaired a commission over election integrity after the debacle in 2000 and they strongly advised against mail-in voting as it was impossible to stop massive cheating.

In 2016 Joe Biden was elected with an unprecedented surge in mail-in voting. Trump won more votes than anyone in history up to that time yet he LOST to a man who barely campaigned.

California Dreaming

Timothy Birdnow

California was itching to be liberated from Mexico. That's why it fell to a few American rebel citizens in the first place.

The Claim That America Stole California from Mexico is an Ignorant Lie

Zoro was about this very dissatisfacttion. He wasn't fighting Americans; he was fighting Mexicans.

These same people make this claim over Texas too. Texas was largely settled by Americans because it was a dangerous and naturally poor place, full of the most hostile Indians who ever existed. Mexicans were unwilling to risk it by moving there. And what claim did Mexico have to this land? Just that it was part of the original Spanish claim. In the end they had no real claim on it, nor did they develop it.

The Texans had a lot of reasons to rebel; they had all settled there under the Constitution of 1824, and first Bustamante' then Santa Ana suspended that constitution. The Texans lost all their rights with the stroke of a pen. When Stephen Austin went to complain he was arrested and thrown in prison.

Texas wasn't the only northern Mexican province to try to secede; there was also the short-lived Republic of the Rio Grande' which encompased parts of Texas and New Mexico as well as much of northern Mexico. Santa Ana crushed that. He pillaged all the northern states but he couldn't get Texas because his supply lines were too stretched (Texas is notoriously difficult to reach by sea as tides move what are safe harbors.) Sam Houston lured Santa Ana into a swamp and then attacked for the first time and took "The Napoleon of the West" prisoner, forcing him to sign the treaties of Velasco ( May 14, 1836) at gunpoint. Texas applied immediately for annexation by the U.S. but was turned down and so became independent for ten years (and had constant trouble with the sore loser Mexicans.)

At any rate we did NOT steal Texas, nor did we steal California. These were places that wanted to be in the Union.

On the other hand a good chunk of Texas and the southwest were part of the original Louisiana Purchase but claimed by Mexico and we let them keep it until they picked a fight with us.

Now they want it all "back" when it never really was theirs to begin with. If anyone got the shaft it was the Indians native to the area - Apache, karankawa, etc. (Comanche came later from the mountains once they got horses.)

Well, California wanted to be part of the U.S. and that should have included lower (Baja) California. Maybe we should demand that "back" from Mexico?

By the way the U.S. paid Mexico for the land it annexed, so how is that "stealing"?

James Polk wanted it (the most successful President in American history) but was willing to let it go because we weren't just trying to conquer Mexico (which we already had) and so we tossed them that bone. Baja was mostly desert at the time. Still is.

Saturday Protests

Timothy Birdnow

On Saturday I atended a wedding. The ceremony was at a suburban church in St.Louis County but the reception was at a hotel downtown. There was a shuttle running guests to and from the church.

Well, Saturday they had the "No Kings" rally downtown, right next to our hotel. The protesters (who were almost all white and carrying pre-made signs) blocked the streets and St. Louis had almost no police presence to deal with any problems.

Our bus got stuck and the driver estimated it would probably take about fifty minutes to go the half block to our hotel. We got out and slogged it on foot, through the center of the rally.

It was unfortunate for me; I am diabetic and my blood sugar crashed as I walked. I had glucose tablets, but by the end was pretty out of it. I just remember it being a kaleidescope of white liberals and food and beer trucks. It was more of a party atmosphere than anything.

The people I was with got me back to the hotel safely (thannks John and Stephen and Clare!) and we didn't have any incidents. We were all wearing suits, after all.

My sister-in-law's husband had some trouble, although he wasn't with us; he had a guy block him and the fellow wouldn't move out of his way. He eventually had to push him out of the way and got cursedas a "rich bastard" for his troubles (just because he was wearing a suit.) I razzed him about "kicking the protester's ass" afterward and I am not sure he really appreciated that, but it was too fun not to.

At any rate I feared violence come nightfall but the crowd dispersed without incident.

This WAS a peaceful protest. But the police should not have allowed them to block the sttreets. I had a minor medical emergency; had someone had a REAL one, a heart attack or stroke, they could well have died so these people can complain about the government enforcing the law.

And from what I saw had a riot erupted it could have rampaged and caused a lot of damage. It was entirely possible.

And don't kid yourself; had Trump not sent the National Guard to L.A. these protests would have turned into riots. They all knew it.

Salmonella at the Catholic Cafeteria

Timothy Birdnow

Saturday night I attended the wedding of my niece and a family member at our table began discussing Catholicism, in particular some of the rules and regulations imposed by Catholicism. Now do not get me wrong; he is a lovely man, and really is committed to his beliefs. I just found I disagreed heartily. Sadly, because of the din of the reception I wasn't able to make most of the points I am about to make. That's the good thing about blogs; I can make whatever points I like and nobody can interrupt me and break my train of thought. As most you know I am not the pithy sort who can use just a few words; it takes me time to warm up my train of thought. So here it is.

RULES FOR RULES SAKE

One of his big objections to the Church is that it is too rigid and has too many rules. In some ways I think this is his best point. And I agree; I really don't think someone is going to Hell for missing mass on a Sunday (I sure hope not) or receiving Holy Communion after eating breakfast (it's like swimming; you aren't allowed into communion with Christ for at least an hour after eating) There is nothing really Biblical about either. All the Bible says about going to Church is "keep holy the Sabbath" and Christians don't even do that; we have our day of religious memorial on the first cay of the week, not on the sabbath. I'm sure Jews in the first century thought Christians were lazy louts, taking the first working day off every week. But are we commanded to attend church? Not really; you could spend the time in solitary prayer. There is no COMMAND to show up in church. That was imposed by the Church leadership for three reasons 1.to make people afraid to not show up so they wouldn't simply lapse altogether 2.so they could have some influence over the people who came and 3.to get their donations. So some dude in the Church decided to give this the force of heavenly law and he could do it because of "what you loose on Earth shall be loosed in Heaven and what you hold bound shall be held bound". But it's not actually written law; just part of the Church cannon. Ditto the not eating before receiving Communion thing; that's based on a warning to not take Communion unworthily. The Church figures Christ is pure and should not be sullied by stomach contents. I would remind everyone the first Holy Communion followed the Passover feast; they were ALL stuffed when Jesus first gave His body and blood.
