I did not know the NYTime's fake history project was serving as the basis for actual school curriculum. Once again we see that our schools are filled to the brim with liars selling fake news as "history."

I'm not saying it wasn't a blot on our record, but the people who are constantly using it to bludgeon us really don't know the facts.

BTW slavery in America started out as indentured servitude, like all the other poor who came here. Ship captains didn't want to go to America with empty ships, so they often brought passengers to sell as indentured servants. When they were short they stopped in North Africa and traded rum or other goods for extra people to round out their lading. But the Africans weren't enthusiastic workers, as they were given no choice (as some white people were not either, as they had many times been shanghaied. So the length of indenture kept rising for Africans until eventually they became life contracts and then eternal.
