The "honorable" Mr. Clay is my Congressman, sad to say. I was stuck with his crooked father when I lived in north St. Louis County years ago, and I thought I was done with him when I moved to the city south side. But now his snaggle toothed son is the boss hog of the district (a result of redistricting) and I have this guy, who would be at home swilling MD 20/20 out of a paper bag next to a fire barrel.
Lacy Clay is the Democrat who, on election night a number of years back (don't remember exactly which but I think it was 2008) told a friendly crowd not to worry about the 7 p.m. deadline because "we'll keep the pollls open as late as we need to" and at the last moment a corrupt judge ordered them kept open. The GOP found another judge who then ordered them closed, but they remained open about 45 minutes late. That meant 45 mminutes of fake votes they could stuff in the ballot box.
Congress should censure Clay for this. Not sure how the House rules for censure work, but Clay really has it coming. I suspect the House Ethics Committee has to issue an article of censure or whatnot, so it won't happen. Too bad.
