Fake News as History

This from Warner Todd Houston:

I did not know the NYTime's fake history project was serving as the basis for actual school curriculum. Once again we see that our schools are filled to the brim with liars selling fake news as "history."

1 Actually, it's the 1619 project, which makes quite a difference, as the date predates the revolution.

2 Ah, you're so right; thanks Bill! It was my mistake when posting. I have pretty bad eyesight and didn't catch the mistake.

3 According to this article in Power Line, https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2019/11/slavery-we-were-a-footnote.php the Atlantic slave trade, of which America was only a part, was a relatively small part of the overall slave trade from Africa. The Muslim slave traders did a much more thriving business with East Africa -- also Muslims.

I'm not saying it wasn't a blot on our record, but the people who are constantly using it to bludgeon us really don't know the facts.

4 You're right, Dana; the Muslim slave traders made the Europeans look like amateurs. THEY were the ones who purchased the slaves from native warlords and sold them to the ship captains. We were just one of many end customers. The dealers were the Muslims.

BTW slavery in America started out as indentured servitude, like all the other poor who came here. Ship captains didn't want to go to America with empty ships, so they often brought passengers to sell as indentured servants. When they were short they stopped in North Africa and  traded rum or other goods for extra people to round out their lading. But the Africans weren't enthusiastic workers, as they were given no choice (as some white people were not either, as they had many times been shanghaied. So the length of indenture kept rising for Africans until eventually they became life contracts and then eternal.
